We've now reached the festive home stretch, in which there are only eight more shopping days left until the main event. Cue unwanted stress and panic buying; what do you purchase for your picky cousin who you only see twice a year at the most? Has someone already got Nan a dressing gown or not? I've been there, weeping on the lounge floor covered in shards of tinsel and last minute regret, promising myself that next year would be different and this time around it has been, thanks to Build My Gift.
Online shopping is great but you are mercy of one store, especially if you plan on taking advantage of any gift wrapping options, meaning your well meaning token of affection may be skimpy and frankly poorly presented. As a beauty writer and lover, more often than not the duty of bestowing fragrance, cosmetics and general "smellies" falls upon my lap, and as you may have noticed, beauty retailers don't often stock sweet treats and general "knick knacks". Here is where I find myself either giving up on the online shopping dream entirely, or scheduling time (which I don't really have at the moment) to visit my nearest supermarket to purchase a few chocolate based treats. Then of course there is issue of adding another gift to one that is already pre-wrapped, if your head is spinning at the thought then you've got to try Build My Gift and thank me later.
So yes, I have a cousin who lives abroad and only really comes home once or twice a year - she's more than ten years older than me and truthfully we just aren't that close. She doesn't understand my vocation and I don't pretend that I care, and yet for Granny's sake we all pretend to get along - I'm sure you can relate on some level. Just because we aren't "besties" or even regular callers, doesn't mean I don't want to gift her something great, something that I would be delighted to unwrap myself and when Build My Gift got in touch, I knew she would be the very person to road test this marvellous concept.
Build My Gift let's you be entirely in control of what you gift in three simple steps: select what luxury items you want to include in your own bespoke, beautifully wrapped and presented gift box, select a greeting card (there are several to choose from, including all the main holidays and life events) and then enter where you are sending your Build My Gift package. If you are really savvy, you can cut out the middle (wo)man out and send it directly to your recipient (with free delivery, it would be rude not to), cancelling out your need to lug home another gift on the 23rd via National Rail (if you have to make a similar journey home this year, you have my deepest sympathies).
As the designated beauty buyer, that is of course the route I took with my Build My Gift package; I know my cousin enjoys make-up but likes a practical and natural approach to cosmetics, so the Clarins Festive Treat - Eyes and Lips kit, coupled with a beautiful Kate Loxton pouch couldn't be more ideal. I also added a few Hotel Chocolate treats because it is nice to be nice isn't it? The grand total came to £30 - that includes delivery, my luxury picks, a greetings card and of course my items beautiful presented. Great and convenient value, wouldn't you agree?
Who said gifting had to be overly expensive nor stressful - even when pressed for time?
