We are all grown up's here, a (hopefully) warm summer means you will want more from your anti-perspirant because - well without stating the obvious - raised temperatures mean a higher risk of sweating and of course body odour - nobody wants to stink, there I said it. Weirdly, a good, long-lasting blush - I know most will skip blush once the sun comes out in favour of bronzer but I think a pretty pink or coral blush can beautifully compliment sun-kissed skin and it looks far more natural on the apples of the cheeks, not to mention it injects a little pop of colour onto the face. It most likely goes without saying that a long-lasting waterproof mascara is an absolute must for any bout of warm weather, a waterproof formula will not smudge or smear and will outlast any activity you have planned - even if that is a dip in the pool or surviving a humid tube journey to work. At the moment, I have been favouring tinted lip balms over a typical lipstick; I find them to be a little more comfortable to wear but also that they provide a prolonged wear time as they fade to an even tint on the lips. I am really enjoying shades inspired by tropical get-always: think bright pinks, oranges and corals, all of which are really complimentary to tanned skin and look wonderful teamed with the aforementioned blue mascara.
If you don't have time to constantly reapply your make-up (and who does) a great summer investment is a make-up setting spray, it doesn't have to be anything fancy, just something to set any powder and liquid products is place with ease. The great thing about such sprays is that not only do they prolong make-up (and also intensify the pigment of say bright eyeshadow and blushes) but they can be used to cool and calm the skin too. I also can't recommend gel nail polish enough - nothing will last longer on your nails than this! No chips, no flaky nails just a glossy finish that is tough enough to survive weeks on end. Be brave, choose a shade you wouldn't normally select (even if just for a pedicure), add a little colour into your life (the brighter the better), I promise it will make you smile each time you catch a glimpse of your nails.
