Nicole by OPI Modern Family Nail Polishes

I finally got my hands on a few shades from the Nicole by OPI Modern Family Nail Polish collection and have to say in the flesh the shades are very hit and miss and to me almost seem to be aimed at those a little more mature. That being said there is some very pretty and funky shades to be had.In the end I went with Alex By The Books and Stand By Your Manny but I will say that Luke of the Draw is one that I hope to get my mitts on soon.

A quick note on the packaging it is of typical Nicole by OPI style and the only thing that separates the Modern Family shades from the regular line is a cellophane wrap with the Modern Family logo. I hate the shape of the Nicole by OPI bottles, it is so weird and freaks me out a little haha! Anyway that aside the brush is a great size and shape - a wide fanning brush that coats the nails with ease.

Alex By The Books - a really lovely mid toned almost mint green shade that is a creme finish and opaque in two coats both of which dry quickly. A great spring shade with a brilliant formula that I highly recommend.

Stand By Your Manny - I really wanted to like this shade as I adore cornflower blue hues but the shimmer element puts me off and dates the shade slightly in my opinion. The formula wasn't great either with this being a really sheer polish and requiring five coats to become opaque, you can of course layer this over a white polish to minimise on coats.

I would love to make a sweeping statement about the Nicole by OPI  polish formula but as you can tell from reading above each shade really did preform differently. Alex By The Books is on par with a typical OPI polish where as Stand By Your Manny is weak and not worth the £7.99 price tag. I guess it is like any other polish brand with hits and misses but I'm not put off in the slightest and do plan on purchasing a few more shades from Nicole by OPI when I am stateside.
