NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Isola Bella

Not so long ago I blogged about the launch of the new NARS Satin Lip Pencils which come in a whopping 17 shades so it is not much of an exaggeration to say that there should be something for everyone when it comes to shade choice. Well my fellow lipstick loving friends (I was tempted to write fiends but that really only applies to my buying habits haha!) I finally have one of the NARS Satin Lip Pencils to share my thoughts on.

Let's keep the blurb on the packaging short and sweet  - it is very typical of NARS, matte black and chunky with a coloured base to easily show what shade is hiding under the lid. If you have any other NARS lip pencil then you will know the drill as they are identical to the past offerings, continuity and all that! My only note is that I find lipstick pencils of any sort sharpen best when popped in the freezer for an hour or so...just a heads up!

Out of 17 shades it is always going to be hard to walk away with just one but for me it was always going to be a coral or nude shade. Luckily NARS Isola Bella is a great comprise of both shades and can best be summed up as a warm toned peach with a brown undertone. In some lights it can look a little orange based but rest assure once applied it does loose that quality and is flattering. In terms of comparison shades it does remind me of the likes of MAC Freckletone but much more pigmented. NARS Isola Bella begs for a sunny day, a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and a floaty maxi dress!

In the past I have made no secret that I'm not the biggest fan of satin lip formulas and do tend to favour matte or hydrating formulas, however NARS Satin Lip Pencils may just be the one to change my mind.
These chubby pencils of lipstick glide on with such ease and feel creamy almost gloss like but without the sticky sensation. I rather like the formula, a glossy lip product that isn't sticky but offers high colour pay off...what's not to like? However to call it a satin formula is a stretch not that I am complaining. Despite the texture there is little slip or slide and the formula doesn't settle or cling to dry patches but wears for close to four hours with a full glossy yet pigmented finish. A winner from NARS that is for sure, next on my wishlist is of course NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Lohdi, lord knows that I enjoy a good coral or two.
