31 Blog Post Ideas for March For Every Blogger

Over the last few months I have published monthly blog prompt posts to help those that have perhaps run out of ideas, and the truth is I really look forward to writing them. As such I am thinking of perhaps making it a monthly feature - well that is if of course wanted, if you have had all the blogging post ideas you can take do feel free to let me know.

Anyway this month I have decided to somewhat step out of outright beauty post ideas and provided more universal nudges, prompts that can be applied to most blogs with a little imagination.

31 Blog Post Ideas for March For Every Blogger

1, Let's talk about blogging - what made you start, where are you now and how do you see us all progressing. Are you still the same blogger you were when you began?

2, What are the 5 blogs you have been reading the most in 2016, share the love and a link. You could expand this piece by creating categories i.e your top food blogs, your must-read beauty blogs and all that is in-between.

3, What have you been wearing non-stop? This could be a lipstick, a favourite sweater, a fragrance or all of the above.

4, What are your goals for the month or even year ahead, sit down and compose a chatty post - catch everyone up with your life and perhaps share a few plans too.

5, We are all dreaming of a little sun and general escapism, why not share a travel guide to a place you know really well - it could even be your home town. I know what you are thinking how can a beauty blogger adapt this to work - a list of must visit beauty hot spots from salons to nail bars and all that is in-between would be helpful.

6, Speaking of travel, where are you off to next and do you have any general travel tips - what to pack, what to avoid and how to get the best travel deal? Again you could more than adapt this to suit your own blog and writing style.

7, A simple but effective prompt - what have you been purchasing lately? For some it might be lipgloss others it could be home ware pieces, a car and all that is in-between.

8, Next Sunday is Mother's Day here in the UK and I truly can't think of a better time to pen an ode to your Mother or any loved one for that matter. It could be a thank you note, an overview of your day or anything you see as a fitting tribute.

9, What have you been reading? Fiction, non-fiction, beauty books, blogs and websites - I'm sure we are all looking for something new to break up our commute.

10, How do you save money - this is a question I'm constantly asked and as such I know we all have different ideas and approaches. From scrimping on high end beauty products to more lifestyle friendly tips, I'm sure we could all share a few pointers.

11, What are you saving up for? A holiday (I'm being frugal so I can run wild in the aisles of Sephora in New York), a new car, a blow out shopping spree or perhaps something more practical?

12, Do you have a job, full time or otherwise and blog? How do you manage your time to allow you to blog? I'm sure others would appreciate a post full of pointers and tips.

13, The above pointer could also be applied to parents, students and/or careers. We are all looking for advice on how to best manage our time and as everyone has a different approach, no two posts will be the same.

14, What are you letting go of? Negativity, frivolous spending, being harsh on yourself or perhaps a caffeine habit you can't kick. A new month means new beginnings and the chance to try and self improve should you wish.

31 Blog Post Ideas for March For Every Blogger

15, How do you relax? A walk, bubble baths, a good book, the choice is never ending.

16, How has 2016 been thus far? What have you learnt along the way? Skills, lessons or even new products.

17, Have you changed your routine or habits: skincare, fitness, eating or sleeping?

18, Do you have any must try products or items they don't necessarily have to be beauty related. Just the other day a friend of mine was raving over a new cook book. It turns out it is pretty great and yes I did purchase a copy.

19, Do you have any general blogging tips and advice?

20, Do you have any must visit websites and resources that every blogger should know about?

21, Do you know anything about SEO? Do you have some beginners tips and pointers that others could learn about?

22, What pitfalls should bloggers try and avoid and do you have any cautionary tales?

23, Not a prompt as such but a nudge to add a new category to your blog, it could be health, fitness, food heck even your love for conspiracy theories. Broaden your horizons and let people know the real you.

24, Forget blogging for a moment, do you have any time saving general life organisational tips?

25, What are your favourite apps? It can be apps for health, blogging, photography and anything else that you think may be helpful.

26, How do you best de-clutter from your desk, to your wardrobe, to your inbox to even your beauty stash, I'm more than sure you could help others stuck in a rut.

27, How do you stay upbeat? Music, exercise, journalling, taking time out - share your tips and general motivators.

28, What have you overcome this year? A fairly personal post but perhaps one you would like to get off your chest. It could be as simple as eating in public alone, standing up for yourself or even a health issue.

29, What are you most looking forward to in the coming months? Again this is completely open to interpretation, for me it is travel and re-decorating but for others it could be welcoming a baby, getting married, finishing school/collage,  a milestone birthday or whatever they happen to have going on.

30, What advice would you give to bloggers just starting out in 2016? You could expand this piece by talking about how blogging has changed since you began and what you wish you knew back then.

31, Why not compose a list of your own blog post ideas and prompts, if a beauty blogger you could compose beauty suggestions, if a food blogger it could be a month of recipes - the list goes on.

I hope the above is helpful in some capacity, and as mentioned above do let me know if you would like me to compose a list for April?

MAC Caitlyn Jenner Finally Free Lipstick

As a brand MAC Cosmetics could be filled under fearless and not one single person could dispute such label. For decades now, they have tackled subjects that the mainstream media would deem taboo (thankfully on the whole we all seem to be far more accepting now), celebrated all ages, races and sexes long before any other brand stumbled aboard such ship. Currently Twitter is abuzz with excitement and in some instances disappointment, in the choice to launch a collaborative lipstick with Caitlyn Jenner - MAC Finally Free Lipstick which will launch on April the 7th 2016.

