So I have finished my trial of the 3 step skin care routine by Clinique
and thought now is the time to post my results, initially I stated I would post after three months
had past but I have now completed the facial wash and the moisturiser twice over
and don't plan on re-purchasing so it was now or never!
Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild - Dry/Combination Skin (Step 1)
I do really like this facial wash and found it gentle enough to use both morning and night.
I never experienced any drying out of the skin nor tightness,
I found it to remove my make-up (eye make-up aside) with ease.
I finished my sample - full size bottle and have re-bought once and again finished said bottles
and over the course of nearly three months never experienced any problems what so ever.
Why am I not repurchasing at the moment?
I have been bowled over by Bioderma Micellaire Solution and enjoy being able to use one
product to remove every element of make-up and the includes waterproof mascara
but as far as gentle facial washes go I do rate this quite highly!
Clinique Clarifying Lotion - Dry/Combination Skin (Step 2)
Like most I found this too harsh on my skin,
it left my face raw and red after a few uses so I never really made much of a dent in this bottle
and needless to say have not repurchased.
I know from previous posts that this works wonderfully for some and not so much with the rest.
I fall into the later category, though it has been mentioned that there is a gentler alcohol free version
that may be less harsh but having not tested it I can't comment.
This is the one product I do really rate and wouldn't not repurchase
or be tempted to try again but that is just my personal opinion.
Clinique Dramatically different Moisturising Lotion - Dry/Dry Combination Skin (Step 3)
For me this is the stand out product and one I will continue to repurchase as it is a great moisturiser.
It is light and non-greasy hydrates the skin all the while being gentle
but is effective enough to use as a night cream if you should wish to do so.
The sample I was sent did not suit my skin type so I purchased the gel version which is for oily skin.
If you have oily skin you will know how difficult it is to find a moisturiser that delivers light
hydration that does not overwhelm the skin making a bad situation worse!
Well Clinique Dramatically different Moisturising Gel is great as it does give light moisture,
feels light on the skin and does not clog or make the skin oilier than it already is.
Out of the three products this is the one I rate the highest and do highly recommend.
So I bet you are wondering if my skin improved while using this three step programme?
Well yes and no, for a short while when using step 2 my skin took a turn for the worse
and was quite sore and angry looking but that passed as soon as I discontinued using the Clarifying Lotion.
I don't really feel the Liquid Soap affected my skin one way or the other which is pretty good
as my skin can be irritated quite easily so to not react reinforces how gentle it is.
The one product that I would say improved my skin was the moisturising gel
as it seemed to calm done the oil production on the t-zone of my skin,
resulting in less shine and blemishes!
Have you tried the Clinique 3 Step Skin Care routine?
Did it work for you?
You can purchase all the products mentioned in this post via Clinique - link
Post contains some PR samples but I did also buy replacements of said products
as this feature was reviewed over a pro-longed period of time.
I used to be a big fan. Pretty much used their 3 step plan for 3/4 years and I'm still a big fan of the facial soap (I use it in the shower every day) as it makes me feel squeaky clean but since finding Liz Earle I'll never go back to Clinique. Too harsh on my sensitive skin.
ReplyDeleteThe soap is great :) I quite like Liz Earle too especially the mild moisturiser but right now I am obsessed with Bioderma haha
DeleteI agreed with everything you said about the moisturizer - I'm looking forward to finishing what I have now to buy it! I also like the toner though but the majority seem to agree with you! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you agree :) have you tried their moisture surge gel it is also amazing and so light :) ah yes the first time I posted about it man the response was insane haha!
DeleteI hate the clarifying lotion its just too harsh x
ReplyDeleteI agree it wasn't for me either x
DeleteI really like this trio, I use mostly the tonique and I love it! thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it works well for you :)
DeleteI've tried the Anti-blemish face wash and I think it was the number 2 clarifying lotion (might be 3). Hated the face wash, LOVED the lotion! It made my skin glow :)

I'm thinking of trying the anti-blemish range as I think it would be better suited to my spotty skin haha :) thanks for the feedback :) x
DeleteThanks for the review, I recently got a trial of it but still havn't tried it out yet as I'm using some other stuff still! My skins pretty sensitive too, Clinique seems to irritate quite a lot of peoples skin despite the fact that they claim to be good for it!

Great post! I love the gel lotion as well! I use it every morning under my foundation. I also couldn't use the clarifying lotion because it completely dried my skin out & left it dull & flaky. I think it's all the alcohol in it!

I am trying it at the moment... the soap leaves my skin quite dry but as for the clarifying lotion I am very sparse with using it. Havent tried the moisturiser as a day cream yet but it feels lovely and refreshing using it after the clarifying lotion xx
ReplyDeleteI've tried this out and I really didn't like it, it brought my skin out in rashes and made it look worse!

Hmm like yourself, I thought the Clarify lotion way too harsh on my skin. I do use step 1 and 3 thought and love there facial soap mild, I've been using it since I was 15 and it never has let me down. Great review by the way!
ReplyDeleteOk I have also a love/hate relationship with this product. The fisrt tima I've try the lotion clarifiannt I feel like this was burning my face.I've rince the product and came back two weeks later to my sephora, one of the lady explai to me that you only have to put two dros of the product on a coton pad and realy gently apply this on your skin. And then apply the dramatiacal lotion.
ReplyDeleteIt look worst at first , but it get better if you are constant.
Good luck and you should give an other try to this product .

What does a dramatically different moisturizing lotion do to your skin? Is it a kind of lotion that will make your skin look rosy and smooth?

After going through a plastic surgery in New York it's always advisable to be careful with the products you'll be using after. Using the wrong type of product can cause skin allergies.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the moisturizer is applicable for any skin types. We just went to north phoenix medical clinic and they warned me about the cosmetic products that I'll be using. They said that it should contain SPF cause it'll burn my skin tissue.
