I find the NYX jumbo pencils to work best as bases,
that way they prolong the wear of the shade applied on top
and prevent the powder shadow from creasing throughout the day.
I have had a few comments saying that some have found these to crease
when used as an all out eyeshadow, my only advice is to attempt to buff this
well and truly into the eye area and ensure you have primed the lid before hand
and allow the shade to dry down completely.
If that does not work you may just have to admit defeat and use it as a base.
The packaging is nothing to behold just very plain and simple
but the pencil is weighted so it is a little easier to apply.
You can also pop the bottom of these jumbo pencils off
and using heat depot them into a jar to minimise waste from sharpening.
A simple search on YouTube should yield the answers on how to do this,
if my video camera ever arrives I will upload one myself.
Milk is my least favourite out of the shades I posses, I find the white too stark on my skin tone
and to be blunt i'm not a fan of white eyeshadows at all.
Personal preference aside Milk is a matte white shade that is as soft as butter, blends well and is highly pigmented.
Milk if you like white shades is a great all rounder as it can be used as a base for the majority of eye shades
and as it is matte in formula you do not have to worry about it altering the formula of the shade you apply on top.
I do think Milk is a good starting shade and like I said it will suit a majority of looks and colours.
I prefer to use cream products as bases to lay powder products on top off,
that way it intensify's the powder shade and prolongs the wear of the powder product,
this is particularly helpful if like I you have oily skin.
However you can use these as an eyeshadow, eyeliner and depending on the shade as a highlighter.
NYX is a fairly reasonable priced brand so if you are looking for eyeshadow bases
you could do a lot worse than these pencils, not to mention they come in a wide array of shades.
Product Summary

Best For - A multitude of things but from my personal experience they work best as eyeshadow bases.
Pigmentation - (8/10) Great particularly for a cream product.
Availability - NYX is not the easiest brand to source in the U.K but you can pick these up from Love Make- Up.
and from selected BHS stores prices of which I do not know. £4.50/5g
This looks amazing, I particularly fancy the gold shade xxx
ReplyDeleteCould you use it in the rims of your eyes and inner corners to look a little more awake instead of a shadow base? x

ReplyDelete@sandra - Ah i bet it looks a lot less like white paint on you haha :) I'm going to try and get this one to work though :) x
ReplyDelete@maria - can you get them where you live? x
@kumiko - I wish I liked it I really do but it is too bright on me :( cottage cheese sounds good that may be next on my list :) x
@aprettyobsession - oooh what shades do you have and recommend? I like neutrals :) yes i'm quite a fan of nyx too :) x
I own two of these. But I am not able to use this for my waterline because it tends to get really soft and clumps onto my lashes. I prefer it as a base :3
ReplyDeleteI think milk would be to stark on a lot of people. I think it'd work well as a highlight on pale skins though :)