MAC Caitlyn Jenner Finally Free Lipstick

Do I agree with everything Caitlyn Jenner has to say? No, I do however respect her bravery to be who she's always wanted to be and in such a public arena too. That can't have been easy and is inspiring however you look at it. MAC Finally Free Lipstick couldn't be a more fitting tribute and if I am right, one of the first ever beauty campaigns to feature a transgender spokesperson - isn't that in itself a wonderful step forward and truly fitting of MAC's All Ages, All Races and All Sexes mantra?

MAC Caitlyn Jenner Finally Free Lipstick

MAC have always excited me and forever leave me asking and pondering "what next?"; I have been hooked since a young teen and the launch of Barbie Loves MAC - a collaboration with a plastic doll shouldn't have been so alluring, yet we all queued in our droves to be the first to snag the now infamous MAC Malibu Barbie Lipglass. Damn I'd love to see such collection re-booted, almost ten years later I'd still be all over it. Then there was the MAC Dame Edna Collection - has any other brand celebrated an almost pantomime dame like character since? Or more importantly used men as the star of promotional campaigns? From Elton John, Ru Paul, Ricky Martin and even Boy George have all featured front and centre in MAC advertisements clearly declaring that cosmetics are for all!

MAC Caitlyn Jenner Finally Free Lipstick

Let's not forget the underdog because MAC certainly don't: from a past collection with bloggers (I am still jealous) to the current MAC Future Forward line up, in which MAC celebrate four upcoming and dare I say exciting musicians, that are on the cusp of becoming household names. Is this a risk other brands are willing to take? Nope. MAC also listen to what the people want, from allowing us to vote to re-launch past and often limited edition products via MAC By Request, to the upcoming launch of MAC x Selena - the result of tireless petitioning and campaigning from one fan, to create a range of MAC products in the honour of the late Selena Quintanilla. All so "on brand" for MAC that you may not be initially blown away but let some of the above game changing moves resonate, and you will most likely agree with me in saying MAC lead, they don't follow.

So for those wondering, yes I will be supporting and purchasing MAC Caitlyn Jenner Finally Free Lipstick. Not for the shade in itself (which is utterly beautiful - a mid-toned rosy nude) but the movement - one hundred percent of the sales from, Finally Free, will benefit the MAC AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative.

Yes, MAC please do keep pushing boundaries - the beauty world would be boring without you.

Hand Painted Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb Bottles

With Mothering Sunday on the horizon (March the 6th) you may be on the lookout for the perfect gift? If your Mother or loved on wears or perhaps has hinted towards a bottle of the iconic Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum, there truly couldn't be a better time to treat such person. Yes as a stand alone product Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum is both a thoughtful and beautiful gift but for a limited time only, you can pick up a hand painted bottle too - fragrance doesn't come much more special nor treasured than this, and such additional touch also happens to be free.

From the 3rd of March until the 9th of March, if you purchase a bottle of Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum you can have your bottle hand-painted within the halls of Selfridges for no additional cost. At the moment I am unsure if all sizes of bottles are eligible and if all stores are participating, you can however find a full list of all Selfridges contact details here. I would suggest ringing ahead to avoid disappointment, as I am sure it will be at certain times and may not be all stores.

Hand Painted Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb Bottles

A beautiful concept wouldn't you agree? Let's face it, this floral explosion will last far longer than any bunch of flowers will and is something you or a loved one can forever display. I will treasure my bottle forever, so much so that I don't actually want to use it, despite it being a favourite fragrance of mine!

The Current Blogging Lull and How to Overcome It

2016 has been a slow starter and I know I am not alone in saying that blogging, well as in sitting down to write the posts has not come as easy as it has used to. Before you click exit assuming that I am going to whine (I do enjoy a good grumble), I promise this won't be a self indulgent post; rather I want to help others out there going through the same thing, and maybe shine a little light on why we are perhaps feeling this way.

The Current Blogging Lull and How to Overcome It

1, It's not shiny or new.
Blogging has been HUGE for a good few years now and as such some of us have been around for around five to seven years or even longer. Now also bear in mind, chances are like myself you began blogging when you were really young and maybe in some instances became lucky enough to call blogging your full time job? Either way you are allowed to be a little burned out, entitled to ask yourself where things are going, and like everyone question and doubt your decisions. Basically you are no longer the same person who began typing from your bedroom with a dot blogspot address and that is okay. Ask anyone who has worked the same job (I realise that blogging is not a vocation for everyone) for an extended period of time, if they still have the same levels of enthusiasm as they did on day one and the answer will be no.

In the same way you may feel your site has become stale, that you've reached the end or you may have simply lost interest. If I may, can I please suggest that you don't give up - the fact that you are worried about the state of blogging shows you care. This is just a lull, a little bump in the road that I truly believe we will all get over. If you love something you will make it work, you'll find a way to re-inject a little life, vigour and magic, one way or another. Grab a pen, a piece of paper and jot down all your ideas, take a risk, add a new feature or two and know that you can and will become a better and stronger blogger for it.

2, Expectations have changed
Blogs are beautiful and in a lot of instances on par with glossy magazines, this is not something you should be annoyed about. You can embrace it and allow the growth and sheen of other blogs to encourage you to up your game, or you can continue to blog as you always have. Either way there is room for us all and frankly I don't think complaining about picture perfect blogs is a constructive use of time nor energy.

