I have frequented my local Lush store for years now and I mean years - maybe around 10 years or so and only very recently caved and decided to sniff test Lush The Olive Branch Shower Gel. Yes sniff, not purchase but sniff! You see I don't really like Olives which I guess is seemingly bizarre for a woman of Mediterranean descent - I can eat them, I just don't love them so the idea of smelling like Olives wasn't all that appealing. Boy was I wrong...
You see Lush The Olive Branch Shower Gel is so much more than a typical Olive scented shower gel (should such a thing exist), sure it contains Olive Oil to soften the skin but the fragrance is much more complex. I must warn you that this is one of those products that truly comes alive when in use rather than sitting in the bottle in terms of scent . With the combination of water and warmth Lush The Olive Branch Shower Gel transforms from a seemly unisex musky offering to a woody, earthen scent (vine leaves) that is spiked with citrus oils (mandarin and bergamot) for a uniquely uplifting experience. It reminds me of strolling around the Spanish countryside as a youngster - the dry scent of grass and soil filling the air surrounded by the lush (no pun intended) green landscape.
As with every Lush product the ingredients are not selected based on fragrance rather on what they can do for your skin. In the case of the Olive Branch Fair Trade Olive Oil has been included as it is a great moisturiser (the olive oil does tend to settle at the top of the gel so do give it a good shake before use), Vine Leaf to also condition and soothe the skin and Bergamot Oil to deeply cleanse and to uplift the mind. If like myself you aren't the best at remembering or should that be bothering to moisturise your body daily this is the perfect daily shower gel as it cleanses and nourishes in one quick step. I feel it is only my duty to state that this is the best shower gel out there to shave your legs and what not with - the Olive Oil allows the razor to glide over the skin with ease and prevents the skin from drying out.
Yes it took me a while to discover Lush's The Olive Branch Shower Gel but it has swiftly become a favourite, so much so I am now on my second bottle. You can find it here £4.50-£15.45.
ooh this sounds so nice!
