It is no secret that I have done a complete 360 and went from loathing oil products to not being able to live without them, okay slight exaggeration but you get what I mean.
My two go to cleansers are Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel -review link (I've used more tubes than I care to count) and the new kid on my cleansing block Nude Perfect Cleansing Oil - review link but recently launched is the new L'Oreal Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil which has received nothing but rave reviews. The question I wanted to answer is could this budget friendly cleansing oil rival my pricier alternatives? Let's see shall we...
L'Oreal Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil is a fruity scented cleansing oil that comes packaged in a large (150ml) pump style dispenser bottle. The idea is that L'Oreal Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil will instantly dissolve all traces of make-up including waterproof mascara and general dirt and grime.
Much like any oil based cleanser you apply a couple of pumps to dry skin, massage into the skin and eyelashes then wipe off using a wet muslin cloth. Again like other oil cleansing products that have come before L'Oreal Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil once the oil comes into contact with water it turns into a milky emulsion to ensure the skin is deeply cleansed.
Texture wise on the skin this feels silken and not overly greasy (with an oil product it is of course always going to be somewhat oily/greasy) but deeply hydrating, I thoroughly recommend it for anyone who has dry skin as it cleanses without stripping the skin of its natural moisture levels.
It does make light work of removing all traces of make-up and does indeed remove waterproof mascara albeit stinging my eyes a little but my eyes are fairly sensitive truth be told.
A truly brilliant cleansing oil at a great price but it is a shame about the high content of mineral oil.

Such a shame about the mineral oil! I like how you picked it out, otherwise I wouldn't have realised! :)

My friend uses this and really rates it but I don't like the fact it contains mineral oil

That's actually a lie, mineral oil is actually a medium occlusive agent in comparison with others frequently used in cosmetics that as occlusives do, helps restore the epidermal barrier of the skin when it has been insulted for example by your cleanser and it does so acting in a similar way to your endogenous barrier lipids, thus it creates a temporary barrier that allows the skin to regulate and come back to it's normal function, which implies being back to it's normal sebum production. There was some study quite back in time (actually, 1990) that said it could be comedogenic, but more actual ones has demonstrated that cosmetics-grade one (which is the one used in cosmetics, obviously) it's not, so it won't naturally clog your pores. As it is not as occlusive as other things used you'll find it in many creams targeted to acne-prone and oily skin, other reason it is so used is because it's very cosmetically elegant, also it is very little reactive or allergenic, in comparison to many other things (that's why sensitive targeted products are actually comprised of synthetic ingredients almost totally).

Pardon my english as it it's not my mother language. The goal of this comment is just simply providing some info in case you may want to check out, mineral oil is so used and receives illegit bad raps which lead to avoidance of products that could actually be great with no reason.
Greets.
Wow thank you :) I'm going to scour those links now. Thank you for doing that it's greatly appreciated.
DeleteJust wanted to add my thanks too. I've learnt something new today.

You're very welcome :) The choice ultimately is personal of course but I felt some other interesting sources may be of benefit. By the way I didn't comment on the product, I personally like a lot oil w/emulsifiers for taking my make up away, it¡s simple and functional. I found your opinion on this product very useful, thank you :)
DeleteI know some people with oily skin swear by using oily products but I just couldn't!
ReplyDeleteI'm the exact same as you, I loathed oils not too long ago and after using the balance me radiance face oil, I realised they could have some amazing benefits! The only thing I get concerned over is mineral oil as I'm so unaware of why it actually is bad and whats good and bad, ahhh confusing lol

I bought this yesterday after seeing Terri Lowe review it- I must say, I do like it! I'm a recent convert to oils too, but am very evangelical about them... my skin has never looked or felt better!
ReplyDeleteI find its only an oil based product that can remove my EL double wear.x
ReplyDeletethis sounds so good for the price, but i'm wary of putting oils on my oily, acne-prone skin xxx
ReplyDeleteWould love to try this, I really love using L'Oreal products!
