MAC Brow Set in Beguile

I have really fair eyebrows which is annoying for two reasons: a, I'm not naturally blonde so they have no right to be so light (in my minds eye at least) and b, finding a suited brow product that doesn't leave my brows looking nothing short of ridiculous is near impossible. At the moment I prefer tinted brow gels over everything else as they look so natural, stay in place for hours and are easy to use. My friend a fellow bottle blonde recommended I give MAC Brow Set in Beguile a whirl and so here we are...

The packaging is what you would expect from MAC - sleek and practical and if you didn't know any better you would swear it was a light brown mascara for the lashes not the brows. However once you remove the brush you will notice that the spoolie is shorter and chubbier than your standard mascara offering - if you have medium to full brows this is a dream to apply as it quickly tints, shapes and sets the brows in one swift movement, if you have thin brows this can be a little messy and trickier to use. I have fairly full brows and find the easiest way to use the spoolie is to concentrate on working the tip through the brow hairs that way you have more precision and control - it is also the easiest way to shape the brows in my experience.

The odd thing about MAC Brow Set in Beguile is that although a light cool toned taupe shade it contains a golden shimmer element. Bizarre right? The good news is that it doesn't translate onto the brows at all, rather it is a great shade for those who find most brow products a little too deep or warm in tone for their naturally fair brows - I have seen this on blondes, red heads and even mid toned brunettes and it seems to adapt and suit the wearer for a very natural tinted appearance. I wouldn't recommend MAC Brow Set in Beguile for those who prefer a stronger brow look as that simply isn't going to happen.

Initially I was a little worried that Beguile would be too dark in tone for my brows but once applied it of course looks lighter and more realistic on the brows than say a powder or pencil. You also have the added benefit of the fact that along with tinting the brows this mascara once set won't wear off or succumb to oily skin - a problem I have encountered with powders. The only downside is that much like any other brow mascara once dry this does leave the brows feeling a little crispy and stiff which may not be to everyone's taste but I personally like the reassurance that it will with stand all the day may throw at it. Is it my go to brow product? At the moment yes, nothing else is as light in tone as this brow mascara but I do still rate Maybelline's Brow Drama Gel in Dark Blonde, I just wish it was a little softer in tone.
