Aveda Glasgow Salon

On Thursday I had the utter pleasure of attending James Dun's House - Aveda Glasgow Salon* for SalonSpy.co.uk. If you are Glaswegian you will undoubtedly have walked past James Dun's House at some point or other as it is conveniently located in Hanover Street a mere stones throw from Glasgow Queen Street train station.

Aveda Glasgow Salon

Anyway location aside the salon is huge, spacious, modern and very well kept basically all the things you would come to expect from a high quality hairdressers which James Dun's House - Aveda Glasgow Salon is. As soon as I arrived I was warmly greeted and offered a very comfortable seat while my jacket was hung up and my hairdresser was alerted I was ready for my appointment  I was then lead upstairs which although is a hairdressing cutting floor it feels very much like a funky loft apartment with lots of black and exposed wooden beams. It was here I was introduced to my hairdresser Lyndsay and offered the first of may cups of tea.

Unlike other hairdressers Lyndsay listened and knew exactly what I was saying and didn't try and sway me or tempt with other ideas like other hairdressers have in the past and to me that is oh so important. In the past I have had various stylists yes, yes me only do their own thing and me end up refusing to pay. I believe as a service industry the hairdressing sector is there to do what you ask not what they feel. Now obviously that is within reason if you go in with black cropped hair and demand white blonde dreadlocks the stylist will have to best advice you how you'd slowly get to that point over time. I asked for a full head of highlights and that is exactly what I got.

As someone with beyond thick and long hair I was so impressed by how quickly Lyndsay weaved in a full set of highlights - 30 minutes tops which went by in the blink of an eye while we chatted about everything and anything. While my highlights developed I was well cared for with the offer of a hot cup of tea or coffee and a complimentary hand massage. The complimentary services is what sets Aveda apart from other salons, not only do the offer a free hand massage but you can also get a head massage and before you leave the salon they can re-touch your make-up so you immaculate make-up to match your swishy new hair style.

After my hair was washed, Lyndsay asked me what hair style I wanted and as I'm growing my hair I requested a trim and opted to have my full fringe snipped in. Again to Lyndsay's credit she did exactly just that no masses of hair on the floor just a great even trim with a perfectly cut fringe. I honestly couldn't be happier my hair is now one step closer to being the blonde I dream off, it was wonderfully coloured with no damage and cut just how I asked all the while being treated like royalty. If you are Glasgow based and looking for a hairdressing team you can trust get yourself along to James Dun's House - Aveda Glasgow Salon. I promise you won't regret it, I left feeling amazing so, so happy with my new colour and general all round treatment which in my experience with hairdressers is few and far between. Oh and the prices are pretty reasonable my full head of foil highlights including cut would have cost £96 which is slightly less than I have paid in the past.

At the moment SalonSpy.co.uk has over 51,000 businesses listed and as it is a free service I urge you to not only check it out before you visit any salon, spa, hairdressers or barbers for that matter to ensure you get the best service possible but to also sign up and help rate your local services. Hey you might just save one person from experiencing a rather terrible service or worse a haircut from hell...gulp!

-*As mentioned above this was a complementary service on behalf of SalonSpy.co.uk, all my thoughts are true to my experience and other than the cut and colour I have not been compensated in any other way.
