Lanolips Banana 3 in 1 Balm

Boy do I have a trip down memory lane for you today...

Do you recall bright yellow banana flavoured medicine as a child - I think and I say think because I never paid all that much attention being a child and all that it was an antibiotic? Whenever I was sick as a child I used to cross my fingers that the doctor would prescribe that bright yellow banana flavoured concoction. Well all those memories of having some childhood bug or other came flooding back when I inhaled the bright banana fragrance of this multi-purpose balm.

Oddly I loathe bananas as a fruit but rather enjoy banana fragranced products and Lanolips Banana 3 in 1 Balm is no different. Oddly although this balm is constructed using 100% natural ingredients it almost smells and tastes artificially sweet - like those banana foam type sweets you find in the cinema pick and mix? The scent comes from Natural Banana extract which has been been used in skincare for decades as bananas are naturally rich in Vitamins A,B,C and E. They are also enriched with potassium and natural oils along with being packed with antioxidants. Banana is an excellent emollient and can help to promote healthy skin. Pretty cool huh?

The other main ingredient is of course Lanolin which is a byproduct that is found in wool (more often than not sheep. As Lanolin's (when found within nature) only role is to protect wool and the skin against the harsh conditions of the environment and as it can retain more than 200% of it's weight in moisture it does make sense that it is used within the beauty industry.

So what exactly are the 3-in-1 benefits of this somewhat novelty balm? First of all this moisturises the lips like no other (you can also use it on other areas of the body should you wish), no it won't heal chapped lips but it does lock moisture in as well as acting a barrier. Secondly it adds a light glossy but non-sticky finish to lips which can also be layered over any other lip product of your choosing and lastly it protects the lips from drying out.

Not bad for something that smells good enough to eat! Find it here for £8.99 - link.
