bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blushes

I am a blush girl, such a blush gal, that aside from mascara (I have naturally blonde eyelashes and look like a naked mole rat without it) it is the one beauty product I can not be without. So you can imagine my utter glee when I found out one of my favourite beauty brands of all time, have just launched one of the most wonderfully diverse blush collections of the last few months. If your make-up bag is crying out for a new cheek colour or two, you might want to try on the bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blushes out for size.

As much as I count myself as a bareminerals super-fan, I do have to be critical of every product that lands into my hand for the sake of utter transparency. In the case of the bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blushes my criticism lies within the packaging; it's a tad flimsy, bulky and not as sturdy as I'd like (I'm clumsy and drop everything). On the plus side, it does look great and the large size means you can use each shade with ease, even if you chose to reach for the biggest blush brush within your arsenal.

With 10 shades to chose from, all in various neutral shades which include numerous tones of pinks, browns and peaches that range in depth and undertones. Blush should and can be enjoyed by all but I have found in the past that a lot of collections of this type cater to light and medium complexions, with deeper skin tones being an afterthought. Well not this time around, the bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blushes have several deeper toned shades specifically formulated for those with a darker skin tone - just as it should be!

Swatches correspond with shade description order below and run left to right: Bellini Brunch, But First Coffee, Let's Go Nude, On the Mauve, Peachy Keen, Pink Me Up, Pretty in Pink, That Peach Though, Strike a Rose and You Had Me at Merlot.

bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in Bellini Brunch (matte)- a warm, yellow based peach with a slight brown undertone. A great shade for both warming and sculpting the skin.

bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in But First Coffee (satin) - a deep, red based brown with a shot of microscopic silver glitter particles. Once on the skin, the glitter isn't overly obvious and gives depth to the shade, rather than being overly shimmer based.

bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in Let's Go Nude (matte) - a mid-toned, warm tan shade that can double up as a bronzer and/or contour product dependant on your skin tone. On very light complexions this can lean a smidgen orange.

bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in On the Mauve (satin) - a deep, almost berry toned dusty pink that again has been created with deeper complexions in mind; although with a light hand most could use this shade. Again this contains small flecks of glitter to help create the effect of luminosity.

bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in Peachy Keen (satin) - a deeper variation of a pinky-peach tone with plenty of shimmer particles. Think of this as a more intense (and universally flattering) alternate to NARS Orgasm. This has the most obvious shot of glitter running throughout when applied to the skin so you may want to avoid if you have open pores.

bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in Pink Me Up (satin) - a bright, neutral but mid-toned, yellow based pink. Oddly although this contains the same glitter particles as the other satin blushes within this range, this is the one shade that it does not translate onto the skin and is more akin with a matte as such.
bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in Pretty in Pink (matte) - a light, bright, yellow toned, peachy-pink. This shade is better suited to lighter complexions as it can translate a little ashen on deeper skintones.

bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in That Peach Though (matte) - a true but muted peach, this has a slightly brown undertone and would be my fail safe option for all complexions. Much like the other bronze based blushes within this line up, this can also be used as a bronzer and/or contour option.

bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in Strike a Rose (satin)- a deeper, dusty rose that is neutral but does lean a little towards the bronze spectrum. This is another shade within the 10 strong collective that I would imagine suits just about everyone.

bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in You Had Me at Merlot (matte) - a deep, red based, brown that has a slightly warm undertone. This will be too deep to use in the traditional sense on light complexions.

Despite an array of shades and finishes the bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush range all have one thing in common and that is a near perfect formulation; beautifully pigmented and bold in colour saturation (nothing to fear if you have a fluffy blush brush), soft enough that each shade blends with such ease and yet not so soft that they produce endless trails of product fall out. It seems that the texture of the bareminerals Gen Nude Powder Blush have been catered to all skin types as they are powerful enough to withstand oily skin and yet ever so slightly hydrating so that they are forgiving on dry and/or textured areas of the face.

This is how all blush ranges should be - accommodating to all, accessible and with a formulation that will keep you hooked. You can shop all ten shades via Look Fantastic (£22 each) - link.
