Illamasqua Velvet Blusher in Flirtatious

For Summer 2014 Illamasqua have just launched a matte collection which includes Illamasqua Velvet Blusher in Flirtatious, the only coral pink blush you will need this coming Spring/Summer. If you have yet to try Illamasqua's Velvet Blush formula let me be the one to tell you that you are in for a treat.

The packaging is what we have come to know from Illamasqua - an indented square shape, plastic with a large transparent window in the middle so you can see the shade held inside. I have used Illamasqua blushes for well over a year now and can honestly say that never has one smashed or crumbled and I am far from careful.

For Summer 2014 Illamasqua have launched two new shades of their Velvet Blusher formula - Conviction, a bright matte pink that is an online exclusive and Flirtatious which is a bright pink based coral that can be found both online and in store. In my opinion Illamaqua Flirtatious is going to be the better selling shade of the two as it is so versatile (I've applied to my lips) and will suit most skin tones, a warm but not overly so peachy coral that has equal amounts of pink and orange. It really is the perfect shade for Summer which will look great on tanned and deep complexions and give a peaches and cream effect on those with a lighter skin tone. Personally I think it is somewhat similar in tone to Illamsaqua's Tremble Blush, not an outright dupe but similar.

The texture of Illamasqua Velvet Blushers are something else, they are a cream formulation that is pretty firm to the touch but once warmed with the fingers they somewhat melt and glide on to the skin before settling to a velvet matte finish. In my experience the best way to apply is to place the product on to your skin using your finger tips and blend out using either a fluffy brush or your finger tips. With a brush you will get a more subtle effect which may be better suited to pale skin tones? The beauty of the Illamasqua Velvet Blusher formula is that although matte it does look flat on the skin nor does it cake. As someone with large pores I rather like that the soft matte texture somewhat blurs the appearance of my uneven skin texture all without the aid of a silicone primer, which I will be avoiding this coming summer. I know that sometime dry skin and cream blushes don't exactly go hand in hand but I can't see this formula clinging to dry patches and for my oily readers you will be please to know that it doesn't slide off the skin either. I typically can achieve 8 hours of oil free wear from this blush which given my skin type is rather good going.