You don't have to like glossy blogs/sites but accept and respect that we all have our own styles and aspirations. Change, don't change, but please don't belittle the success and growth of others. Realistically the only pressure we are feeling is that placed upon ourselves, no-one is forcing any of us to blog or to alter aesthetically - take your foot off the peddle and enjoy all you have achieved and please, please stop worrying about what fellow bloggers are doing/not doing. One size does not fit all and there is no blogging mould to worry about.

The Current Blogging Lull and How to Overcome It

3, Blogs aren't going anywhere
That's right they aren't and neither are your readers, yes you will loose a few subscribers over the coming months but guess what, that is life - interests, tastes and priorities change both for you and your following. On the flip side, you will more than likely gain more readers than you loose, and as long as you are creating content you will have a readership - it really is as simple as that.

Undoubtedly YouTube, Instagram and Twitter are huge and look set to explode once more in the coming months but ask yourself what would you do without blogs? Your lunchtime and commute home would be a lot duller, now wouldn't it? Words fill a void that no amusing vlog or instagram image could overtake. As an extra step of reassurance, if blogging was truly on the way out, why would Bloglovin' add a sponsorship feature and why would there be a sudden increase of blogging agencies? This is not the end.

We have not yet reached peak blog, blogging is still a very new industry and as such there is still a few creases to be ironed out. Think just how far this seemingly "silly" industry has come and imagine where it could go. When I was at school (I'm in my 20's) blogging wasn't even a thing, now it is a viable career choice for many, and one of the reasons many a physical publication no longer exists. We have all helped create and shape this frankly fascinating industry and as such we do still posses the power to change the landscape once more if we wish.

4, It is only February
Ease up on yourself; we are only two months into the year, things take time and there is no ticking time bomb. You can still achieve all that you want to do in 2016, change anything that is the cause of stress and should you wish re-launch your blog. March is entirely a new beginning if you want it to be and as I said above your readers and blogs in general aren't going anywhere - take a deep breathe and know that everything is not falling apart around you, you've got this. Take a few days off, plan what direction you envision yourself going from here, and start working on making it reality - I promise in a few months time you will wonder why you were ever worried to begin with.

5, You can walk away whenever you wish.
Perhaps not the most uplifting message to end a post on but freeing none the less; once you realise that you don't have to do something, you may just find the joy and motivation you once lost re-appear.

I apologise (I truly do) that this is not the most articulate of articles, I struggled gathering together all my thoughts and general well wishes and placing them down, none the less I felt I had to get it all off my chest. Hopefully you will find a little reassurance in what I have mentioned above and realise that you are not the only one in this current predicament. You can and will overcome this.

Lush Spring Collections 2016

I know what you are thinking, Lush don't tend to launch a Spring collection. Correct, at the moment Lush have just rolled out both an Easter and Mother's Day line up and as it is technically Spring and I have items from both collectives, I thought I'd save us both a little time and combine both sets of products in one large post...yes it is a little lazy but as it is Saturday, I'm hoping you'll forgive me?

Lush Spring Collections 2016
Lush Spring Collections 2016

Lush Bouncy Bunny Shower Jelly £3.95 - link
Best described as a solidified yet wobbly shower gel, this cute jelly shaped bunny will gently cleanse your skin as well as toning too. As you may have guessed, this is indeed scented with a bright sunny orange fragrance - Brazilian Orange Oil no less and as it goes this is the toning product. To ensure skin is left soft and supple, this cute re-usable rabbit also contains Carrageenan extract. A great product for both the young and young at heart.

Lush Spring Collections 2016

Lush Bunch Of Carrots £6.25 - link
No your eyes do not fool you, you are indeed viewing neon pink and orange carrots, carrots that foam and produce an abundance of bubbles no less. The Lush Bunch Of Carrots are exceedingly great value for money, three bubble bars all of which provide up to five bubble baths each and all for the tidy sum of £6.25. If you enjoy bright, fruity fragrances this is the bath-time addition you have been waiting for, the Lush Bunch of Carrots feature a blend of lemon, buchu and grapefruit oils to create an uplifting and almost tropical treat.

Lush Spring Collections 2016

Lush Somewhere Over the Rainbow Soap from £4.25 - link
One more bright and citrus based body cleanser to cover all bases, Lush Somewhere Over the Rainbow Soap is of course a solid bar of soap that has been gently scented and formulated with sunny citrus oils: Sicilian mandarin and Tunisian neroli to tone and brighten as well as leaving the skin feeling fresh. There is also a dash of Turkish rose to prevent the fragrance being too fruity and dare I say childish. A great everyday chunk of soap to have by the sink, not to mention it looks pretty great in a dish too.

Lush Spring Collections 2016

Lush Rose Bombshell £3.95 - link
Love rose fragrances? Love bath bombs? Well the Lush Rose Bombshell is the perfect product for you, as fresh as a bouquet of roses thanks to a trio of rose accents: yellow rose petals, rose absolute and rose oil, add a splash of lemon and neorli oil and you have a fresh Spring bath product that is perfect for an evening of indulgence. Treat a loved one to this bath bomb, they deserve it.

