Maybelline Lasting Drama 24H Gel Eyeliner

A few weeks ago Maybelline Lasting Drama 24H Gel Eyeliner was on offer in Superdrug
for less than £6 as I am very nearly finished my much loved Inglot version I thought I'd give it a whirl
seeing as it has had more than a few recommendations in the blogging world!

Housed in a little frosted glass jar - I personally hate frosted glass it just feels bizarre!
With a metal screw top lid and a complementary eye-liner brush it more than exceeds
the other high street gel liners available in terms of packaging.
However it can be argued that glass is not the most travel friendly option
with it having a tendency to break when bumped and not being allowed in air port hand luggage.

The liner is currently only available in one shade - 01 Intense Black
but I would bet money on other shades springing up in the near future.
The black gel is glossy in potted form, applies glossy but dries to an almost matte finish.
It glides on with such ease and feels light and creamy.
I found 01 Intense Black to be a true black with no blue undertones both in potted form and swatched.
Yet once applied to my eyes it takes a more grey hue but more on that later.

The complimentary brush is sturdy and well made, it is actually rather good for a freebie
It is soft yet firm and applies the liner well, making light work of fine and thick lines.
the only thing I can think that would be an improvement would be to implement a slanted edge
rather than the current rounded bristles but that is just a personal grievance.

I was rather taken by this liner until I actually applied and wore it for a day.
Maybelline claim that their gel liner is non transfer yet it creased and smudged all over my eye lid instantly,
at first I blamed this on it having a long drying time and patiently waited on it to dry and settle.
Yet 20 minutes later it was still slipping and sliding and generally just being a nuisance.
This of course could be my oily skin to blame but I did lay down a primer before application.
It also lacks the "intense colour" aspect yes it initially applies fairly black but within an hour of wear
I found the shade to fade to a mid toned blue grey hue loosing all the drama
and impact of the the promised Intense Black shade.
The 24 hour claim is a bit of a joke in reality as it failed to last much longer on my eye area
for much longer than 4 hours and it looked shoddy much before that time mark.

Have you had a better experience with this?
Or is it just another product that doesn't live up the hype?

Product Summary
Round Up - A black gel liner that comes with a complimentary brush, does not live up to Maybelline's claims of intense colour, non-transfer nor the 24 hour wear test.
Best For - Perhaps those that require a more natural black liner?
Pigmentation - Initially it is very black around the 9/10 rating yet fades and fades rapidly to the 3/10 mark.
Avaliability - Most Maybelline but it is still currently on offer on www.superdrug.com - link for £5.99.
