Perfumes The A-Z Guide by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez
If ever you have struggled describing fragrances, or simply want to increase your general knowledge of over 400 existing perfume, cologne and Eau de Toilettes, this is the book for you. This is a detailed yet non-frills guide that breaks down all the elements and categories of fragrance (the authors can be a tad scathing, particularly towards celebrity fragrances which can be amusing). A must read for any collector and beauty blogger for that matter; the only downside is it may make you reconsider any current or future scented purchases. You can find Perfumes The A-Z Guide by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez via Amazon for £10.55 - link.
Think of this as the print version of the Into the Gloss, Top Shelf series. A beautifully composed book that details the top beauty products (some of which are truly surprising) of many well known women in the media. You will read this in one sitting and you will come away with a wish list as long as your arm. I'm currently living in hope that a follow up edition is in the works and that it is a case of sooner rather than later. You can find Skin Deep by Bee Shapiro via Amazon for £16.88 - link.
Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, colour, creeds and of course ages, this coffee-table book celebrates just that with 500 utterly breathtaking portraits from all over the world. The great thing about The Atlas of Beauty is that most of the portraits are a, of regular people and b, there is a small biography to correspond with each image so you can learn a little about each subject. In a word - inspiring. Find it again on Amazon for £16.32 - link.
Perfume A Century of Scents by Lizzie Ostrom
I realise that I've pretty much shown my distain for historical books in regards to the topic of beauty but I promise this one is in a league of its own. Perfume A Century of Scents is a charming yet educational breakdown of the most iconic fragrances of the last century, free from snobbery and never patronising. Yes it is a fairly lengthy read but it is one of those great - and rare - books that you can easily dip in and out of. If your vanity is littered with bottle of fragrance, this should be next on your to read list - you owe it to yourself. You can track it down via Amazon for £12.04 - link.
In true blogger cliche fashion, I'm going to recommend that you snuggle up with a scented candle whilst flicking through the pages of any of the above - pumpkin spice latte optional of course.
