I hate to be this person but where has time went? It is now March and I have fistful of half attempted New Years Resolutions and all my Winter weight that I swore on January the 1st I'd have shed and yet here we are. It feels like forever since I sat down and composed a favourites post - or y'know at least emptied my handbag - but as they are one of my favourite things to read, I thought it would only be fair that I too indulged.
Yes I was sponsored to write about Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation last week but I promise the love is very much real, and as such since my samples arrived in late January it has pretty much been my daily base. What I like most about Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation is that not only does it cover beautifully while being entirely lightweight but it contains ingredients to repair and protect the skin - think of it as skincare and make-up coming together seamlessly. It is also one of the very few foundations that leaves my oily skin looking dewy not greasy and that alone is no easy task. Find it here - link.
I have three go-to lip products - all of which do roll around the bottom of my bag, I have no shame -:
Clarins Lip Liner Pencil in 02 Nude Beige - All month long I have been wearing Charlotte Tilbury Pillowtalk Lipstick and as much as I love the matching lip liner, I wanted something ever so slightly deeper to add a little extra contrast and definition. A great match so to speak is the Clarins Lip Liner Pencil in 02 Nude Beige, a rosy toned nude that is similar to Pillowtalk but a smidgen deeper so that there is a little distinction between the two shades, which can create a plumper and dare I say it altogether more interesting lip pairing. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillowtalk - Yes this is the lipstick all anyone could talk about recently and for great reason too - it truly is one of the most flattering nudes of all time. It is warm but not overly so, nude yet with a flattering pink undertone and a soft matte finish to create naturally plump lips. If you love the lip liner of the same name, it is safe to say you need this too; if you have yet to the colour full stop, start with the lipstick - it will save you money in the long run. Bare Minerals Matte Lip Colour in Cookie - I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't care what Bare Minerals Matte Lip Colour you decide to purchase, just make sure you indulge in at least one. I kid you not when I say this is the most comfortable and glorious matte liquid lipstick formulation I have ever tried. It glides on like a dream, never flakes, smudges or budges and the neutral shade range is beyond flattering. At the moment I am using a mini of the shade Cookie that I bought in Sephora before the U.K launch but I will be purchasing all 10 shades slowly over the course of the year - if that doesn't sell you on the formula, I guess nothing will. I dip in and out of eyeshadow palettes and truthfully never remain all that loyal to one - I'm fickle, what can I say? I do however really like the ease and shade assortment of the Milani Bare Essentials Palette: 6 shades that all lean fairly neutral with a soft (be careful not to drop the palette as it will shatter much like mine did) yet well pigmented formulation. I enjoy that this kit is fairly dinky in size and yet offers both matte and metallic shades as well as enough colour options to create both day and night looks. Find it here - link.
If like myself you find yourself wearing coral toned blushes on an all but daily basis, then run don't walk to your nearest Benefit counter and try out Benefit Galifornia Blush. Admittedly I do hate the cardboard packaging but once you look past this, the bright and somewhat pink toned coral shade inside complete with intricate gold detailing is enough to thaw out even the frostiest of hearts. It is one of those beautiful yet bold shades that instantly perks up any complexion. I am hooked. Find it here - link.
I'm slowly but surely getting back into the habit of painting my nails and with great at home gel formulations it has become a whole lot easier to not call upon the talents of a nail salon. I am pretty loyal to the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel System: a two step process that involves a gel infused colour and clear top coat, both of which do not need to be cured by any form of lamp. I know that there are a lot of products around of this nature but on a budget, I really do believe you'd be hard pushed to find anything nearly as effective as the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polishes. At the moment, I am hooked on the light, almost milky and very Spring appropriate shade that is All Chalked Up. It applies like a dream and if I do remember to apply toe Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat it wears for up to a week, chip free. Find it here - link.
Lilies are my favourite flower but as I have cats, it is not something that I ever have at home as they are poisonous to such hairy little creatures. What forever puzzles me is that there aren't too many Lily based fragrances on the market (my personal favourite is Stella McCartney L.I.L.Y Eau de Parfum) so when a new one comes along, you can bet your bottom dollar I am all over it...some might say like a rash. Just yesterday Jo Malone launched their Bloomsbury Set collection which features no less than five fragrances inspired by unconventional lifestyles. As a self confessed Lily lover, I honed in on Jo Malone Garden Lilies Cologne and it is everything I could want in such scent and more: soft, floral and yet bold and a little citrusy. As a side note, I am itching for a new mascara so if anyone has any must-try's I am all ears.
