For a good few years now Space.NK have released a festive candle - Space.NK Shimmering Spice Candle. Each time around the packaging has been different but the scent remains the same. I want to say Space.NK Shimmering Spice reminds me of Christmas but that is an utter lie even if my sister states that it reminds her of Christmas Cake! In my opinion it has the warmth and welcoming of a warm, cosy fire after a day of being out and about in the typical blustery British Winter weather.
So what exactly are the notes within the Space.NK Shimmering Spice Candle if both my sister and the brand in question are labelling it as a"quintessential Christmas scent". Cinnamon, spice, orange and cedar to be precise. What exactly the "spice" (jings I do love a good quation or two) is I can't tell you but it isn't your typical, overbearing spice note - it is warming and more mellow than cinnamon which I can't detect at all. Rather the citrus note is a nice surprise which is warmed and dare I say matured with the addition of cedar. In my opinion the Space.NK Shimmering Spice Candle has a slightly boozy fragrance - like a rich cognac based punch? Tinges of fruit but overall spicy and with plenty of body (steady on this isn't a singles ad!). If you don't enjoy hearty scents that fill a room this won't be for you but if like myself you are the biggest spice fan this could be the perfect Autumn/Winter candle for you!
Now for the packaging, a dreamy purple outer that features outlines of intricate silver tree branches and little cut out circles to allow the candle light to shine out and form patterns within a room. I like that it isn't your typical Christmas design and although almost lilac in colour I do think most will agree it has been tastefully executed? I have plans to nestle it alongside last years and this years Diptyque festive launches for a pretty fireplace display...then again it is only September and I am getting entirely carried away!
Space.NK Shimmering Spice Candle 2014 £15-£30 via Space.NK.
This should launch this coming October.
