#pixipretties Pixi Dulce Candy Palettes Review

I'm not sure where or when the term "influencer" properly came into play but what I do know is as much as I hate the four syllable word, I'm willing to let it go if it means wonderful launches such as the Pixi + Dulce Candy collection - or collectively the #pixipretties.

In case you missed the initial launch of the #pixipretties collection, let me quickly fill you in: Pixi have teamed up with three "influencers" - YouTuber's to you and I - to curate, well thought out and utterly practical beauty products. As great as all three product drops are, in my opinion the two Pixi + Dulce Candy palettes are the stand out items - so much so, that I'm passing up on the rest of line.

I won't pretend to know much about Dulce Candy (because spoiler I don't but I have recently subscribed and she seems like a total sweetheart) but as she initially began her online career as a beauty guru, it is safe to say she knows her way around a great palette or two - and that is exactly what she has delivered. Yes not one but two wonderfully adaptable palettes, each of which have a different medium and colour selection. The long story short is yes you do need both kits in your life and bathroom...or y'know wherever you happen to store your make-up.

Typically I don't get excited about lip palettes as they are rarely a standalone product or very limited in shade range that they simply are inconvenient. Well the Pixi Dulce's Lip Candy Palette shatters such preconception, not only does it contain a broad range of neutrals, with a few bold splashes too (9 shades in total), each of which can also be used on the cheeks too.

Each of the shades within the Pixi Dulce's Lip Candy Palette (£28) have a firm texture with a slight, silicone based slip which makes creates an optically blurring, matte, full pigmented stain - a formula that translates and works well on both very different skin surfaces. On the lips, the silicone base helps to create a soft, plump yet matte finish that is comfortable and long wearing; on the cheeks, the cream texture glides onto the skin, blending with ease, skimming over open pores and is pretty resistant to excess oil as the day marches on - truly I have no complaints.

One of the first things I noticed about this lip palette is the size of the product wells, the are huge so that regardless of the size of brush you use, or if you prefer using your fingertips, there is more than enough space to accommodate your needs. As the palette is plastic, you can also use the lid to mix and custom blend the creams should you wish.

The other product within Dulce Candy launch is the spectacular - Cafe con Dulce palette (£28), which happens to be powder based so there truly is something for everyone. Recently I have found myself inwardly asking, before I buy any new make-up product can it serve me in more way than one? Time, space and money is precious so why plump for something that doesn't truly serve you? If convertible beauty is what you crave, they don't come much more useful than this.

Again, there are 9 huge pans of colour (almost as large as a standalone NARS blush in size) that can be used in a multitude of ways depending on the shade and of course your personal preference. From eyeshadows, blushes, highlighters and even blushes, this kit has it all and although some may deem the overall colour choice to be a little safe, there is no denying that each shade can be enjoyed by all. If I was to offer up a tiny piece of criticism it would be that it would've been nice to see a variety of finishes within the palette rather than 9 shimmer based powders. However as each of the powders are intensely pigmented (incredibly so, I was blown away the first time I dipped into this palette), easy to apply and long-wearing I'm sure this is something we can all easily overlook.

If all influencer collections are of this quality going forth, I may just get on board with the term...maybe.
