I spoke not so long ago about how I felt I had outgrew the shopping my stash concept, it became boring and frankly restrictive...yawn! I know how we all love a good rummage around each others make-up bags (guilty) and what better way than nosing at my weekly favourites?
First up I have been drowning both myself and my sorrows with Stella McCartney's L.I.L.Y, gah it is just so beautiful and despite being a light floral it is one of those scents I can see myself wearing all year round. The only problem is that I have a tendency to over apply...oops! The L.I.L.Y candle is calling my name...
By now it has been well established that I am a coral fiend when it comes to make-up and like a creature of habit there are many bright coral offerings currently lurking in my make-up bag. For my cheeks it has been either Josie Maran's Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee in Coral Oasis which is wonderful for pairing with a tinted moisturiser or dare I say it a bare face! For those days when only full coverage foundation will do I have been relying on Illamasqua's Tremble blush which may appear pink in the pan but rest assure once on the cheeks it becomes a light pink coral. For my lips it has been all about MAC's Vegas Volt which I affectionately dub my grown up coral as it has a slight red leaning.
I am so dull when it comes to eye make-up and have been buffing a little of a matte orange based brown into my crease for definition, a quick slick of mascara and done. The shade I favour is from Wet n Wild but it is a pretty basic shade that you should be able to find on countless make-up counters. Speaking of mascara I have no current favourite, in-fact I am going through an "I hate mascara" phase. Nothing is working for me in terms of mascara at the moment so please answers (and suggestions on a post card). I also feel the same about foundation but that's a story for another time.
Skincare wise I have been relying on a combination of Clarins Blue Orchid Facial Oil and the new Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair to work their magic and I can happily say that my skin has been looking rather smashing if I don't say so myself.
What product have you been reaching for most this week, it never hurts to build a wishlist ha!
great post!

ReplyDeleteI want the estee lauder night repair, Sounds good!:)

I'm curious about EL Night Repair, but I like my Ren Omega 3 serum too much to switch right now! Makeup-wise, I'm ridiculously into Maybelline Color Sensations lipstick in Park Ave Peach, so cheap online and a wonderful dupe for the very wearable MAC See Sheer lipstick. xo

I picked up the Josie Maran Gelee in "Poppy Paradise" and I'm in love! I tried to get the "Coral Oasis" to work for me but it just ended up looking a little muddy on my complexion. I've picked up the new Estee Lauder ANR and so far so good. Why do you like to add the Blue Lotus? Is it more hydrating?

i just started following your blog, thank you for great posts! I'm not sure of your requirements for mascara, mine are no smudging, volume, black color that completely covers, and reasonably priced. I have long medium blonde lashes that are invisible without mascara, and the length makes smudging a real problem, Many of the often praised mascaras don't suit me. So what am I loving a the moment. I actually have 3.
ReplyDeleteCheap every day - Jordana Lash Perfection (the original int he black tube with purple writing) I'm not sure if the is available internationally (sorry), but it is quite reasonable and easy to find in the US. I have to wash twice with my cream remover, but not as difficult as some others I;ve tried (CoverGirl Lash Blast).
Basic volume - Buxum Lash Black Mascara adds a bit of drama, but still good for daily wear. Is easy to remove and lasts with no smudging or flaking. I wear over a lash primer (Clinique's at the moment). Only available at Sephora, so one I pick up when I can, or to complete an order.
In your face volume - Urban Decay Big Fatty. Wow, this makes my lashes look like falsies! It lasts and does remove with cream cleanser, but I have to wash twice (as with the Jordana).
Several tubes ago, I tried Urban Decay Curling Mascara and liked it. Went on to other sample sizes and have never used a full size.
Good luck, and I;m anxious to read about your foundation hunt!
The Illamasqua blush looks beautiful.