Lush Spring Collections 2016

Lush Flowering Tea Bubble Bar £4.95 - link
A tea bag shaped bubble bar, would could be more delightful? A delicately floral scented one that can be used time and time again, that's what. The Lush Flowering Tea Bubble Bar is a gentle yet fresh blend of neroli and rosewood oils, combined with blue cornflowers, orange flower absolute and a kick of rich rosewood. I know this is entirely twee but it oddly reminds me of afternoon tea and pretty china patterns. Fragrance and appearance aside, this foams beautifully and does leave the skin feeling soft and of course cleansed.

Try Before You Fully Commit Sizes

I love dinky, travel or as some would say fun-sized products, no I'm not talking sachets of cream or tiny 1ml vials of fragrance but rather scaled down try-me items. From half sized pencils to miniature pots of blush, I can guarantee you that I'm oddly more likely to be swayed to click purchase or hand over my bank card, if the beauty product happens to be dinky.

Try Before You Fully Commit Sizes

Size is always an issue (get your mind out of the gutter), sure full sized products work out to be kinder on the purse-strings in the long run, but really who when it comes to travel or your daily handbag, do you want to lug around several heavy bulky items? Not me, I have no upper body strength and a full water bottle rolling around the inside of my bag is as close to cardio as I'm willing to admit. For trips abroad smaller beauty items don't just tend to travel better (oddly mine never smash nor chip) but the free up extra space in my suitcase, should a mad dash around Sephora happen. You know the drill.

Try Before You Fully Commit Sizes

Admittedly smaller, travel friendly products don't always work out to be all that cost effective if compared to the original full sized item, however they can save you money in the long run. Think about all those disregarded bottles of foundation you own, at first they were great but slowly for various reasons you fell out of love with them. Now think of all that money you have wasted (not a guilt trip I promise) and ask yourself, if there was a try me size, perhaps a week or two supply bottle available would you purchase it? I know I would, my skin is fickle and high-end foundation doesn't come cheap. My logic also expands to blush and lip colours, I truly do think that if brands launched scaled down sized items of their best-sellers, it would result in double sales: you try the mini, love it and go back for the full sized. Heck I'd even repurchase miniature lip and cheek items just for stashing inside a clutch, so triple sales when you really think about it?

Try Before You Fully Commit Sizes

And yet other than Sephora and to an extent Boots (Smashbox and Estee Lauder now offer travel sized products) try-before-you-fully-commit sized products aren't the norm. Bizarre really as there certainly is a demand; visit any Sephora store and you will notice that just about every customer has at least one travel sized product within their basket, along with rollerball fragrances. Gosh I love rollerball fragrances and it is hard to resist pocket sized Nars and Hourglass products, believe me I've tried. If there is demand elsewhere I really don't understand why the UK is again missing out, perhaps Sephora own exclusivity rights over the smaller scaled products or maybe brands don't think it is something that would do well here?

Try Before You Fully Commit Sizes

Either way I do hope things change and sooner rather than later, I would love to be able to peruse try me sized beauty items, along with more rollerball and purse sized fragrances, all without booking a flight outside the UK.

Michael Kors Sexy Sunset Eau de Parfum

I'm a long time wearer and pusher of Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche Skinscent: light, creamy and ever so tropical - the equivalent of visiting a faraway beach, when your current view is a city car park. The problem with Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche Skinscent is that as soon as it launches, it all but sells out and rightly so, it truly is divine. Yes this Summer I will be in line to replenish my depleted bottle but the difference is I won't be as maniacal. Why? Well I have found an equally yet altogether different Summer fragrance in Michael Kors Sexy Sunset Eau de Parfum.

Michael Kors Sexy Sunset Eau de Parfum

Not only is the fragrance irresistible (more on that in a moment) but the bottle Michael Kors Coral Eau de Parfum comes neatly presented within in, is pretty darn special too. The coral shade of the fragrance couldn't be more fitting for the upcoming warm season and the golden touches are in no way gaudy - it says Summer, it says fun and all but hints that the fragrance will be utterly delectable. Spoiler alert, it is.

Michael Kors Sexy Sunset Eau de Parfum

Like any good Summer-ready fragrance worth its weight, Michael Kors Sexy Sunset Eau de Parfum is of course slightly fruity yet not at all cloying. Gentle yet uplifting notes of blackcurrant and pear mingle with creamy sandalwood and vanilla for an undeniably exotic and warm scent. Michael Kors Sexy Sunset Eau de Parfum could also be described as being ever so floral, it reminds me of the scent of pollen gently mingling with a soft, sea breeze; this is achieved with notes of freesia, lotus flower, peony, gardenia and jasmine. It is all the best parts of a foreign holiday gathered together and pushed into a cute bottle - scrumptious cocktails, fruit salads, late night floral blooms and a hint of sunscreen and yet it has a certain level of sophistication. I can almost guarantee that if you do test this, you will not only purchase a bottle but it will be all you wear once Summer 2016 rolls around. You have been warned.

10 Beauty Must-Haves Under £10

Like most, I am still feeling the beginning of the year pinch, y'know when it seems you have more bills than cash and you've still to scrape up the funds for the annual Summer holiday. Yet you still want to treat yourself now and then. I hear ya and feel ya, as a matter of a fact I have gathered up ten of my favourite ever budget finds, each of which costs less than £10. You can thank me later.

