Do not be fooled by my profile photo or any photo you see of me with straight hair,
that is not my natural hair that is my poor follicles after a large dose of heat
and with various straightening utensils and products thrown in the mix.
My natural hair is super crazily thick, think rope and you are half way there
not only is it thick but it frizzes like a mother fudger.
So when I was asked to test a few products designed to fight this I thought why not?
John Frida's Frizz Ease Daily Miracle Treatment - Not online at the moment.
At the moment I have been skipping traditional conditioner in favour of a twice a week
deep conditioning treatment and a light spray of John Frida's Frizz Ease Daily Miracle Treatment.
My hair seems to appreciate such methods as it feels softer, easier to style and not as bogged
down as it did when I used bottled conditioner with each wash.
I wouldn't say this leave on conditioner did makes much difference in terms of frizz
but my hair does feel much better for it which is the main thing.
Spray in leave-in conditioners are great for those who only require a light conditioner
so if you have fine or greasy hair I suggest giving such product a whirl
to see if it helps out any!
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver - £4.99 - link
Before I blow dry my hair straight or leave it to dry naturally I use an egg sized blob of mousse
this helps to define my curls and really does fight the frizz from the get go,
however some can leave my hair feeling heavy and sticky.
I found the Frizz Ease Curl reviver to be non sticky,
it did not leave the hair with a crunchy like coating
and it also has a built in heat protectant so you can skip that step if you wish.
Although it is aimed at curly/wavy hair I find this works just as well on straight hair types,
when using in a blow dry for a soft and smooth finish - my sister put that to test!
I like this mousse like product but don't think I'd re-purchase this
as I feel there is other mousse products that work just as well
for a fraction of the price...sorry!
John Frieda Secret Agent Flawless Finishing Crème - £4.99 - link
John Frida Frizz Ease Secret Agent Perfecting Crème is my secret weapon against frizz
and is one of the products from John Frieda that I buy frequently.
I use this when I awaken to tease my curls into lovely big bouncy ringlets minus the frizz factor.
I also whip this out throughout the day and smooth a teeny tiny amount
over any fly away/stray hairs and to any curls that look lack lustre.
The great thing about this balm like crème is that it is non sticky and does not give you product build up
the result is shiny not sticky or greasy curls without the tiniest amount of frizz.
If you have curly/wavy hair I deem this a must have!
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray - £4.99 link
The last product is actually great for all hair types particularly those
who have to encounter high levels of humidity throughout the day.
I use Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray to finish and set my hair
and I find that not only does it hold the hair in place with a soft and flexible hold
but it counter reacts any frizz due to humidity.
I have only recently discovered this but if it can hold its own in a sticky night club
(which it can and did) it will work wonders when the balmy summer days come a knocking.
I think I will test this on holiday and report back to you all.
I have also been using these products to attempt (attempt being the word)
to create California Beach Waves but I lack the skills big time!
Things always look easier when other people do it, don't they haha?
The above products were sent for consideration of review.
I was not paid or compensated in any way.
My review is 100% honest.
I love the Frizz Ease range, I have long-ish thick wavy hair and I haven't tried one of their products yet I didn't like. 3-day straight and the hair masque are my favourites. Definitely going to try the leave in conditioner now though.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's &7.50 for 2 products in Boots at the moment, even the ones that retail for 6.99 each, bargain!
The 3 day straight didn't really work in my hair either must be due to our hairs texture etc as it worked amazingly well in my friends fine hair. Wow really that is amazing offer I may pop in and stock up haha :) x
DeleteI love this range too, have used the original frizz ease since I can remember. I think Im going to have to try that finishing cream too, sounds promising! :)
ReplyDeletehaha me too :) I used the extra strength one all through my teens :) you should it is amazing I love it on curly days :) x
Deletemy hair is so straight and i used to overload it with curling products so id get nice californian waves. no no, i was left with crunchy, disgusting, still straight hair haha!
ReplyDeletegreat reviews on the products though :)
DeleteHaha I would kill for your naturally straight hair mine takes a good hour to get it remotely straight x
DeleteSounds like we have EXACTLY the same hair!! Love Frizz Ease stuff :) xx
ReplyDeletehaha you'll feel my pain when it comes to straightening it then haha :) x
DeleteI need need need to go and get that Secret Agent Creme, it sounds amazing! I'm trying to wear my hair curly more to minimise heat damage now, so this review came at a perfect time!
ReplyDeleteI was put off John Freida for a while after I tried the 3-day-straight which did NOTHING for my hair but make it extra greasy, but these products sound great!

That is exactly what I am doing :) heat is just so harsh on my hair :(
Deleteyeah 3 day straight did nada for me either but works amazingly well on my friends with fine hair so I think that may be why? x
I can't believe your hair isn't naturally straight! I honestly never would have guessed, it looks so lovely!
ReplyDeleteMy hair is too very curly and frizzy... I hate it! I definitely want to try the John Frieda range... Especially the Flawless Finishing Creme!
Oh lord no mine is a giant ball of frizz and waves haha!
DeleteAny photo you see of me with straight hair is all an illusion haha :)
yes the flawless finishing creme it's great and honestly works, you should show us your curly hair :) x
It was really good to read this, I've been wondering whether or not to buy the creme but I definitely will now xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad it helped :) yes the creme is a good send I must have around 3 tubes that's how much I rely on it :) x
Delete*god send...I get too carried away haha
DeleteOh John Frieda. I remember when his stuff started getting popular (back when I was in middle school) and I would beg and beg for some Frizz Ease serum. Time and a bad chemical relaxer have settled down my hair somewhat but this brings back nostalgic bad hair days~
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain, did your mother also say embrace your natural hair people would kill for your waves/curls while you mutter something along the lines well let them have it? No just me haha. I got my hair relaxed when I around 18/19 and it didn't really do much other than flatten the roots the ends where still curly..most odd x
DeleteSounds like the products are worth a try! :)
ReplyDeleteit really is :) x
DeleteI have to try the Secret Agent creme, that does sound great. My hair is crazy, frizzy, and insanely curly. Unfortunately it has not responded well to earlier John Frieda Frizz Ease products, it made my hair a bit... crispy (for lack of a better word) but as I am still searching for that miracle product I am willing to keep trying EVERYTHING :D And yes, i did tell my mom 'let them have it' too ;)
