One of 2013's must have skin care items so far has to be Clarins Double Serum and with so many claims popping up that is as close to a modern day skin care miracle I of course had to jump on the bandwagon.
Essentially Clarins Double Serum is composed of two compounds : Hydric and Lipidic, one being oil and one being water (prizes if you can guess which is which) and is the result if 27 years of research...older than myself and most reading this!
"More than just a serum, this is the only intensive anti-ageing treatment rich in 20 plant extracts that boosts the skin's vital functions. A unique formula that can be used in two ways for a visibly youthful look: - skin looks firmer, wrinkles appear smoother, - the complexion looks more even and regains its glow -pores appear less visible. Dermatologically tested, non-comedogenic."
In consumer tests, after just one use stated that:
- 88% smoother skin
- 82% more radiant skin
- 73% more toned skin
Four weeks later, the same testers reported:
- 88% less visible pores
- 88% more even complexion
- 86% firmer, more elastic skin
- 79% reduced wrinkles
So what did I encounter after a month of use? My pores are a huge problem area for me and I would love to say that this is a miracle cure and I now have no visible pores but that would be a big fat lie, however unlike other oil based problems this hasn't further blocked my pores and I am hopeful that with continuous use that my pores will shrink a little. I do want to quickly mention that unlike a typical serum this has an oily texture and is more akin in sensation with a facial oil than serum, it does take a few seconds to absorb into the skin but once it has there is no oily residue left behind.
Clarins Double Serum has however evened out my complexion - with the whipping winds of January I was looking a little splodgy and after a few uses that was completely gone.
The elasticity claim is not something I can comment on due to age but it certainly does add moisture to the skin so in turn it will be boosting collagen supplies and I guess that is what helps reduce and prevent wrinkles. So less of what it didn't do and what it did do - I have found that over a month of use and I only use this product at night has resulted in brighter skin that is even in texture and free of any dry areas. I am also accrediting this for the reduction of oil on my forehead...I wish I could say the same for my cheeks.
Now the thing that makes me adore this serum more than I really should is the positive effects it has on my make-up, never before has my make-up glided on so well and blended with such ease and that is without a primer! I feel that if you have normal skin or no issues with make-up fading you could skip primer and use this in it's place as skin is left so silky smooth after a few uses. I am finding it really difficult to express just how wonderful this serum is through words...it's one of those products that seeing really is believing.
Do I recommend Clarins Double Serum? A big fat YES! It is one of the few serums that can be used on younger skin (20+) and on all skin types including us that have been blessed with oily skin which is fairly rare. Of course results will be dependent on age and skin type but for those like myself who are in their mid twenties and worrying a little about father time being a little cruel in the years to come I highly suggest adding this to your routine as prevention is your best defense.
Phew that was a lengthy post!

For me it may be a bit early for anti-age serum..
ReplyDeleteBut a result of 27 years of research, man that sounds insane....-.- I can imagine me purchasing it in 7/8 years though, great review :)
xx
Dermatologists are saying that anti-aging products should be in your skin care routine starting at 20!!!
DeleteSun and other environmental factors start breaking down collagen after 20 years of life. Even if you don't get this one, get something. You will thank yourself in 7 or 8 years :)
I NEED this!