10 Beauty Must-Haves Under £10

Superdrug Anti Ageing Hand Cream £1.49/75ml - link.
Have you found your perfect hand cream yet? No, well let me guide you quickly towards Superdrug Anti Ageing Hand Cream; an intense yet non-greasy balm like cocoon for the hands that contains not only Shea Butter and Pro-vitamin B5 to deeply nourish and hydrate the skin. To ensure that your hands remain youthful in appearance for as long as possible, Superdrug Anti Ageing Hand Cream contains UV filters too. At just £1.49 for a handy (terrible pun fully intended) sized tube this is one you don't want to miss out on.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint £3.99 each via Superdrug - link.
One area I forever skimp on is nail polish, I have never really been all that impressed by pricey formulations and would rather spend my money elsewhere. One brand that I forever rely on for all my nail needs is Barry M, affordable with both fashion forwards shades and classic hues too - there is good reason why most beauty-loving types own a good few Barry M Nail Paints. I personally stock up on Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints, I particularly enjoy the high glossy finish not to mention they are cruelty free. I will admit that to extend the wear time of any Barry M Nail Paint you do need a quick slick of top coat, otherwise I have no complaints whatsoever. I urge those that have yet to be introduced to the world of  Barry M products, to head to your local Boots or Superdrug store and fill your boots/basket.

10 Beauty Must-Haves Under £10

P.S Lip Liner £1 via Primark
Like most I pop into my local Primark store for socks, pyjamas and the odd piece of costume jewellery but not to be overlooked is their cosmetic range; from rather impressive sheet masks to wash off tanner and of course lip liners, the P.S Beauty range is well worth seeking out. I am personally enamoured by the P.S Lip Liner collection, there is around 6 shades all of which are creamy, long-lasting and in entirely wearable shades. At just £1 you owe it to yourself to pop one in your basket the next time you are in store - the nude shade is particularly purchase worthy.

Max Factor Long Lasting Lipstick £8.99 via Boots - link
Do you long to own an luxurious yet inexpensive lipstick? Well look no further than the Max Factor Long Lasting Lipstick collective of 12 fun yet easy to wear shades, with such an expansive range of shades there is something for every complexion and need. My personal favourite has to be Just Alluring, a bright and punchy pink that glides on to the lips with a soft creamy texture and wears for up to 8 hours per application. Rather impressively each Max Factor Long Lasting Lipstick contains a blend of lip conditioners and nourishing oils, these ensure that the skin is well catered for and allow you to skip a separate lip balm should you wish. Who says luxury has to cost the earth?

10 Beauty Must-Haves Under £10

MUA Eyeshadow Palettes £4 each - link
Forget that most people deem the MUA palettes to be reasonable dupes to more expensive eyeshadow kits, that really only a bonus factor and focus on the fact that each MUA palette contains twelve large eyeshadows for £4. Not only does each palette contain a vast assortment of shade options and in some instances finishes too but the formulation isn't half bad either. Yes you will require an eyeshadow primer to prolong wear and to also prevent creasing, but other than that there is no real application issues. Above I have the MUA Undressed Eyeshadow Palette, a great range of light neutral eyeshadows coupled with a sprinkling of smoky hues to ensure all bases are covered.

Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara £6.99 via Boots - link.
I say it all the time, Revlon Mascaras are so underrated: affordable yet offer wonderful results. I believe you could purchase any Revlon mascara and be more than satisfied but for me the real star of the show is Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara. This soft, natural brush gently grabs every lash and stretches them to their full potential, adding a little volume too. One quick coat provides a natural but fluttery look, two coats provides the dramatic false lash look so many of us love. Your make-up bag needs this.

NYX Brow Gel £5.50 via Feel Unique - link
Say hello to the best budget brow gel you will ever find; this nifty tube not only comes in an array of natural shades but gently fills and tints the brow hairs too. As you can imagine being a gel based product, this also tames any stray hairs and allows you to forgo a setting gel should you wish. Yes this is a seemingly good dupe for the Make Up For Ever Brow Gel but if anything the NYX Brow Gel comes in more natural shades, especially if you require a fair shade. The downside? Application can be a little tricky, I find along with practise a stiff angled brush can work wonders.

10 Beauty Must-Haves Under £10

Sunkissed Matte Bronzer £3.99 via Superdrug
I'm not all that familiar with the brand Sunkissed but having stumbled across the matte bronzing powder, I will be paying more attention in the future. This huge slab of matte bronzer comes in a great, warm yet non-orange hue that allows you to not only warm the skin but contour too. As the pan is so large this can also double up as a body bronzer too, perfect for helping to disguise tan lines come the warmer seasons.

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder in Pink Shimmer £3 via Superdrug - link
Forget that the MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powders are beautifully embossed and rather focus on the beautiful, difficult-to-find-in-powder-form oyster pink hue. MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder in Pink Shimmer is a light yet brightening, suit all pink hue that provides a high quality sheen-come-foil like finish that looks great on all. At just £3 I can not recommend it enough, with a fluffy brush you can impart a subtle glow to the skin, and with a fan brush you can create a more intense finish. It truly is not only my favourite budget highlighter but also one of my favourite highlighting powders of all time.

Natural Collection Blush in Pink Cloud £1.99 via Boots - link
Got £2? Great, then you need to treat yourself to Natural Collection Blush in Pink Cloud. This pretty, mid-toned matte pink blush adds a subtle flush of colour to the cheeks without ever being chalky nor over the top. Matte pink blushes are really difficult to get just right and yet this £1.99 beauty is near perfection. A quick swirl, combined with a fluffy brush and you have a long-wearing healthy glow, a beauty steal if ever there was one.

