Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette
The current highlighter trend is going nowhere and I couldn't be more on board if I tried - I mean anything that will detract from my less-than-perfect eyebrows is always going to be a winner in my book. Oddly along with NIOD Photography Fluid (seriously this stuff is amazing, read my review here) the current must-have highlighter won't break the bank, and as it is a palette it is diverse in use and tone. Yes I am indeed talking about Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette.

Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette
Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette

Along with containing four highlighting options, the Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette is pretty easy on the eyes: a shiny, rose gold tinged compact that features a well sized mirror and if I am entirely honest, a sub-par scratchy brush. Brush woes aside, the palette is well sized - dinky enough for popping into a handbag yet large enough that the size of the powder wells are not compromised. If that is not enough, the plastic style of the compact ensures that the contents are well protected - perfect if like myself you are more than a little clumsy.

Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette

As you can see the Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette contains four, fairly cool toned highlighting products - three of which are powder based and one cream. Typically I am not a fan of mixed formulation palettes of any kind; more often than not, fall out from the powders becomes embedded within the cream textures and it all becomes more than a little messy. Surprisingly that has not been the case with the Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette, or at least thus far; I think this is due to the firm textures of the powders but more on that later. For now let's look a little closer at the four beautiful shades within the Solstice Highlighter Kit.

Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette
Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette
Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette

From top to bottom, left to right we have:

Ecliptic - This is the cream highlighter within the palette and what a cream it is. A beautiful, light nude that leans a little yellow in tone and despite being fairly pale, it is not overly stark making it suitable for most skin tones. You can of course use this in the typical highlighter sense, and/or as cream eyeshadow. Perhaps a little oddly this doubles up as a base product to layer one of the powder highlighters over the top of to increase colour intensity. This an almost dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills Rivera Highlighter - texture differences aside of course.

Hemisphere - a pale pink come lilac highlighting powder that transforms into a bright white, almost silver toned soft yet metallic sheen when applied to the skin. This is probably the most usual toned highlighter I have come across but it is surprisingly easy to wear - with a light hand, this has quickly become my go to daily shade.

Subsolar - a bright, light, almost pale gold powder highlighter that is fairly intense in colour and the perfect option for those who like an intense, almost foil-like, metallic sheen to the skin. I couldn't be a bigger fan and if that is not enough, Sleek MakeUp Subsolar is an almost identical dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter in So Hollywood. You of course didn't hear that from me *wink wink*.

Equinox - sometimes you need to save the best until last and this is very much the case with Sleek Equinox: a pretty, subtle peach gold shade that again offers an almost foil like finish, all the while brightening the complexion as it goes. If you have a fairly light complexion I would imagine that this could double up as shimmering peach blush? Once again this is a fairly convincing dupe for a sought after Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighter, this time around I would say this a great alternative to Anastasia Beverly Hills Peach Nectar Highlighter.

Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette

Four shades, three of which are dupes for a now very much lusted after high end highlighter collection may have you sold on the spot in regards to the Sleek MakeUp Solstice Highlighting Palette. I do however want to add that all four highlighters are beautifully formulated: well pigmented, shimmery yet no traces of chunky glitter, easy to apply and blend out, all the while wearing well (around 8 hours per application). I rather like that the highlighters also double up as eyeshadows should you wish and in the case of the cream shade, a primer of sorts too. At just £9.99 it is not only a complete steal but should you own it, I very much doubt you'd need any other highlighter. Get it while you can.

Sweden Ban Microbeads

It seems like only last week I was typing up a quick report about the U.S and their The Microbead Free Waters Act; come the 1st of July 2017 (a lot sooner than I imagined), cosmetic brands will begin to phase out the tiny, plastic beads often found in toothpaste, body wash and body scrubs. Rather impressively, the U.S have a fairly firm stance on Microbeads - Illinois banned the sale of products containing such beads back in 2014. California also pledged to phase out the beads by 2020 long before the The Microbead Free Waters Act was passed and rightly so too.

