A few posts back I shared the new Bourjois Healthy Mix Blush - review link, and briefly mentioned that Bourjois have reformulated and re-packaged their infamous Healthy Mix Foundation.
After a weekend of trying out the new formula and spotting it in my local Superdrug I thought now would be a good time to share my thoughts on Bourjois Health Mix Radiance Reveal Foundation .
If you can recall the first edition of Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation yo will remember that it came in a plastic tube complete with pump and black accents, this time around the plastic element is gone and in it's place is a glass container again with in-built pump and with red accents.
I'm afraid I have to admit that although the new packaging looks sleeker and dare I say a little more upscale I'm not a fan, the thing with the plastic tube is in theory it is less prone to breakages and it could travel anywhere including in hand luggage at the airport. The other bonus about the plastic element over the glass is that with each pump a disc slide up the tube to dispense the product resulting in less waste as there is no way the product could cling to the bottom or the sides of the tube. Long winded I know but if you look at the old packaging style in use I'm sure you'll understand what I mean - link.
However I can happily say that packaging aside this foundation is faultless (well in my eyes anyway).
This time around there is 8 shades of Bourjois Health Mix Radiance Reveal Foundation which do seem to be much less yellow in tone and far more neutral. I was sent shade 53 Beige Clair which I would deem to be a light/medium shade and perfect for anyone around the NW25/NC30 mark in MAC Foundations.
Yes it is a little light for my skin tone, sadly I can't seem to source shade 55 locally just yet but once I do I shall update with swatches of said shade too.
So what makes this formula different from the others? Pure and simply it has a slightly more dewy finish and gives a natural radiant finish. If you are a fan of the original formula I know for a fact you will also adore this as the only main difference seems to be that it gives the skin a bigger sense of radiance than it's predecessor.
I must stress that said boosted luminosity is more of a glow rather than a shimmer or glitter element so those like myself who have less than perfect pores can rest easy.
Much like the original Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation the new re-formulated edition is medium in terms of coverage but buildable, in my experience I find it sufficient enough to cover small blemishes and acne scarring without the need for concealer. Once applied and allowed to settle it does so to a natural but slightly dewy finish.Texture wise this is very much a light liquid foundation that applies and blends well however which way you apply it, I personally like to stipple it on so I can build the coverage a little on my problem areas. On the skin it feels light and almost like a second skin, it doesn't cake nor does it settle into fine lines or pores and feels fairly hydrating which should in theory be a problem for oily skin but it oddly isn't. If you do have oily skin I find that priming and setting any foundation is key to making it last and withstand the power of excess sebum. In terms of wear on my oily skin we are talking about 8 hours of even coverage before it wilts ever so slightly which all things considering is pretty good going.
The new Bourjois Health Mix Radiance Reveal Foundation* has yet to launch online but I have spotted it in my local Superdrug already so do keep an eye out for it.
Bourjois Health Mix Radiance Reveal Foundation £9.99/30ml.

Interesting read, I was certain the foundation would stay top notch in formulation and it seems I was right.
ReplyDeleteI totally see what you mean about the packaging though! I really really liked the old packaging - I was even a little annoyed that the serum foundation didn't have that plastic element.
And now this. Great disadvantage in my eyes - I just want to finish the products I paid for, simple as that!
This sounds great! I will definitely have to look into this x
ReplyDeleteThe original healthy mix and the serum are 2 of my all time favourite high street foundations, the original broke me out if I wore it too much though which was a real shame because I loved it! I'm looking forward to trying this out!! Great review chick! xxx
ReplyDeleteI think they did wrong not including this plastic thing which prevents extra product being wasted at the sides of the tube - that's my main criticism.

I picked this up when I went shopping and LOVE it. I need to go out somewhere so I have an excuse to wear proper foundation instead of my Dr Jart BB Cream.

I've been hearing so many good reviews about this foundation. Will have to get my mitts on it I think! xx
ReplyDeleteI loved your review of this.
ReplyDeleteDo you think, since it has a dewy finish it would be suitable for oily skins? I'm always nervous picking up something that has a dewy finish in case I end up looking like i rubbed olive oil on my face!

Great review, I have been a fan of this foundation for years now.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for me, I much preferred the product the way it was before. I knew straight away something had changed in the colour tones and just its application in general was different. I miss the yellower tones which were more flattering for me and its a shame that I am now shopping around again for my 'perfect' foundation the way i used to years ago. Its like the end of a chapter.
Awesome review!! I love this foundation! Great Bourjois!
