Pixi Eye Glow Cube

With my summer holiday firmly on my mind - I may have already packed and composed many a list of what I'm buying when I hit Sephora...sad I know but none the less I like to be organised. Speaking of being organised when I go away on holiday I like to keep my make-up bag fairly light as we all know I will be coming back with new goodies. If you like to travel light you may want to invest in the Pixi Eye Glow Cube.

First of all I do want to state that I adore the pretty pistachio green that Pixi use to package their products, it allows them to stand out from the normal sea of matte black packaging and in my mind ties in wonderfully with the Pixi name. However I do have to be truthful and say that I'm not overly enthused by the Pixi Eye Glow Cube casing - the top part which protects the eyeshadows is completely sturdy but the bottom drawer that contains two eye bases was initially stiff to open but after a few uses it has became slack.

The Pixi Eye Glow Cube is a brilliant eye kit - I will be honest in stating that I initially deemed the two large powder pans to be cheek products when in fact they are powder eye bases. Truthfully I have no idea what a powder eye base is and recommend doing what I do and using the pink shade as a blush and the lighter one as a highlight, also by doing so you free up more room in your make-up bag! While we are on the topic of the large powder pans I can vouch that they are wonderfully pigmented and feel like velvet on the skin be it the eyes or cheeks.

Obviously the focus of this palette is the eyes and the Pixi Eye Glow Cube doesn't half spoil you with choice in terms of colour options, all in you get 16 small cubes of various neutral toned eyeshadows. Actually to deem this palette a neutral palette is a little unfair as as well as great line up of everyday wearable shades the Pixi Eye Glow Cube also supplies the odd pop of colour in a few deep jewel tones. Much like the larger eye bases the Pixi eyeshadow formula is faultless - soft with very little product fall out, easy to blend and exceptionally pigmented. The only niggle I can find is that all 16 pans are of a shimmer/metallic formula so if you are a fan of matte shades this may not be for you.

For £18 I think the Pixi Eye Glow Cube is brilliant both in terms of quality and colour choice and can happily see myself taking it to the states with me.

Random Fact - A Pixi has been dubbed to be a fairy-like or elfin creature, especially one that is mischievous; a playful sprite.
