Laura Mercier Laura's Luxe Colour Portfolio

It is not often that a palette will come along and I will like 99% of the shades or formulas for that matter held within but I can safely say that if you are looking for a great quality day to evening, suit all kit then you should look no further than Laura Mercier Laura's Luxe Colour Portfolio.

I try not to get bogged down by packaging but truth be told I'm not a fan of this particular palette's presentation, it is unnecessarily bulky and is fairly large - it is on par with the size of a clutch bag. On the plus side it does not look cheap and features a huge, great quality mirror which I would willingly forgo for a smaller, sleeker design.

The concept of the Laura Mercier Laura's Luxe Colour Portfolio is that it contains all you need (minus foundation and mascara) to create both day and evening looks, it even comes complete with a how to guide with three easy looks to recreate at home. Within the palette there is six eyeshadows, three cake eyeliners and two blushes all of which are fairly universal and some of which can be bought individually (a few of the eyeshadows, the tightliners and both blushes).

The eyeshadow shades and formulas are as follows:
Morning Dew - a light pink tinged cream which is matte in formula, soft but chalky.
African Violet - a shimmer based purple tinged taupe that has lots of golden shimmer
Violet Ink - a matte deep plum with wonderful colour pay off.
Lavalier - a light silver grey shade with a metallic formula.
Grey Onyx - a slightly deeper and more blue based silver grey
Espresso Bean - a deep matte brown that is almost black and has intense pigmentation.

Tightliner Cakes:
A powder eyeliner which can be applied dry for a softer look or wet for more intense almost liquid finish.Yes you can use an eyeshadow for the same purpose but the tightliner cakes have more pigmentation than a typical matte powder and offer intense colour pay-off without the need for numerous layers.
Black Ebony - a true flat matte black
Blue Marine - a deep matte navy blue
Mahogany Brown - an intense darker than dark brown (this can double up as a brow powder too) when used dry but a lighter chocolate brown shade when wet.

Blushes:
Both blushes are from the second skin range and offer sheer natural colour that does not sit in enlarged pores or fine lines, if a natural flush of colour is what you hope to achieve this is the long lasting formula for you. I find this range of blushes to work particularly well with a tinted moisturiser for a polished, no make-up type of affect.
Barely Pink - a soft peachy pink with a satin finish, best suited to light/medium complexions.
Lotus Pink - a mid toned pink coral with a slight golden nuance, very similar to NARS Orgasm.

All in all a great kit to keep stashed in your handbag, office drawer or car glove box for any occasion that may arise. Sadly you can not buy this online but will have to call into Harvey Nichols to purchase this kit which does retail for £65.
