I recently tested, reviewed and fell head over heels in love with a lipstick,
a lipstick by the name of Maybelline Extreme Moisture Lipstick shade Pinky Beige - link
Being ever so impressed by the formula I simply had to go back for more
so today let your eyes feast on Desert Bloom!
Now the packaging is nothing to behold, in fact it verges on tacky and dated.
A copper tone plastic case houses the lipstick safely inside,
it's light and reasonably pretty but if you are looking for something designer-esque
keep on looking baby!
It's budget but hey ho I can over look it, I mean it is only a case!
Dessert Bloom is a deep pink based brown - more brown than pink.
in my opinion it almost verges on mauve.
I find the shade to run slightly cool in tone and have an ever so slight blue tone,
it is a really pretty shade but pale ladies may find this shade a little too brown.
I found it to be quite similar in tone to NYX Pecan and Bobbi Brown Powder Pink
although it is a little deeper than both shades but the same vain none the less.
This shade is most flattering on medium to dark complexions on paler tones
it can gleam a little too brown and look muddy.
Maybelline Extreme Moisture Lipsticks glide on like nothing else I own,
well maybe a lip butter or two
but none of my lipsticks glide on as smoothly and as softly as this does.
Not only is the moisture levels out of this world but the pigmentation makes the grade too.
I found this lipstick to deliver great colour pay off in one clean swipe
and did not find it to bleed, feather or apply patchy.
Once applied it has a lovely glossy finish that means you can skip the gloss if you so wish.
The only kicker so to speak with this lipstick is that it doesn't last as long as I'd hoped for.
On average I get around two hours of wear from each application,
which isn't a problem for a habitual re-applier but worth noting if you require a long lasting formula.
Product Summary
Round Up - A beautiful glossy pink brown based nude.
Best For - In my experience mid-dark skin tones but I bet fairer ladies could rock it too!
Pigmentation - (9/10) not bad for a lipstick that feels like a high quality lip balm on the lips.
Availability - All Maybelline stockists for £5.99 but Boots have a buy one get one half off deal
(out of stock online)
Oh that is stunning, seriously, please stop reviewing lipsticks, every single time you review one, it gets added to my list to buy ;P (totally kidding, review away, I am obsessed with your photos :P)
ReplyDeleteHaha I do have a slight lipstick obsession though haha :)
DeleteI think I'll try this. I struggle with dry lips and go through a ton of lip balms every month. Having only recently persevered with lipstick again, MAC has been the only brand that seems to be ok. As much as I love chanel their lipsticks are just not good for me. Your reviews, as always, are fantastic :)
ReplyDeleteIf you have dry lips this will be great :) aww thank you :)
DeleteThis looks lovely! Definitely going to go have a look at these in store. By the way, your link to the other lipstick is the wrong link, it's taking us to a Clarins one :) x

DeleteI have always over looked these because of the packaging, being a dior addict and loving its beautiful packaging I'm a bit of a snob haha. But after your first post on these I drove straight to my local boots, to my dissapointment they were all squished :( I will be looking for this one indefinitley and I can't wait to try it out!
