Jo Malone Intense Dark Amber and Ginger Lily Candle

Jo Malone Intense Dark Amber and Ginger Lily Candle

Yesterday it was rather wet and wild in Glasgow and I had nowhere to be I figured what better excuse to burn my newly gifted Jo Malone Intense Dark Amber and Ginger Lily Candle. If like myself you enjoy strong, clean, slightly masculine and not overly floral based scents this could be the fragrance for you (you can also purchase the intense cologne individually).

"To uplift, to wind down, or simply to add an air of luxury. Transform the atmosphere with the scent of amber and black orchid. Illuminated by the clean sensuality of black cardamom, ginger and water lily."

Despite what the rather glamorous black packaging may suggest this is not a heavy scent at all. Yes it is intense with an incredible scent throw but fresh, clean and uplifting at the same time. As odd as this may seem Jo Malone Intense Dark Amber and Ginger Lily isn't floral in an obvious way. Sure you get traces of the beautiful lily note bit in my opinion the ginger and black cardamom really transforms this into something special. A woody oriental that reminds me of dark, wet nights in the city - it's dark yet light, sexy yet not obvious (sometimes it has a slightly leathery edge) and unlike anything else I have ever owned. If you are a fan of Malin + Goetz Dark Rum Cologne then I can say with certainty this is for you. Normally I don't like to match my personal fragrance choice to that of my home but I am so tempted to splurge on a bottle of Jo Malone Intense Dark Amber and Ginger Lily Cologne. Pricey yes but worth every penny - yes it really is that good!

  4. You and I sound like we have similar fragrance tastes :) I love anything that smells very masculine and sexy - things like Alien and Pink Vetivier, so I think the cologne version of this would be right up myalley!
