MAC A Novel Romance Eyeshadow Palette Review

I apologise that this review is a little late given that the MAC A Novel Romance Eyeshadow Palette has sold out online but I have found it on Debenhams with a good stock level and felt it was a case of now or never. There is very few ready made MAC palettes that I truly adore but MAC A Novel Romance Eyeshadow quad has quickly become my everyday staple palette. Oddly it isn't what you'd deem a typical neutral shade selection and yet totally wearable.

There's not really much to say about the packaging as with all MAC packaging the bulk is constructed from plastic which makes it durable and long lasting - not to mention easy to wipe clean. The only thing I dislike about ready made MAC quads (colour selection aside) is that the shades are not easily removed meaning you can not chop and change shades within your existing MAC eyeshadow collection. On the plus side any MAC ready made eyeshadow quad does work out cheaper than purchasing four individual MAC eyeshadows and a separate MAC palette as a heads up.

Anyway back to the shades within the MAC A Novel Romance Eyeshadow Palette - four cool toned eyeshadows, two of which are oddly green toned and the others mauve/purple. As someone who tends to stockpile neutral eyeshadows this is not a typical purchase for me and yet I can not stop reaching for it. Soft, muted pops of colour that blend with ease and have a certain Autumnal vibe. The shades are as follows: My Fantasy (veluxe pearl) - a soft, light golden olive that is bizarrely cool in tone. Fall in Lust (frost) - a light, purple tinged mauve with a strong cool grey undertone. Rising Passions (velvet) - a golden glitter based deep green, a great smoky eye shade and lastly Dance in the Dark (matte) - an almost black deepest purple. Personally I like to blend Fall in Lust all over my eye lid and define using Dance in the Dark, it really compliments my blue/grey eyes and blonde hair. The green combo has been my go to for evening wear too. Like I said not my typical shade selection but surprisingly wearable.

All of the shadows within the MAC A Novel Romance Eyeshadow Palette are well pigmented which can be improved upon if teamed with a primer or applied wet. They are well formulated so that there is next to no product fall out despite their slightly dry texture. In terms of wear I find that as with all MAC eyeshadows on my oily lids they stay put for around 5 hours before creasing but with a primer they stay firmly in place until I decide to remove them. Although not one for green or purple eye make up in general I really rate the MAC A Novel Romance Eyeshadow Palette and would recommend it to all who want to add a little pop of colour into their make-up bag. It is also a great palette for beginners.