Go on, enable me - tell me your one budget beauty find that I need to try next?

Instagram Made Me Do It

Instagram is such a "thing" isn't it? I start and end my day with a scroll of my feed and spend hours not only obsessing over my little grid but most likely yours too. However unlike beauty blogs I don't find myself clicking on links, nor making little lists of must-try products after watching a Youtube tutorial. I can truly count on one hand the products that Instagram persuaded me I needed, yes need because apparently I have very little self control.

Instagram Made Me Do It

For a good few years, I promised myself that as soon as I stepped into an Ulta I would purchase both of the Lorac Pro Palettes and that is exactly what I did. Zero regrets: two beautiful palettes that have both usable neutral staples in matte, satin and metallic formulations, coupled with bright splashes of colour - in a word, perfection and this is most likely why they are still firm Instagram (and make-up fans in general) favourites. If you have any doubt in wither the Lorac palettes are worthy of the splurge then let me be the one to tell you yes and then yes again. Do you need both? Probably not, the Lorac Pro Palette is warm toned and the Lorac Pro Palette 2 is cooler toned - the problem is once you purchase one, a lot like the Urban Decay Naked family, you find yourself lusting after the others.

Perfectly sculpted and chiselled cheekbones are pretty much the order of the day on Instagram and I'm of the mindset that if you've got it flaunt it. The problem is I don't have it, not even close - I have a chubby face (looking at you excessive carb consumption) and need a little helping hand in carving out the hollows of my cheeks. The palette of choice, the one and only Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Series Contour Kit, six wonderfully formulated powders that are perfectly toned to create natural shadows on the face. Truthfully as far as contour palettes of the powder variety go, this is hard to beat and I'm more than willing to bet that it will stand the test of time. Again Instagram did not get this wrong and yes this does belong in your make-up stash.

Another Anastasia Beverly Hills purchase egged on by too many hours of stalking insanely talented face painters was the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks. Sadly I wish I hadn't fell for the hype, now don't get me wrong the shade range is not only pretty but expansive too. My main gripe with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks is that they set fully on the lips, or at least in experience and when they do dry down, they feel really heavy and dare I say a little sticky. At $20 a tube I'm sorry I do expect a little more, especially as liquid matte lipsticks are everywhere at the moment.

Two hits and a miss isn't too bad now is it?

Now over to you, is Instagram a constant drain on your bank account or do you tend to only scroll through the pretty photos and leave it there. Or perhaps and maybe a little controversially do you avoid purchasing anything off the back of Instagram due to the barrage of advertisements?

Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil

I go through tub after tub of Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm as I have a tendency to use more than I need; a habit that expands across all Cleansing Balms I own which can quickly become expensive. As much as I enjoy and use Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, I have often longed for a similar formulation but in oil form - y'know for those days where time is of the essence. Fortunately for me it seems my prayers have been answered in Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil.

Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil

The first thing I want to mention about Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil is the price, Elemis are not a budget brand and for all the right reasons - great innovation and ingredients. As such I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil retails at £29.50 for a whopping 195ml of product (£10 less than the Elemis Cleansing Balm) - I would not be surprised if one bottle of this oil lasts for up to six months and that is using it twice a day. As this comes complete with a pump dispenser there is no spills, waste or guess-timation when it comes to application: one to two quick pumps of product, apply to dry skin, quickly massage in small circular motions and rinse clear. It couldn't be easier nor more effective.

Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil has been blended with over 90% natural oils and I'm told has been formulated to respect the skin's natural pH balance; it won't strip the skin and yet it does effectively and deeply cleanse, perhaps more so than your average non-oil based cleanser. I own a good few cleansing oils and would say that Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil has a slightly lighter than normal texture - great if you aren't a huge fan of oils on the whole but enjoy the benefits. Now back to ingredients, the Omega element is provided by Winter Rose oil (yep no lard traces in sight), this is naturally rich in Omega-9 which is known for its anti-inflammatory qualities. This is alongside Chia seed which not only nourishes and moisturises the skin but is a key ingredient in terms of make-up removal, it does so gently gently and protects the skin's natural barrier. Lastly Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil contains vitamin-rich Pomegranate for a shot of radiance and of course to promote plump, soft skin too.

Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil

Having used Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil for close to a month now, I can vouch that not only is this user friendly - it quickly melts off all traces of make-up and general grime and without any tugging or pulling at the skin; this is all the while leaving the skin feeling comforted and dare I say fresh. As someone with an easily aggravated, acne prone skin, I am also happy that despite being an ingredient rich and natural oil based product, this has not irritated my skin in the slightest. Much like I mentioned above, yes this is moisturising but thanks to the lighter texture it is suitable for all skin types and possibly needs too.

Elemis Nourishing Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil is another hit and mostly like bathroom staple-to-be too. You can find it via Debenhams for £26.55 via Debenhams - link.

A Complete Guide to Pixi Facial Mists

Pixi Beauty is such a great brand and a rarity amongst the cosmetic stands as they offer not only wonderful and effective skincare items but of course, also have a vast and well-loved make-up collection too. Seamlessly blurring the lines of skincare and cosmetics is the Pixi Facial Mists; three wonderfully formulated sprays, that offer various benefits and as most won't be in a hurry to purchase all three in one swoop, I thought a quick guide to the world of Pixi Facial Mists was in order.

