I received this sponge from Konjac Sponge Co. in my goodie bag when I attended the iFabbo conference in London last month. I had never seen or heard of anything like it before so I was interested in trying it out.

Here's the lowdown; we all know that using natural products to cleanse our faces is good, right?  But what about the tools that we use with these products, too? This sponge is made entirely out of konjac fibre, from the konjac potato (Amorphophallus Konjac), which is a plant native to Asia. The natural alkalinity of the sponge balances out the pH of the skin, whilst massaging and stimulating blood flow. Here are some of the other beneficial goodies that are packed in to this little sponge: Protein, carbohydrate, iron, phosphorus, copper, zinc, vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin D, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin C and folic acid.

There are a range of sponges to choose from from Konjac Sponge Co., the one I got is infused with French Red Clay, which is supposed to do wonders for dry and sensitive skin. The sponge has a bouncy, rubbery texture, and I was quite shocked to see that it was already damp when I pulled it out of the packet.

To use the sponge, you just have to rinse it through to hydrate it as it dries up between each use, and then use it to massage your face or body in circular motions. The directions say that it can be used with or without cleanser, and I myself prefer to use it by itself. It claims to be perfect for removing make-up, but I personally don't use it for this as I like to keep it as clean as possible. Instead, I use this as a quick fix-up in the morning (yay for an extra ten minutes in bed!), and in the evening after I take my make-up off and before I moisturise. It feels really soft and gentle on the skin and leaves my face feeling clean and refreshed.

As I mentioned earlier, there are lots of different sponges to choose from at Konjac Sponge Co., they have one to suit every skin type, and even one suitable for babies' delicate skin. If you would like to check them out, you can buy them here, for between £5-£10. They are 100% natural, colouring free and biodegradable.

*I received this item in a goodie bag. My opinion is 100% honest and my own.

Does that sound fab, I think this is a great addition to any bathroom don't you?
