Monday Make Your Own - Brush Cleanser

It's been a while since I last shared a "Make Your Own" post simply because I had ran out of ideas but today I am back with a quick, easy and cheap brush cleanser that is great for on the spot brush cleansing.
If you know me you'll know I like to keep things simple and with four ingredients you really don't get much more basic than that for on the spot cleansing.

What you will need:
- An empty spray bottle ( I bought mine from Boots for less than £2)
- 2 Mugs of Water
- 1/2 Cup Isopropyl Alcohol aka Rubbing Alcohol (the higher the alcohol content, the better cleansed the brushes will be.)
- 1 table spoon Baby Shampoo
- 2 table spoons of Leave-In Conditioner (you can use any conditioner at a push but I find normal conditioner to be a little heavy.)

It really is as easy as combining the above ingredients in a bowl, pouring the mixture into a bottle and tah-dah! In my case I had a little left over which I poured into a separate bottle to use at a later date.
To use simply spray lightly on to the brush bristles and using a tissue wipe off the old product as you go.
Okay it is not as fancy as the likes of MAC but it is as cheap as chips and does the job!

Will you be trying this out?

  1. Brilliant! Thanks for this, I will definitely be giving this a go. I'm guilty of not cleaning my make-up brushes enough.

  6. Good idea! I tend to use a wet wipe for spot cleaning, but this sounds better. I like to use baby oil before cleanser for products which are oily/creamy, it tends to loosen it a bit.
