Beauty School Drop Outs May 2013

It has been forever and a day since I last posted a beauty school drop out post but I think it is about time that it made it's return as I have a few products that just don't float my boat. I deem this type of product just as important as a favourites post as sometimes it is nice to read about products that don't quite make the grade. I can't promise that you will agree with what I am about to divulge but I can pinkie swear it is the truth, that being said please bear in mind that this post is simply my personal opinion and what I loathe may be a staple product for you!

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Pressed Powder
I know it is almost blasphemous to besmirch the power house that is Chanel but frankly myself and Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Pressed Powder do not get on. Before I purchased this compact I had read all the glowing (no pun intended) reviews and thought it was exactly what my heart desired - a light powder that sets make-up and leaves skin dewy, consider me sold. Only problem is that it did not deliver, the powder doesn't feel as light as air on my skin, there's no dewy radiance finish when applied to my skin and as it is so highly perfumed it broke my skin out like crazy. Sorry Chanel this time you let me down.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir
Yet again a product that seemingly delivered all I could desire in one quick spritz. I had read countless reviews on how Caudalie Beauty Elixir was more than a cooling spray some claimed it cooled the skin (I agree), others said it made a wonderful toner and then I read about how this could banish blemishes and set make-up. Yep if it sounds too good to be true it normally is. Now don't get me wrong as far as cooling sprays go I like this one - pungent scent aside as it has such a fine mist that doesn't soak the skin but other than that it is just a glorified cooling mist. Caudalie Beauty Elixir does not calm skin irritations nor will it set your make-up nor does it remove make-up. I'm afraid this is one product that has been over hyped to be something it is not!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Volume Flash Mascara
Normally I am a huge fan of Rimmel mascara's and would personally deem their offerings to be some of the best on the UK high street but I am afraid Rimmel Scandaleyes Volume Flash Mascara. Firstly the brush head is huge and makes it neigh impossible to catch those pesky corner eye lashes or the dinky little bottle lashes. However my main problem is the formula it irritated my eyes like no other, each time I have applied Rimmel Scandaleyes Volume Flash Mascara my eyes stream, water and burn which as you can imagine is less than pleasant. I do wonder if perhaps my eyes have become sensitive for some odd reason and would love to hear from anyone who has tried this product out for themselves?

Clarins BB Cream
In my eyes Clarins can do very little wrong and it is a brand I am loyal to well apart from their BB Cream that is. Technically there is nothing wrong with their BB Cream in-fact the texture is rather lovely and on the whole it covers well but my goodness is the shade spectrum bizarre. I have shade light which is so far from being light it is confusing - light is rather orange based, not all that flattering and not at all a light shade. I really do hope Clarins re-formulate their shades as like I said the texture is great and should there ever be a better match for my skin tone I can almost guarantee you that I would be a huge advocate.

Barry M Confetti Nail Paints
As much as I love Barry M nail paints (many will know I have a soft spot for their Gelly's) I just can't get on board with their Confetti Nail Paints and I feel the same way towards Nails Inc Feather polishes. Are they meant to look fluffy, glittery or what? Maybe I'm just getting old but the textured nail polish trend is one train I have yet to board.
