Not so long ago, I had an epiphany-like moment, in which I realised that a lot like traditional shampoos, the reason one person's "holy grail" dry shampoo doesn't work for everyone is because frankly one-size does not fit, nor suit all. The sooner you realise this, the easier your life becomes - deep I know.
My first ever dabble with dry shampoo harks all the way back to my first boyfriend and a lot like said romance, my affair with Batiste Blush Dry Shampoo was very much short lived. Over the years, I have re-visited Batiste with varying degrees of success (it tends to work best for me when my hair is not colour processed and in dire need of a good wash) but never really found my fit within their ever expanding range of products, until I tried Batiste Instant Hair Refresh Dry Shampoo & Hydrate.
Circling back to my initial point, most dry shampoo's cater best to certain hair types (even if the label suggests otherwise), with a lot trail, error and patience required; in the instance of Batiste Instant Hair Refresh Dry Shampoo & Hydrate, it is a great choice for anyone with fine to normal textured hair, that requires a little volume all the while disguising greasy roots. It is weightless, with next to no residue and so far removed from the traditional, heavier and dare I say powdery texture of other Batiste Dry Shampoo's. The scent is also not what I expected: shower fresh, very delicate and wonderfully unisex too.
Batiste Instant Hair Refresh Dry Shampoo & Hydrate has been formulated for normal to dry hair and contains "moisturising avocado", yet it isn't overly nourishing. I was a tad worried that the conditioning agent would weight down my fine hair and perhaps overload it with moisture, rather than refreshing my roots. On the contrary, the hydrating quality actually helps to seal the hair, creating a more polished and refined finish, eliminating any frizz along the way, with a soft and clean feel. Gone is the heavy, powdery residue that I associate with Batiste and in its place is a micro-fine spray, that creates a natural finish to the hair, with a product-less feel - let's just say your hands won't be covered in a film after application, nor throughout the day.
Despite it's fairly low price tag (£3.99 for a huge 200ml can), this does feel, smell and behave like a far more luxurious and perhaps even professional standard product. I can't rate it highly enough.
