In case my title doesn't quite give it away Barry M have just launched two new Gelly Hi-Shine lip products - I would deem them to be a cross between a highly pigmented glossy balm and an ultra nourishing lipstick. If you have admired the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Lips from afar due to the pink/red colour selection then perhaps the new addition of a deep nude and a bright coral will be more to your taste.
I won't dwell on the packaging - it is similar to nearly all lip crayons of this calibre the main difference is that Barry M's offering are somewhat slimmer. Rather annoyingly you do have to sharpen the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Lips should it become blunt which does put me off in all truthfulness as I find this type of pencil to be a nightmare to sharpen due to the soft texture. To be blunt you waste more than you use, I will always seek out mechanical lip crayons over anything you have to sharpen.
The two new shades are Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Lips in shade 6 Orion which is a deep nude based pink, it is pretty similar to MAC Modesty but far glossier and does lean fairly neutral so it should suit most. The other shade is 7 Sigma which is a bright, orange based Coral which is some respects reminds me to MAC Ever Hip Lipstick right down to the high sheen finish. Again it is neutral with a strong yellow undertone. Orion is great for everyday wear as it gives the impression of fuller lips, where as I see Sigma as the perfect Spring/Summer hue to brighten the face.
I'm sure the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Lips will draw comparisons to Clinique Chubby Sticks et al but in my opinion they are closest to Revlon's Colorburst Lacquer Balms - a soft, smooth texture that provides a good does of pigmentation with a super glossy finish. In my opinion the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Lips are a little sticky not anything that is uncomfortable but notable none the less. In terms of wear I achieved around two hours of wear from the shades that I wore test - they don't completely wear off rather the glossy sheen quickly disappears leaving behind a light stain. Due to the slippery texture you may want to team the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Lips with a lip liner to prolong wear. I don't love the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Lips but then again I didn't love the Revlon version either and wouldn't say they are worlds apart in terms of formula the main difference is that Barry M Gelly Lips are slightly less pigmented.
You can find both the new Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Lips via Superdrug for £4.99 each or on a two for £7 offer

These look nice but I get annoyed sharpening crayons like this as well. Much prefer the Soap & Glory ones because they're retractable and it saves so much product and time!

I really wanted to try these, but as they don't seem to last a long time on the lips I don't think I will in the end... it's too bad because the colours are pretty, especially the Orion shade!
