I am a girl of convenience a.k.a I'm very lazy and when it comes to my daily eye choices more often than not involves a quick swipe of cream eyeshadow. Back in the day I would have scrunched up my nose at cream formula's and would happily slap on powder eyeshadows, now I do still enjoy the odd powder eyeshadow or ten but for longevity it is all about those of the cream variety.
On a day to day basis if I am doing more than running errands I will dip my fingertips into Chanel Illusion D'Ombre in Emerville which is a light champagne pink with a strong yellow nuance. For a beautiful everyday neutral that is subtle but still commands attention then Emereville is your gal. If for some reason you don't enjoy the texture or price point of Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre eyeshadows I find Estee Lauder's Pink Zinc to be a great dupe for Emerville and dare I say it a little more pigmented!
Sometimes I like to look like I have no make-up on, I have no idea why as an oil painting I am not but for such instances I highly recommend MAC Painterly Paint Pot. This is a light pinky toned flesh shade that perks up the eye area and gives a polished finish. If you do like to layer powder products over cream eyeshadows you can not go wrong with MAC Painterly - think of it as your everyday eyeshaow priming staple or wash of colour in my case. If I'm really in a hurry and merely want to look alive god forbid try anything fancy I find a quick swoosh of Clinique's Almond Even Better Concealer in my crease adds a little depth and warmth. In terms of colour it is not worlds apart from MAC Soft Brown and despite being a concealer it more than lasts the pace of a full day's wear and tear.
For evening wear I rather enjoy a bronze smoky eye particularly now the weather is heating up (she says sarcastically) and I am preparing to pack for a few weeks in the sunshine. My two go to shades are very similar both in shade and formula yet worlds apart in terms of price. As much as I adore the simplicity of By Terry's Ombre Black Star in Bronze Moon the shade is your typical cool toned bronze almost taupe that glides on with ease and stays in place even on the oilest of lids .If it is convenience this is my staple product as the pencil style applicator allows for precision and minimal fuss but if you have a little more time on your hands I say go for Maybelline's Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze. On and On Bronze is a dead ringer for Bronze Moon and wears just as well if not better for a fraction of the price.
And because we can't have a beauty post without some swatches feast your eyes on the shades in action...
What are your to go to cream formulated eyeshadows in any?
Random Fact - The next time you're tired and let out a yawn, touch your tongue. It's impossible to yawn if you touch your tongue!(I bet you just tried it).
I have the Maybelline Colour Tattoo and wear it nearly everyday, it's incredible for only £5! Would love to try the Chanel & MAC versions though.

I don't usually go for cream formulated eyeshadows. I do own Urban Decay's primer which comes in a few shades and if i'm feeling lazy (beauty bloggers cringe) i just apply one shade to brighten up my eyes! I do enjoy the Naked palette thought!

I tried a swipe of Benefit creme shadow on at a beauty store and fell in love with the pigment in creme shadow! It is so pretty, but so expensive! I would love to add more creme shadows to my collection like these pretty colors but I don't think I can afford to :-) Love this post!

I actually hate cream shadows. : ( My eyes are hooded and oily, so they always just crease up on me. And even if I wear a primer I can just never get them to look right on me. I wish I could cause sometimes all I want is the quick eyeshadow look.

Oh I love this post! Thanks for some good daily eyeshadow ideas. I usually use Bobbie Brown Seashell these days for a natural bright eyed look. I'm going to have to try pink zinc and bronze maybelline colours!
ReplyDeleteI use mac groundwork every day. I own mac painterly, too, but i look better when the shadow is a bit darker. I would love to own all of mac's paint pots but off course that would be too expensive. I'm thinking about buying Constructionist or Quite Natural.
ReplyDeleteI've only tried the Maybelline Color Tattoo but I can see how convenient it is to use compared to powder eyeshadows. I'll give the MAC paint pots a try!
ReplyDeleteHaha! The random fact at the end ... So true!

I love the colour tattoos and need more. Really want some more from this list!

I love the Maybelline Colour Tattoos - I've pretty much made it my mission to collect as many shades as possible because I love the formulation so much! Pretty much every day I use MAC's Rubenesque Paintpot though, I think I love it for the colour more than the formulation - if Maybelline had a similar colour I'm sure I'd reach for that every day!