Next to follow suit is Sweden - Kemi, the Swedish Chemicals Agency, has proposed a ban on rinse-off cosmetic products containing Microbead from January 2018. As of now I am unsure if that includes toothpaste or not but I'd imagine it will, it would be rather pointless to half heartedly regulate the production of the tiny plastic shards, only to allow certain products to slip under the radar. Kemi also want to see such regulation expand throughout the EU, after a little research it does seem that Denmark will follow Sweden's lead in the coming months and years. You can read more about Kemi's proposal here - link.

If you are wondering what the U.K's current stance is on the issue, let me catch you up. Within the U.K 25 manufacturers have stated that will they will ensure that all of their products are 100% Microbead free, a small dent but a start none the less.

So what is the problem with those often bright, teeny tiny particles found in beauty products? Well for starters, more often than not Microbeads are not biodegradable - meaning they will never dissolve nor disappear. Rather when they are washed away down the drain, they go straight into the sewer system and as water plants don't have the technology to filter them out of the water, the beads wash up into sea causing pollution. Current research (which I do hasten to add is still ongoing), has suggested that the beads may be absorbing toxins along the way. It has also been found that marine life confuse the small beads as food and of course consume them, as many of us eat fish there is a good chance that unwittingly along the way you too have consumed plastic.

Grim huh? We have no real need for Microbeads and I think most of us have used them in the past unaware of the environmental consequences - I know I did. With that in mind and education on the issue currently filling most social media channels, I really don't think many would mourn the demise of the Microbead here in the UK. I look forward to the day that we too have a similar stance to the aforementioned countries and nation.

What are your thoughts?
The Body Shop Drops of Youth, Youth-Essence Lotion

I've said it before and I'll say it again (one more time for those at the back), that essence (as in the skin care product) is something I truly believe everyone should use, and a new beauty category that will take the industry by storm. My guess is that by the end of the year a bottle of essence will adorn beauty shelves globally. Maybe I am wrong but if you are looking for a little extra skin hydration that is light,non-greasy and won't break the bank - you need to a bottle of skin essence. The good news is that it couldn't be easier to embrace the trend, with many UK accessible brands adding their own version of skin essence to the market. One I fully recommend trying out is The Body Shop Drops of Youth, Youth-Essence Lotion - a snip at just £14.

With most of us only just getting to grips with Korean beauty products (myself included), it is very easy to become overwhelmed, so let me briefly explain just what skin essence is. Essence more often than not, particularly in the traditional sense is a light, weightless liquid (think similar to Micellar Water) that you apply before serum or moisturiser. I must stress that essence lotions are not cleansers nor toners; rather think of them as a quick, splash-on additional step within your beauty routine. A step that refreshes the skin, adds a gentle and additional layer of moisture, as well as helping fight the visible signs of ageing. Sold yet? You will be.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth, Youth-Essence Lotion

To use and this is true of just about every bottle of essence, you simply dispense a few drops into the palms of your hands and gently massage onto freshly cleansed skin. Afterwards you can then apply your serum and/or moisturiser of choice; a lot like most skin care products for optimum results you should use daily, ideally both day and night. As essence is so easy and enjoyable to apply, I promise you will become hooked in no time.

Now that we have that cleared up, let me share my thoughts on The Body Shop Drops of Youth, Youth-Essence Lotion - a little different from its Korean counterparts due to it's almost gel-like texture. This doesn't hinder application nor skin absorption, if anything it adds an additional cooling element which is rather enjoyable. Texture aside, this does all you want an essence lotion to do and then some, as you'd expect this gentle water-weight moisturiser hydrates the skin, plumps, smooths and soothes. However as this is part of anti-ageing range, aimed at the first signs of ageing to smooth out fine lines using plant steam cell technology.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth, Youth-Essence Lotion

Fairly impressive ingredients aside, I would recommend The Body Shop Drops of Youth, Youth-Essence Lotion to anyone concerned with the signs of ageing: be that fine lines or deeper set creases - this is the additional anti-ageing step you need. A few quick drops of this gel-lotion applied both night and day, will visibly soften the appearance of any lines and encourage your other anti-ageing products and general skin care for that matter, to work a little harder. As a little goes a long way, the large 160ml bottle will last forever and a day.You really couldn't ask for more and if like myself you are in your twenties, the entire The Body Shop Drops Youth range is a great investment - effective, gentle and entirely affordable.

