This is my first foray into BB Cream's, the reason I have let the trend float on by
is due to the fact that the majority of BB Creams's provide little more coverage than
a bog standard tinted moisturiser and I prefer a higher coverage from my base.
Anyway I have been taking much better care of my skin and don't really require much coverage
so I thought now would be the time to dip a toe (eww) into the BB Cream pond!
L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream is designed to recreate the texture and glow of perfect nude skin,
it is aimed to be feather light on the skin and has smart pigmentation capsules that correct tone,
cover imperfections and refines the skin texture.
It also promises 24hour hydration with an SPF 12.
My first thoughts once I got over the fact that the BB Cream was chalk white with purple pearls
is that it is rather runny and loose in texture, it is however scent free and does feel lightweight.
The L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream has two shade selections - light and medium
I went for the latter thinking it would be the best option but it is a little too light
and grey in tone so not really a flattering shade at all.
I really feel for deeper skin tones as it seems the high street brands don't want to offer a deep version,
which is disappointing not to mention a little discriminative!
On the face it does live up to the hydration aspect but I did not find it to last the promised 24hours
as after around 8 hours in my skin felt a little tight and uncomfortable.
The coverage is non-existent, it is not even on par with a decent tinted moisturiser.
To be able to wear this as a base you would already need photo perfect skin
with not as much as a tiny flaw and how many can say they have that?
My plan was to use this for weekends away or on holiday so I could let my skin breathe
but sadly this BB Cream is not the one for me.
All this being said I am not off put by the BB Cream craze and will test a few more in
the hopes of finding a great one that allows me to banish heavy foundations for a day or two each week.
Do you use BB Creams? If so what one?
L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream costs £9.99 and is available from selected stockists.
I wanted to try this, but I feel a bit put off. thanks for the advise :) try garniers, I feel it fives a relativly good coverage :)x
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation :) I will give it a go :)
DeleteI've tried the Estee Lauder and Garnier ones, I preferred the Estee Lauder. I don't like the fact that they only seem to cater for light to medium skin tones either, maybe it's because they are an Asian thing and a lot of Asian products are aimed at whitening the skin? Still not cool though!! x
ReplyDeleteYes you are right I think the asian ones do whiten the skin :) but in the UK/US
DeleteI can't really see that having much of a demand do you?
I might try the EL one thanks for the tip :)
I use the Garnier one every day and I love it! I prefer just a light coverage though! :)
ReplyDeleteAh great I may pick that up thanks :)
DeleteI use the no7 one and swear by it! Best one i've tried :) xx
ReplyDeleteOhh I saw that today I will go back and have a swatch
DeleteThis is not like the BB cream I used at all! I used a few korean brand BB cream, and they are like tinted moisturiser, but with better coverage. I really liked it, I think this Loreal one is an odd one.
ReplyDeleteA few have said that to me, can you recommend any korean ones to try?
DeleteHey I love Perfect Cover from Missha, I've used few Koreans bb cream so far and this one was the best of all! ;)
DeleteI use the garnier one everyday in light BUT i don't wear foundation everyday, only on nights out and special occasions as i have sensitive skin. I really like it though and find it gives better coverage than my No.7 tinted moisturiser!

Ah I see :) i'm very much a full coverage gal haha :)
Deletemy mum has been using this and loves it, but she isn't a massive make up wearer so that might be why. I think it makes her skin tone look a lot more even but natural. x
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad it works for her :)
DeleteThanks for the review. I'm glad I didn't buy this one if the coverage is not existent. I need to cover my imperfections lol I use Garnier or Missha B bb creams sometimes. Garnier is ok, but the coverage isn't the best either. Missha B has great coverage, but the shade is much cooler than my skin tone, though when I apply it lightly it looks alright.

haha thats what I need too haha!
DeleteAh do the missha ones come in a medium tone?
Sometimes lightish shades can make me look ill :(
I think Missha comes in a few shades, google it. I've got 2 shades, 21 and 23. Shade 21 is perfect for me at the moment and I saved shade 23 when I'm tanned, it's definitely more olive toned than 21))
DeleteI use the garnier one and quite like it - doesnt give massive coverage but on days where you really dont want to put on some foundation I think its great x I also got a little tester of the new estee lauder one which arrived today so going to test it out tomorrow xx
ReplyDeletethats what I wanted this to do :) so I think i'll pick up the garnier one :)
Deleteyes please let me know how you get on :)
I tried this one in store, but being quite pale even the light color was orange on my skin tone!

ah that sucks a few people have said that though :(
DeleteHow unusual....Asian BB creams usually have SUPER HEAVY coverage. I've never seen a white one before!
ReplyDeleteI think I need an asian one asap!
DeleteA super light layer of Skin79 atm! I don't think I can be converted to western BBs
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you from what I have heard they are worlds apart|!
DeleteAww no this looks terrible. I've only tried the 17 BB Cream which is quite good and you can get quite good coverage too!

I have a BB cream phase at the moment. I am using 2 Korean and 1 western one. The korean ones I use is Missha M Perfect Cover and Skinfood Black Tea, they are good. The western on I have is No7, I think it is a good one, you can either have light/medium and then according to your skin type (dry, oily, etc.)
ReplyDeleteI have the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB cream in medium, it's a shade darker than my skin, however the light colour would've made me look like a ghost!I did a post of it on my blog. I find it really does even out my blemishes, however I do tend to still pop a foundation over the top. Really interested in trying other BB creams.

Ive been a loyal user of the Etude House BB cream and Garnier under eye BB roll on.I think that they cater a couple of light shades cause a good BB cream blends well and disappears tougher with the blemishes after a few moments of blending with warm hands :) Asian ones are said to be whitening maybe because the sun here is too much for the skin to handle. A good BB cream also feels very light even with a great coverage of imperfections :)
ReplyDeleteTypo tougher -> together :)
ReplyDeleteWow, this seems to look totally useless LOL?
ReplyDeleteI agree. The bb creams seem to me to be just a normal tinted moisturizer nothing else.
ReplyDeleteI was looking forward to trying this and when I spotted the testers in Boots last weekend I was happy. I started rubbing it in and was pleased at how light it was as I have pale skin. Then after a few more rubs it turned soooo much darker! Far too dark for me and that was the "light" option xx
ReplyDeleteHey I would recommend trying Missha BB Cream which is one of the famous korean bb creams. The texture is buildable for a full coverage.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit late to this thread, but I was looking for some info on the L'Oreal BB cream and there you were. I have the No7 BB cream which has primer in it so it keeps your skin matt, if that's a concern. It was given to me and while it's a nice enough product, I honestly can't say I would buy it once it runs out. I much prefer a good tinted moisturizer with a decent SPF in it.
ReplyDeleteI know BB creams have been a staple in the Asian market for a long time, but I think it won't be more than a flavour of the month product here. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Well girls, BB creams have whitening effect, and they all do it, the Korean ones whiten the skin a lot, I have used the Garnier one for 3 months and it whitened my skin a lot, i asked my cosmetics consultant and she told me that the Vitamin C ingredient is used to whiten the skin and it is healthy to use it once a year not more that 3 months...
