Vera Wang Princess Eau de Toilette Review

Is there a bigger 2000's throwback fragrance for all my fellow 90's kids than Vera Wang Princess Eau de Toilette? If you didn't in the very least pine over a bottle of this at some point in the early 2000's, I'd be very shocked, it really was the scent of said decade for anyone under 20 back in the day. Has it dated as well as you'd imagine? Yes and no. If you enjoy the warm and cosy feeling of nostalgia then ultimately, yes you are going to want to revisit this. However if you prefer more full bodied fragrances, with a higher level of sophistication, then maybe get your throwback kicks via a quick spritz of a tester or two in your local Boots store.

Any fan of Vera Wang Princess Eau de Toilette - new or revisiting - will agree that the bottle design is a huge selling point, it beautifully taps into the childhood fantasy of mystical worlds, fairy-tales and all things whimsical. The purple heart shape bottle and delicate removable crown lid (which can be worn as a ring) is not only very much of the essence of the early 2000's (think Juicy Couture and Paris Hilton) but is now synonymous with the brand. Ask anyone in their late 20's, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you utter the words Vera Wang, and I'd be shocked if the answer is not this now iconic perfume bottle.

As for Vera Wang Princess Eau de Toilette as a fragrance? It is probably exactly how you'd imagine: flirty, youthful and fruity. It is soft yet very vibrant with several punchy, citrus notes - one quick sniff and I am whisked back to high school, day dreaming of what footballer I'd be marrying and how I'd be spending his millions (if any Celtic player is reading, feel free to hit up my DM's, I'm still capable of helping you spend that money). Now that I am a little older, I am afraid somewhere along the line, I have outgrown Vera Wang Princess; it no longer feels like "my scent" but rather a borrowed spritz of a friends fragrance to scent an impromptu night on the tiles....oh to be 19 again.

And weirdly that is a reassuring thought.

Sure, I'm glad I am not the same person anymore but more so, I'm impressed that this scent still has the capacity to not only stick around for over 10 years but to captivate new audiences too. That is true testament to any fragrance, let alone one geared towards the admittedly fickle, teen market. If you do have a loved one that fits into such audience, this is a wonderful scent to gift them and won't leave you gasping for air should they all but bathe in the stuff - not to mention it is well priced at just over £20 for a huge 100ml bottle. The gentle notes of waterlily, apple, mandarin meringue, and golden apricot, offer a refreshing everyday scent and combined with dark chocolate, amber, musk, and vanilla, it ensures that it wears for several hours per application.
