Both Valentine's Day, and of course the slightly more modern but equally as sweet Gal-entine's Day are right around the corner. Whatever your sentiment might be towards such "holidays", I'm sure we can all agree that there is at least one person in your life, worthy of a little token of affection come next week? Perhaps you have a spouse, a partner or maybe you simply want to tell your best friend that you appreciate them more than know?
As a blogger, the importance of friendship amongst like minded ladies and gents, is one that I will never overlook. Sure I have childhood friends, a best friend - that I've all but known since birth - and of course a gaggle of wonderful ladies, I met at University but none of them truly get what I do for a living and as such work conversations can be a little difficult. That is why I am so grateful that through a love of lipstick, sarcasm, gifs and believe it or not, a passion for crystals led me to becoming friends with Rowena from Cosmetic Candy. She is one of the very few people I have come across in life that I can (and do) talk to her about everything and anything, as such I could think of no person more deserving than her to gift a bottle of personalised fragrance to this February.
The old adage is true, it really is the thought that counts and what could be more thoughtful than gifting a loved one, a bottle of ready to wear scent that has been personalised; be it with their name or if they happen to be a blogger, their blog name? This year it couldn't be easier to make the gift of fragrance that little more special and precious thanks to Boots - the complimentary engraving service is currently available in many UK stores. I was kindly gifted a bottle of Narciso Rodriguez for Her Eau de Parfum by Boots for Valentine's Day, that has been delicately etched with my blog name - a forever reminder of all the wonderful things that blogging has afforded me along the way, including friendship. I will forever treasure the bottle (engraving and all) and hope that one day, when I finally settle down and have kids, I can tell them all about my days as a beauty blogger and perhaps a delicate trail of fragrance will still escape from the bottle and take me right back to this very post? The scent itself, is warm, comforting and familiar - a lot like having a long, get-it-all-off-your-chest chat with a good friend and yet it makes me feel confident and ready to take on the world - or in the very least tackle my inbox!
For Rowena, I selected the Flora By Gucci - The Garden Collection: Gorgeous Gardenia Eau De Toilette and opted to have it engraved with her name - again so that she could have a forever memento. My reasoning behind the scent choice is that we are both very optimistic people and I believe without a little rain, you can't have flowers - cheesy but it is true. I wanted the beautiful, bright and truly floral notes of Flora by Gucci to remind Rowena that even on the worst of days, there's always something good right around the corner. Yes it is a fragrance but hopefully the little hidden meaning behind the choice can become something of an "in joke", or something that in the very least would harbour a giggle when it feels like all else is going wrong. Isn't that what friendship - blogger or otherwise - is all about? Having each others backs in weird and wonderful ways?
Regardless of what your friend, Mum, Grandmother, Sister or partner does for a living, treat them to something a little more personalised with one of the many fragrances that can be engraved at Boots - it will be a constant reminder of your bond and something I can guarantee that will be more than appreciated and treasured as the years and memories roll by.
To make the art of gift giving that little easier, Boots have a complied the ultimate Valentine's Day gift guide which includes lots of fragrance ideas (some of which feature a £10 discount) here - link.
