The seasons have began to change and typically that means one thing for me - broken sleep. Now I am not going to pretend for one moment that I suffer from Insomnia because I don't but the habits of past dictate that once the weather changes so does my sleep pattern. Luckily it only lasts for a few days and as I am somewhat accustom to it I have a few tricks up my sleeve in the form of sleep aid products (no sleeping tablets here) to help make the transition into slumber that little easier.
One brand that does "sleepy" fragrances rather well without the need for artificial notes is Neom - I kid you not when I say that their Tranquillity range is enough to knock out even the most hyperactive mind. A blend of English lavender coupled with sweet basil and jasmine for a natural, some what heedy but totally dreamy scent. I highly recommend their Tranquillity Bath Foam if you are lucky enough to own a bath coupled with the coordinating candle...you may well nod off in the tub. If like myself you don't have the luxury of a bath snuggle up in bed with the candle, a quick spritz of the pillow mist may also be beneficial .
You can find all the Neom Tranquillity products* here and there is currently an offer on the Neom Three Steps to Sleep kit (all three full sized Tranquillity products).
The two other bath and body products I thoroughly recommend is Aromatherapy Associates Relax Deep Bath and Shower Oil, my goodness is this potent stuff. Now this aromatic pre-bedtime oil may just be my favourite night time bath and body product ever, I like to affectionately refer to it as a sleeping pill in a bottle it really is that good. For all those that have problems sleeping due to not being able to switch off or simply relax at night this is the oil for you, a blend of vetivert, chamomile and sandalwood combine to create a sleepy bed time potion that will have you counting sheep before you know it without a whiff of lavender. To use you can add a capful to bath water or simply apply to wet skin before rinsing off under a hit shower - both methods work equally well.

A new addition to my bathroom shelve is Cowshed Lazy Cow Soothing Bath and Shower Gel which again aids relaxation without any need of Lavender. Words can not sum up just how beautiful this blend of Jasmine, Chaomile and Sandalwood is - a little light Paramaviolet sweets but so much more delectable. I personally use this to soap up after a visit to the gym as I find it to not only be a great body cleanser but brilliant for soothing tired and achy muscles. The blend of natural oils also act as a form of aromatherapy clearing and relaxing the mind making it the perfect night time shower product not to mention it doubles up as a blissful bed time soak if added to bath water.

Last but not least we have my all time favourite sleep product and the one I have been faithful to for years Avon Sleeptherapy Pillow and Linen Mist (now re-branded as Planet Spa Sleep Serenity Pillow Mist but it is the same product). Nothing and I mean nothing else can compare to this when it comes to helping me nod off. A quick spray on my pillows and bed linen around half an hour before I pop into bed and as soon as I climb into bed I am literally fighting the urge not to snuggle in and drift off. I'm not sure why or how it works perhaps it is a placebo and a scent I associate with sleep but I'm content in the knowledge
that I can rely on it.

ReplyDeleteI have never tired a product to try and help me sleep but I find it really hard to switch off and fall asleep easily! My boyfriend hits the pillow and its asleep straight away and I'm just left sometimes for hours awake as my brain goes into overload! Think something like these might be really handy and help me get a good sleep :)

Love this post! Everything sounds wonderful :) I tried making my own natural sleep remedy (herbal) a while back and found that the price of the ingredients and the time it took to steep was a bit more than I could bear. I ended up trying one from http://naturalsleepformula.net that was inexpensive and worked like a charm for me. I should mention that I had really nasty insomnia. I had four little ones who all were poor sleepers as infants and toddlers. For close to nine years, I slept only when they did — which wasn’t much! When they finally started sleeping through, I think I had lost the habit of sleep. It was absolutely miserable. I wouldn’t consider prescription drugs because I have severe hypothyroid issues (also controlled naturally, I’m happy to say!). So a natural alternative was my only choice. This one has worked wonders.
