Not so long ago a small collection (five to be precise) of bright almost neon lipsticks by Maybelline hit the stands and I pretty much rushed to my local Boots to snag up any shades I could lay my hands on.
The lipsticks I am of course talking about are Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Lipsticks and I predict that they will be this summers must have lip choice!
Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Lipsticks come presented within neon red acrylic and silver tubes,
I know some may wonder why I always include a mention of any packaging which is purely aesthetic to most.
Well the reason is I know some are visual creatures like myself that may forget the name of the product they are looking for but won't forget the packaging when perusing the beauty aisles!
I should quickly mention that as well as being pretty funky visually I find all of Maybelline's Color Sensational packaging to be very robust and is often my choice for a night on the tiles...I'm sure that speaks for itself.
So yes five new shades each brighter than the last, I know stateside there is more shades to be had, eight all in...don't you hate when that happens?
The three shades I picked up are:
902 Fuchsia Flash - By far my favourite shade out of those that hit the UK, this looks far more dull in bullet form but once applied to the lips it is a bright blue based almost neon pink. This reminds me immensely of the likes of MAC Candy Yum Yum and Pink Pigeon only without the matte finish.
910 Shocking Coral - Oddly in bullet form this looks to be the most bright and shocking if you will, yet when applied it is very much a typical yellow based pink that lacks the vivid claim. This reminds me of MAC's Impassioned.
916 Neon Red - Not neon in the slightest, this is a typical yellow based red that is actually rather difficult to wear if you are not golden or yellow toned. I really hoped this would be similar to MAC Lady Danger without being matte alas it is not, hey ho you win some you loose some.
Shade choices aside on the whole the formula is nothing short of amazing in my opinion!
Each shade has a soft butter like texture that feels like liquid on the lips, is hydrating and offers full opaque coverage in one quick swipe...it doesn't get much better than that.
I also didn't find that the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Lipstick formula clung to dry areas nor did it bleed or feather throughout the day but offered four hours of wear per application.
If there is a shade you adore I suggest snapping it up asap as for a £7 lipstick they really are rather fabulous!

These look SO SO SO amazing.... I wish I was more daring in my lip colors because these look SO great.... Maybe this will be the time that I try something different and steer away from my usual nude or MLBB color... I am loving all of those I don't even know which I'd choose to try! I always keep it simple with a bright lip, I personally just contour my face with a little bronzer and team it with a simple slick of black liner and lots of mascara!
