Regular readers of this blog will have seen me harp on about how wonderful Urban Decay's De-Slick Setting Spray is especially if you have oily skin like myself. Well ladies and gentlemen where De-Slick tends to set I have found an equally if not better priming spray in Urban Decay Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray.
In a nut shell this is a primer in liquid spray on form that you can use to encourage make-up to adhere to the skin longer, on it's own as a skin pick me up not to mention it can be sprayed on at any point throughout the day to refresh and hydrate the skin. This is Urban Decay's first soothing formulation that is laden with vitamins most notably vitamin B6 which is said to absorb oil, reduce the size of pores and to calm any signs of redness. This has been combined with vitamin E which is an antioxidant that can help to repair and protect the skin from radicals such as pollution and the sun. But that's not all folks, this mist also contains willow bark which is said to be rich in salicylic acid to gentle exfoliate and brighten the skin not to mention it is great at helping reduce the size of blemishes and encourage them to "heal" quicker. Pretty impressive for a spray you apply before your make-up non?
In my opinion yes, yes it is!
I used to rely on De-Slick daily but have found the new formulation of Urban Decay Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray to must better suited to my skin type and for those heavy night outs when camera bulbs are flashing, I do on occasion combine the two sprays to really bust any traces of shine.
However the Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray is more than sufficient to help keep oil at bay and prolonging the wear of my make-up no this alone does not keep me matte but combined with a good powder (my current favourite is this Ben Nye number - review link) I truly can't fault. What gives this spray the edge over a typical primer is that unlike a gel/cream formula it doesn't overload the skin with silicone's or feel at all heavy but truthfully it doesn't blur pores in any shape or form. If that is your aim I'm afraid you will have to combine this mist with a silicone based products such as Benefit Porefessional but on the plus side it does keep the skin lightly hydrated all day long and does reduce redness too! I have also noticed that since switching to this over a typical primer that any blemishes do disappear rather quickly and I rather enjoy the fact that it can be used at any point to refresh my complexion.
Basically it is time to down those little jars of primer and switch to this almost do it all spray.

Primers often make my foundation look like they're sitting on top of my face. Yes, it keeps my makeup from sliding off, but foundation just doesn't meld with my skin when i prime my face. The idea of a spray may just be what i need!
ReplyDeleteOoh I like the sound of this - no primer I've ever used has made a huge difference to the longevity of my makeup so I'll definitely be giving this a go x

that looks really good
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really interesting! I'm really intrigued with the idea of applying B6 topically - I always knew it was good for skin issues, but have only really heard of supplementing on it/ increasing uptake from certain foods. I'm always looking for different ways to solve the shiny face problem - will have to look into this one! :)
