The quickest and easiest way to update both your everyday look and make-up bag is with a quick slick of a new lip product - that and who doesn't love a new lipstick or two? As it is the very start of the year, the beauty world is in overdrive with new and exciting lip launches (there seems to be an emphasis on lip treatments at the moment; I'm guessing this is no coincidence - hello dried and chapped lips) so if ever there was a time to treat yourself or maybe a loved one, it is now. Let me share five of the best of the latest lip arrivals...
Clinique x Crayola Chubby Sticks
Very seldom does make-up leave me feeling nostalgic but as someone who harboured dreams of becoming the next Picasso as a child, armed with a stash of well used, and often abused Crayola Crayons, the Clinque x Crayola collaboration hit myself - and so many others - straight in the feels. A lip product gut punch if you will, but one that delivers warm and fuzzy feelings. Essentially both the brand behind the now iconic lip crayon, and the creator of youthful scribbles have joined forces to create a limited edition range of tinted lip balms. They have settled on using the beloved Clinique nourishing formula but tinting it using the iconic Crayola Crayon shades as the inspiration behind the new and limited edition lip hues. All in all, it is a sweet and entirely practical collaboration - I mean who doesn't use or need a tinted lip balm - that includes a number of wonderful, entirely flattering and universal shades. What is not to love. My personal favourite has to be Clinique x Crayola Chubby Stick in Razzmatazz - a fun, almost berry pink that gives a just bitten effect.
Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint in Bare Pink
I should really declare January as the month of tinted lip balms as new launches and additions seem to be popping up daily, another notable arrival is the new shades of the Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tints. Much like you'd expect from any lip balm worth its salt, Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint is a lip balm first - in that it gently cares for and nourishes your lips - and a tint second. What sets the Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint apart from your typical tinted balm, is that each shade relies on the wearers pH balance to create a natural, custom flush of colour that is for you, and only you. I have been testing out Bare Pink and have fallen prey to both the subtle, and entirely natural hint of pink it provides - perfect for days when really make-up is the last thing on your mind and yet you want to look polished - also the lip soothing and restorative qualities the Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint line provides.
Bobbi Brown Remedies Skin Salve
Maybe you don't want a tinted lip balm but would rather have a product that cares for your lips and so much more? Enter Bobbi Brown Remedies Skin Salve, a restoring, solid skin treatment that can be used on the lips and any other area of the body for instant comfort, moisture and restoration. Best described as a liquid bandage, Bobbi Brown Remedies Skin Salve contains a rich blend of Shea Butter, Beeswax, Carrot and Liquorice Extracts to both cocoon and repair the skin. Think of this as a supped up version of your beloved 8 hour cream.
MAC Lip Scrubtious
Launching later this month nationwide (they are already available in the U.S here) is the new MAC Lip Scubtious collection. Yes the name is a little cheesy but once you look past this, the concept and product is both useful and dare I say borderline genius. As you may have guessed, the MAC Lip Scrubtious range is a collective of five tinted sugar based lip scrubs that not only gently buff away dry and dead skin cells, but gently tint and moisturise the lips too. Think of it as an all-in-one lip treatment you can stash in your jacket pocket.
Ciate Liquid Velvet Moisturising Matte Liquid Lipsticks
Much like we predicted, matte liquid lipsticks will continue to be big news all throughout 2017, if your stash is looking a little tired or perhaps you are fed up with overly drying formulations, Ciate is the brand that should be on your lips. Not only are Ciate expanding their existing colour line up with no less than nine new shades, most of which are an extensive take on nudes - light, deep and all that is in-between, as well as adding a new orange-red to the range - but they offer what no other liquid matte lipstick can. Comfort. Yes, Ciate Liquid Velvet Matte Lipsticks are a complete joy to wear - they don't dry out the lips, they won't smudge, nor smear and frankly the now extended shade range is joyous. Get one, get two, heck buy seven - just promise me at some point you'll try the range out for yourself.
If five new lip product launches aren't enough to wet your whistle, there's a few new budget lip finds in this post, I want you to know about.