A Complete Guide to Pixi Facial Mists

Pixi Glow Mist £16/80ml - link.
As the name suggests, Pixi Glow Mist has been formulated to give the wearer an instant hit of radiance. Unlike say a traditional highlighting product this does not impart any sort of shimmer onto the skin, rather it provides a soft and altogether subtle dewy effect. What you may not be able to see is that the Pixi Glow Mist contains no less than 13 natural oils, as well as Propolis, Aloe Vera and fruit extracts. This however does not result in a sticky nor greasy spray but perhaps is better suited to normal and drier complexions, opposed to oilier skin types as it is fairly hydrating. Pixi state that as will all of their facial mists this can be used three ways: to prime and protect the skin (it does so wonderfully and hydrates too), to set the make-up (I'm not convinced it does much in this sense) and whenever you feel you need to refresh and hydrate the skin be that with make-up on or not. In my opinion Pixi Glow Mist's secret power is being able to transform dried out and dare I say cakey make-up. If like myself you have a tendency to over powder your face and look a little less human as the end result, or find that as the day goes on your make-up looks less than fresh - this is Pixi Mist you want by your side. A few quick spritz and all signs of dried up make-up has gone, and all without removing the offending products from your face. It's magical.

A Complete Guide to Pixi Facial Mists

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist £18/80ml - link
This is the latest addition to the Pixi Facial Mist range and is seemingly the most popular, especially amongst those with a drier skin type.Forget what you know about facial moisturising sprays Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist is different, it includes: Hyaluronic Acid, Black Oat, Pro-vitamin A, and Linoleic Acid, so not only does it instantly plump, repair and soothe the skin but thanks to the Hyaluronic Acid it encourages the skin to retain moisture naturally. I deem the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist as an on-the-go moisturiser, a spray that can be relied upon should your skin ever feel tight, uncomfortable or parched. Rather conveniently this mist can be used with other moisturising products for an intensive dose of hydration. If that is not enough it can be used as a primer before make-up (especially effective on drier complexions) and/or before a face mask (avoid using in conjunction with a peel off formulation). What I like most about the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist is that it works; certain facial sprays in the past were no more than a refreshing spritz of water, my skin did not feel nourished nor cared for; this is not the case with the Hydrating Milky Mist, yes it refreshes but it instantly soothes, calms and hydrates the skin too.

A Complete Guide to Pixi Facial Mists

Pixi Make Up Fixing Mist £16/80ml - link.
Much like most make-up setting sprays you apply Pixi Make Up Fixing Mist after you have finished your make-up to keep things in place, but did you know you can use it as a primer? Simply mist on the skin before make-up application, allow to dry and apply make-up as usual. Pixi Make Up Fixing Mist has been formulated so it also refreshes and hydrates the skin, using rose water and green tea extracts and can be used throughout the day for that reason alone, much like other cooling facial mists. As I imagine most will purchase Pixi Make Up Fixing Mist in the hope prolonging make-up wear, which it does; it keeps my make-up from not only sliding off my face but to some extent also offers a little oil control, all without parching my skin of natural moisture, nor altering the finish of any make-up it is applied on top of. As a matter of a fact I would deem this to be fairly hydrating without overwhelming the complexion. I will admit that it is not as heavy duty nor as long lasting as the Urban Decay All Nighter option but then again it does offer more skin care benefits.

I hope this makes deciding on which Pixi Beauty Facial Mist to purchase a little easier?

5 U.S Drugstore Beauty Products You Need to Try

It will probably come as little surprise that I love the United States of America, if I could I would happily live there (if anyone is looking to adopt an overgrown woman-child, let me know) and as such I do try to visit at least once a year. I of course enjoy and currently reside in the UK but as the saying goes, the grass is always greener and I can't help but find myself more than enjoying US based launches. Sure there is the likes of Sephora to get a quick international beauty fix but really my heart belongs to the Drugstore; I love nothing more than a quick waltz around Walgreens to stock up on bargainous and often innovative products. If you are scheduled to touch down in the US of A any time soon, I have five affordable beauty items you simply have to track down and try out for yourself.

5 U.S Drugstore Beauty Products You Need to Try

Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen (you can find this via eBay if not in the U.S here - link)
Last year while in Florida, I ran out of facial sunscreen and found myself in the beauty halls of my local Drugstore, debating what liquid SPF I should purchase next. On a whim I settled on Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen SPF55: it was affordable with both UVA and UVB protection, promised not to break out my acne prone skin nor clog my pores and offered a high level of protection. Six months on and there is not a day, in which I don't kick myself for not stock piling this wonderfully light yet protective lotion. Let's forget the price, yes at around £10 for a huge 68ml bottle it is a complete steal, however even if this retailed for £30+ I'd probably still hand over my bank card - yes, the formulation is that good. Don't be fooled by Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen's chalky white appearance, as soon as you apply this gentle-yet-hydrating lotion to the skin, it instantly turns transparent and oddly matte. I never thought I'd be a fan of a matte sunscreen but as this optically blurs enlarged pores and possibly fine lines too, what's not to like; the matte finish also provides a little oil control, ideal for not only balmy weather conditions but as a base for make-up products too. I've just re-ordered two bottles of Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen via eBay, and will be bringing home pretty much all I can carry of this SPF once I come home from New York this Summer. You need to try this. Yes I said need.

