Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow Palette Review Swatch Swatches

Beauty trends come and go; as much as I enjoy the glittering facade of a highlighter, I am a blush gal, through and through. I simply can not recall the last time in which I wore make-up, that did not include a quick a quick swirl of peachy blush to complete my look. Blush does what highlighter can not: it brightens the entire face and regardless of the occasion, complexion or skin type it always looks fresh and flattering. As much as it pains me to admit it but a lot like the trend of marble everything, I do think intense highlighting is nearing the end of its course of dominance and in the coming months we will see a more subtle approach to skin illumination. Perhaps the best tell of such trend approaching its expiry date, is the sudden influx of blush palettes: some with bronzers, some without, but all noticeabley skipping out on highlighting products completely. Paving the way with one of the most beautiful but utterly practical blush kits of this kind is Charlotte Tilbury with the new Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow Palette.

Let's get straight down to business, the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow Palette is not cheap at £60 - it is a luxury self-investment and one, admittedly I would initially hesitate to purchase had I not already been such a huge fan - and constant wearer - of the original Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar and Glow Palette. If like myself you do wear blush and bronzer pretty much on a daily basis and don't typically reach for a highlighting product unless it is a special occasion, this is the kit for you. At your fingertips you have two large, fairly universally toned face powders (I'd skip this duo if you have a deep skintone - I'm hopeful that other variations of this palette will launch sooner than later) at your disposal but also a compact brush perfectly suited to the application of either shade.

I imagine that the inclusion of the brush is the reason this particular colourway is more expensive than the original Filmstar palettes? As admittedly well made and proportioned as the Charlotte Tilbury Mini Artistry Blush Brush may be, I'd have happily skipped it for a reduced palette price point and utilised one of my own brushes - which I undoubtedly will anyway as I prefer larger blush brushes for a more diffused look. I can't however fault that Charlotte Tilbury, by adding the brush to kit have essentially constructed a complete, on-the-go, travel friendly cheek kit: a blush, a bronzer, a huge mirror and of course the pocket-sized brush.

The concept behind of the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow Palette is to add delicate flashes of dimension to the face via the glowing, flush of blush and soft contouring abilities of the bronzer. The idea is that both products add subtle flashes of light to the skin, so that there is no need for a separate highlighting product - pretty clever wouldn't you agree? As such neither the bronzer nor blush within the kit are flat, matte formulations, rather they have been infused with finely crushed pearls for an ethereal like glow. It's not often - if ever - that I would recommend a non-matte bronzer for contouring the face, and yet there is something so special about both the shade and finish of the Charlotte Tilbury Bronzer within this duo. The soft focus, glowing bronzing powder does not translate to a glittery finish on the skin, rather it injects just the right amount of glow, warmth and pigment so it is perfectly suited to all uses. It blends like a dream, wears wonderfully (even on the oiliest of skin types) and paired with the beautiful, rosy toned, blush in this duo, it creates the most wonderful naturally flushed yet sculpted look with a smattering of radiance.

I often say that with Charlotte Tilbury products you not only pay for the innovation but also the guidance of a world renowned make-up artist. As such a lot of the mystery and confusion of beauty products is eradicated from her line. For instance, the colour pairings of the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow Palette; if ever you have teamed the wrong bronzer with your favourite blush and despaired at the muddy mess you have created, you will welcome the addition of a perfectly paired, ready-made duo of cheek products. The warm, coral pink that has a slight golden reflex blush, is only heightened and complimented by the sandy, slightly sheer but olive-hued bronzer. Each product understands its place and purpose, there is no guesswork, nor do you need to tactfully approach either powder, simply apply, blend and go - and for that I will (and do) happily pay top dollar.

If any product can pry highlighter out of our perfectly manicured hands it is Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow Palette - my collection of radiance boosting powders, liquids and creams are quaking at the mere mention of this blush kit.
