Maison Margiela Mutiny Eau de Parfum

A new month and a new fragrance, which seems to be pretty much the only habit I have truly managed to form and upkeep this year, and that in itself says just how trying 2018 has been as a year. With just 8 weeks left of 2018, I am determined to make the most of the remaining days and as bizarre as it sounds the new Maison Margiela Mutiny Eau de Parfum has sparked a little fire in my belly - isn't it funny just how deeply fragrance can impact your mood?

As a huge lover and collector of the Maison Margiela Replica fragrances (Beach Walk and Lipstick On I'm coming for you next) I simply had to try Maison Margiela Mutiny Eau de Parfum without as much as sniffing it out at my local counter - I guess when you know, you just know?

This may be an odd statement to make and maybe I am showing my privileged as a beauty writer inundated with samples, but I do find that the design of a bottle all but makes or breaks a scent - that and I often find in my minds eye, it helps paint a picture of what it may smell like. Rather bizarrely I somehow linked Maison Margiela Mutiny to Thierry Mugler's Womanity fragrance - odd as it has long been discontinued and one I never actually wore myself. Maybe it is the simple yet elegant design, maybe it is the splashes of opulence, or maybe (and most likely) I have an overactive imagination. Although not at all similar, if you were in the market for a scent to fill the void that Thierry Mugler's Womanity has left, you could do a lot worse than Maison Margiela Mutiny Eau de Parfum.

So how would I personally describe Maison Margiela Mutiny Eau de Parfum? Warm, bold, unusual yet oddly familiar, leather-tinged and powerfully floral at the same time. Mutiny does have the capacity to be unisex (then again doesn't every fragrance?) but I do fear the central Tuberose note may be a tad too strong for some?

In my mind, Mutiny is very much a Autumn/Winter fragrance choice as it does veer on the bolder and stronger side, it is one of those fragrances that you can imagine pairs (and wears) very well with a thick winter coat. Once the colder weather truly sets in, I find personal fragrance adds a certain level of comfort to Winter layers, the almost child-like security of being snuggled up with a familiar scent nestling against your skin? Well for me Maison Margiela's Mutiny Eau de Parfum does just that but makes a bold statement at the same time, it screams I know what I am doing and where I am headed in life - even if that is only a half truth and all you have really planned out is what is for dinner later that night.

For everyone looking for a new signature scent or something warmer to beat the Winter chill, I can not recommend trying Maison Margiela Mutiny Eau de Parfum enough, it truly is beautiful and worth the investment.
