The £3 Halloween Candle Range You Need to Try

There are three things I love in life: Halloween, a good bargain and most recently the store B&M - when all three come together we have pure magic my friends. While doing my weekly scour of such shop, I stumbled across no less than four varieties of huge Halloween candles and at just £2.99 each, it goes without saying that I bought one of each (well that and the fact the above photo kinda gives it all away). Not only are the B&M Halloween candles cheap and cheerful but they smell pretty great too - I would argue that they are more Autumn fragrances than Halloween but then again not everyone is as prone to nit-picking as I am.

Before I share a quick run down of each fragrance, let me quickly divulge that the B&M Halloween candles are huge, and I mean HUGE. For sake of comparison - well that and it happens to be the largest candle I own - I have popped a Bath and Body Works Candle beside one of the Halloween scents, and as you can see the B&M candle dwarfs it. Admittedly the packaging of the B&M candles may not be the sleekest (the graphic label is a little tired) but as they are encased in large, glass jars you have a ready made vase or candle holder, once said candle is finished.

Much like the other B&M candles I reviewed here, the quality of fragrance does vary per candle, let alone per scent. By that I mean despite two candles being the same scent, one may be more perfumed than the other, and as such you might want to sniff a few candles before heading to the check out line. Overall that is the only real quality issue; as each candle features two wicks they do burn evenly and due to size, up to 32 hours which is pretty impressive.

The four scents that I have (there may be other options depending on store location but don't hold me to that) are:

Carmel Pumpkin Swirl - My least favourite of the bunch, in hindsight I think I got a little too swept up in the hysteria of finding Halloween candles at such a bargain friendly price that I purchased this purely on impulse, rather than if I liked the scent or not. This scent has a strong spice note which I believe might be nutmeg, coupled with a hint of super sweet caramel - I personally don't pick up on any trace of pumpkin. I may not particularly enjoy this scent but I can vouch that it does have the best scent throw and will quickly fill a room with spicy but sweet notes in less than 10 minutes.

Pumpkin Pecan Waffles - This is the scent you need to rush out and purchase, it has a certain Bath and Body Works vibe: sweet and of course slightly nutty with comforting notes of vanilla. A great "foody" type candle that will see you through Autumn and beyond. The only downside is that this particular scent (or at least my candle) is not the most fragrant of the bunch, once lit, the scent throw is pretty gentle but then again not everyone enjoys strong nor obvious fragrances.

Pumpkin Spiced Cheesecake - Despite the lengthy title this is the most basic scent of the bunch. If you can imagine the most synthetic notes of pumpkin, vanilla and cinnamon blended together, you'll understand exactly what this candle is all about. Again this is a fairly strong scent and as such, a great way to tap into seasonal home fragrances without breaking the bank.

Vanilla Pumpkin - A creamy vanilla scent that does not really offer any traces of Pumpkin, rather this is soft and reminiscent of vanilla ice cream. If you like vanilla candles, this is a no-brainer not to mention quite the steal.

Who knew B&M would be this years Bath and Body Works?
