Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Baby Bare

Summer is firmly on my mind and as much as I love a fully opaque lipstick it can be a little over the top when all you are doing is lounging poolside. If a good book and glowing tan is on your mind then you along with a great sunscreen and sunglasses a tinted lip balm is your new best friend. At the moment there may be no pool in my garden but I have enjoyed soaking up the rays with Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Baby Bare on my lips.

It is no secret that I have a weakness for Pixi's packaging - there is just something rather special and dare I say it cute about their pistachio green colour scheme with is more often than not adorned with a pretty floral pattern or two. Pixi's Tinted Brilliance Balms are your typical chunky lip crayon that has a wind up mechanism in the base to prevent waste from sharpening and to also be convenient when on the go.

At the moment there is 10 shades within the Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm range with a shade for every complexion and taste. I like pink based nude shades so Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Baby Bare is right up my street. Baby Bare is more of a pink than a nude and in my opinion this neutral based light pink gives a my lips but better effect and is a great everyday shade. Off the top of my head I can't really think of an outright dupe but I deem Baby Bare to be a slightly more pink version of MAC Hue.

Chunky lip crayons are nothing new and pretty much every highstreet brand and further afield have presented their offerings in the few months so the Pixi offering would have to be pretty special to hold its own and that it does. Unlike most of the tinted lip balms I have tried over the years none have really come up trumps in terms of texture, some are too waxy others are too soft and then you have those that are not hydrating in the slightest but the Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balms are just right - firm yet hydrating and not at all waxy! The Pixi offering glides on to the lips, moisturising and softening as it goes all the while providing a subtle of colour with a slight sheen finish. My only compliant is that this balm does not contain an SPF, add an SPF and I would deem this to be my favourite tinted lip balm ever. In terms of wear I typically achieve around an hour or so before fading occurs but that is the norm when it comes to tinted lip balms.

Again I would like to apologise for the current state of my lips - they are crazy at the moment and nothing seems to be helping heal them. What a nightmare!