5 U.S Drugstore Beauty Products You Need to Try

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser
A few years ago, Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser was all anyone could rave about, yet like many other products before and after it interest waned. I may have dabbled with other gradual tanners along the way but to date nothing has quite been able to replace Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser. You see, this quick to dry lotion: gently bronzes my skin without turning me a bright orange hue, is fool-proof (it doesn't tend to streak), all the while leaving my skin feeling soft and catered for. Typically I do mostly rely upon the tanning prowess of Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser in the cooler months, y'know when a deep bronze tan seems a little unrealistic in the depths of a Glaswegian Winter.

5 U.S Drugstore Beauty Products You Need to Try

Studio 35 Beauty Complete Moisture Lotion
Studio 35 is Walgreens in-house cosmetic brand, typically they do seek to offer affordable alternatives to well known products. I am none too sure how I feel about how closely Studio 35 mimic the packaging and downright product formulations of the items they are duping; I will however recommend that you try out Studio 35 Beauty Complete Moisture Lotion. Yes this is a rip-off (why bother sugar coating it) of a Vaseline product but oddly this has a thicker and more nourishing texture. A texture that is light yet deeply hydrating and in my experience non-irritating towards Eczema prone skin. The kicker - I bought this in a pre-breakfast haze by mistake, I thought it was Vaseline's Vitamin E Total Moisture Lotion . Sure it turned out to be a happy mistake but perhaps one that Vaseline won't necessarily be all that ecstatic about - hashtag profit loss.

5 U.S Drugstore Beauty Products You Need to Try

Psssst! Dry Shampoo
Is this the best dry shampoo I have ever used? In a word no, but it isn't the worst either. If you are planning on travelling to the US and want to pack light, then you could easily leave your dry shampoo at home and give Psssst! Dry Shampoo a whirl. It is not overly powdery and as such it doesn't tend to leave a white cast on the hair, couple this with a light and fresh scent and a little additional volume and you have a decent dry shampoo. I should also add that a whopping 50g can costs around $5 so it is pretty cost effective too.

5 U.S Drugstore Beauty Products You Need to Try

CeraVe Eye Repair Cream (you can find this here via Amazon - link)
Yes I rave about CeraVe Eye Repair Cream at any given opportunity but it truly is a skincare revelation - a gentle yet potent eye cream that not only nourishes, moisturises and protects the delicate skin surrounding the eye. I will leave it here by saying that this works and if you want a more in-depth review, you can read my full post here - link.

Fellow Brits, what do you find yourself dashing around the Drugstore for and perhaps more importantly U.S based beauty lovers - what is the one product that I should try next time I'm in town?

Fellow Brits, what do you find yourself dashing around the Drugstore for and perhaps more importantly U.S based beauty lovers - what is the one product that I should try next time I'm in town?

Why Dupe Products Aren't Always the Steal They Appear to Be

We all love to save money and feel like we have found the deal of the century, hence why one of the biggest beauty blogging search key words happens to be "dupe". A dupe is perhaps best defined as an alternative and mostly likely cost effective beauty product; a product that rivals a highly lusted after beauty item, that may not be all that accessible: this can be due to cost, status i.e if it is limited edition or not, and of course if it is worthy of a splurge to begin with.

Why Dupe Products Aren't Always the Steal They Appear to Be

Ask yourself how many times have you personally sought out a dupe product? You've spent the hours of research Googling and pinning swatches and asking countless questions, you have decided that if you can't have such pricey product that your heart ever so wants, that an alternative but all the same product will be the next best thing? Chances are the answer to that question is countless times, I know that is the case for me. The first ever dupe I purchased was a seemingly perfect fit for the Urban Decay Naked Palette - money was tight and yet I simply needed an assortment of neutral eyeshadows. I purchased a budget friendly version and wasn't blown away, then I sought another and then another palette and before I knew it I had spent more money on seemingly affordable eyeshadow options than I would have, if I had just bought the Naked palette to begin with. As a further blow to my bank account I eventually purchased Urban Decay Naked anyway, a habit that seemingly goes hand-in-hand with seeking out dupe products - as it goes very seldom does anything live up to owning the original.

Dupes are great if you take them at face value or on the most part, especially in regards to more budget friendly options you don't expect the world. I'm in no way saying that this is true for all cost effective brands, however typically speaking something will have to give within the formula to allow for such discounted price tag - this could mean in the case of eyeshadows, that they aren't quite as pigmented nor as soft as you expected, lipsticks may be a little drier and in the case of skincare the more important and expensive ingredients are missing. That's not to say that there isn't plenty of great alternative products out there to rival the launches from high end brands because there is, I simply think it is important to keep in mind that a dupe may not be entirely identical and if that is your expectations you could well be disappointed.

Why Dupe Products Aren't Always the Steal They Appear to Be

On the whole I prefer accidental dupes, products that just happen to be similar and then stumbled upon, rather than those that outright copy mostly original innovations. Again I understand the need for more cost friendly options, the business of beauty is not cheap but I would rather see a little brand integrity rather than an outright rip off product. There is nothing wrong with building on an idea but personally I'm not all that comfortable when no original thought goes into the creation nor marking of such product.

I should quickly mention that the above photographs are simply that: a quick and pretty way to break up chunks of text. I'm in no-way indicating that I have a problem with any of the brands photographed quite the contrary.

So where do you weigh in - is a dupe ever enough for you or do you fall into the category of avoiding seemingly replica products as you know it will never measure up to the original?
