Each birthday I always receive a goodie bag stuffed to the brim with little odds and ends and in my bag this year was a chubby lip crayon - MUA Power Pout to give it the proper title. Truthfully I have avoided MUA lately due to all the Twitter drama but credit where credit is due the new MUA Power Pout are not to be missed.
As you can see like most lip crayons the MUA Power Pout version is of course chubby in style and to my eye very familiar in style - Google Revlon's Just Bitten version and you have two almost identical packaging styles. The MUA Power Pout's feature a twist up mechanism at the base of the product so you never need to sharpen or waste any of the product housed inside. For £3 I think the packaging is pretty much faultless.
At the moment there is six shades available within the MUA Power Pout range and I have Rendezvous which is of course the staple nude. If you like your nudes to be warm and slightly pink in tone then Rendezvous is for you. To my eye MUA Power Pout in Rendezvous is a pink tinged nude that leans slightly orange but is flattering when worn. Now seems like a good time to mention that the formula does have a slightly minty taste that feels a little tingly when initially applied.
All the reviews I have read on the MUA Power Pout seem to compare them to the Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stains and other than the packaging element which is almost identical I have to disagree.
To me the MUA Power Pout are more akin with the Clinique Chubby Sticks Intense - a firm but well pigmented lip product that offers great colour pay off with a high sheen opaque finish.
Essentially it is more of a lipstick than a lip tint as far as MUA Power Pout's are concerned and I'm not really sure why they are being marketed as tints as the coverage is so much better.
What I won't disagree with is the balm element, the MUA Power Pouts glide on to the lips and instantly deliver a dose of hydration which keeps the lips moisturised throughout the course of wear. However with a highly hydrating formula comes shortened wear with each application only fairing around the hour mark but all things considered: formula, colour, hydration and price they are a wonderful little buy and something I would look into again.

ReplyDeleteThis colour is beautiful and you definitely cannot go wrong with buying anything for £3. I haven't tried any MUA products yet, but as I am going shopping tomorrow I will HAVE to purchase something from the line. (Considering loads of people have blog posted about some of the products).

I've given up on MUA lately too. I really liked their products but they spammed their Facebook page as if it were Twitter and the way they handled their makeup artist leaving was extremely childish and left a bad taste in my mouth. So I've 'unliked' their FB page and won't be purchasing anymore, too many other options out there to have to deal with rubbish like this from a makeup brand!
ReplyDeleteThese are so pigmented I love these! Can't wait to get back to the UK and buy some of these!
