I'm not a huge fan of festive beauty ranges, more often than not they feel rushed and are not coherently constructed - that and I really don't care for glitter, so despite being one of my favourite times of the year, I don't actually purchase all that much make-up. Shocking I know. One brand that does deliver, time and time again - especially in terms of great value sets that you will actually want and more importantly use - is Tarte Cosmetics. If beautiful brushes, well thought out palettes and endless choices of lip colours is what you heart desires this chilly November, then prepare to dust off your debit card...or at least write a kind line or two in the direction of Father Christmas.
Tarte 5 Piece Limited Edition Brush Collection £36.99
I've said it for years but Tarte Cosmetics brushes are the unsung hero of the brand - soft, wonderfully made, and truly a staple of my make-up bag since the day I first stepped foot in Sephora. Individually Tarte brushes can be pricey, so I do tend to take advantage of the gift sets. For 2017 there is a delicately decorated, five-piece brush set, that contains all you need and more for both your face and eye needs, along with an intricately patterned brush holder too. The Tarte 5 Piece Limited Edition Brush Collection features: three face brushes and two eye brushes, all of which are weighted for ease of use, beyond soft and luxurious in feel, and not prone to neither staining nor splaying of the brushes. If you have yet to discover Tarte brushes or are looking to pad out your collection, this set is a must-have.
Left to right: Genuine (pinky apricot), Breathtaking (soft rose pink), Graceful (shimmering pink coral), Loveable (pink melon).
My biggest beauty weakness is blush, namely Tarte blushes - at this point I have lost count to just how many I own. As an oily skinned gal, there's not much that can compare to the long-wearing formulation of Tarte's Amazonian Clay Blushes; as an added bonus, I do find that as they contain clay, they somewhat help keep my skin matte too, this is of course along with blending seamlessly onto the skin and being beyond pigmented.
What's better than one Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush? Four brand new shades in easily one of the most, visually stunning compacts in a long time, that's what. The newly launched Tarte Blush Bliss Palette contains four exclusive shades, all of which are universally flattering: Genuine (pinky apricot), Breathtaking (soft rose pink), Graceful (shimmering pink coral), Loveable (pink melon). This palm-sized palette, packs a punch both in pigment and value stakes - think of it as the perfect travel companion, even if all foreseeable trips are just the morning commute to work.
For those that can never quite decide what is better: lipstick or gloss, red or nude, the
Tarte 5 Piece Lip Luxuries Lip Sculptor Collection is the answer to all your dilemmas. Not only do you gain five, creamy and easy to wear lipsticks but also coordinating high sheen glosses too - the best of both worlds. If that is not enough the melt-on-the-lips texture of the Tarte Lipsticks are long-wearing and the glosses aren't as sticky as what we've come to expect. The beauty of this kit is that along with value, it offers choice in finish and shade, the truly tricky part is settling on what shade to try first. My personal favourite has to be Trinket (rosy-mauve) but each shade is not without its charm:Bangle - deep cherry, Gem - rosy peach, Pride - poppy red and Quest - pink apricot.
The Tarte Holiday collection also contains a stand-alone, suit all highlighting powder and a beautiful and large face palette that contains face powders and eyeshadows galore, amongst other things. If you have yet to check the range out for yourself, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at just how varied and well presented the collection is.