New Mascara Launches 2016

If you are in the market for a new Mascara, January is your lucky month as there are more than 10 new launches to choose from and that is just from the high street alone - what a time to be alive ha! Like a greedy kid in a candy store, I have been dipping my fingers and coating my eyelashes in pretty much every new formulation going and as such I have a few thoughts. I would like to add that it is of premature as far as testing goes and over the coming days and weeks, I will of course be providing a full review of each mascara - with before and after photos too, oh how I spoil you.

L'Oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara £9.99 via Superdrug - link

The latest L'Oreal launch is both practical and innovative; not only does this mascara stretch out the eyelashes creating a beautiful fanned out effect (even those pesky inner corner lashes) as well as giving the illusion of additional length. The spoon like shape of the plastic mascara spoolie, cups the lashes and gently creates an uplifting, eye-opening effect come curl. If that is not enough the L'Oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara the comb style brush, gently coats and tight lines between the lashes much like an eye-liner for thicker, fuller lashes.

If like myself you enjoy wispy false eyelashes but want something a little less fiddly yet equally as eye/face framing this is the mascara for you. If I could liken it to anything it would be demi-wispy lashes but in tube form. The only downside is that L'Oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara is a little prone to smudging but then again that could be my oily skin to blame.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara £5.99 via Boots - link

Can I confess to something? I have a huge girl crush on Gigi Hadid, seriously how can one woman be so effortlessly beautiful. Gah, life can be unfair! Needless to say I purchased the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara based on the Gigi advertisements, that was back in October and when I was unsure if this would reach the UK or not. Lucky it has and as I am on my second tube I think it is safe to say I am a fan. Weirdly this mascara doesn't really do all it says it will, it falls a little flat in terms of pushing up and curling the lashes but if you are a fan of additional length and volume, all without clumping, this is the mascara for you.

New Mascara Launches 2016

Pixi Lengthy Fiber Mascara £16 - link
Pixi Black Lacquer Lash Primer £15 - link

Two new Pixi launches: a fiber loaded mascara that gently adds volume and length to the lashes and if applied in layers it can create a false lash effect. If you enjoy dramatic mascaras this is what you have been waiting for, I must add that due to the fibers this may irritate sensitive eyes - perhaps avoid if you wear contact lenses. For a more natural effect there is Pixi Black Lacquer Lash Primer, this glossy black treatment can be worn alone for a luscious black vinyl effect or worn under any mascara to prevent smudging, smearing and flaking - clever huh?

Pixi Brow Brightener £12 - link

Okay, okay now this is not technically a mascara but I wanted to share it none the less. This golden toned brow tamer will not only help you create slick and polished brows but it will set any brow product too. Now I know what you are thinking, why a gold tinged brow product? Truthfully I'm not all that sure but what I can say is that it is subtle and can help defuse a heavy brow (hey we've all been there) - I also like it as a stand alone brow gel over my blonde brows. If you are feeling adventurous give this a whirl, if you need further convincing I will pop up a full review in the coming days.

Revlon Ultra Volume Mascara (pink lid) £6.99 via Boots - link; a large natural fibre brush that evenly coats the lashes without weighing them down. Ideal for those who have fine lashes that need plumped up.

Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara (purple lid) £6.99 via Boots - link; the plastic wand acts as a comb ensuring your lashes are beautifully coated and clump free. The perfect mascara for those who enjoy a natural look.

Revlon Super Length Waterproof Mascara (green lid) £6.99 via Boots - link; the large, natural brush stretches the lashes to their maximum potential, all the while preventing smudges and flakes. My personal favourite of the bunch.

Revlon Ultimate All-in-One Mascara (red lid) £6.99 via Boots - link; if you need a hard working mascara, this your go to guy. It lengthens, lifts, adds volume and separation, and deeply tints lashes - what more could you ask for? The dinky brush is also great for those with small eyes.

Revlon Volume + Length Amplified Mascara (blue lid) £6.99 via Boots - link; the title says it all, it lengthens and thickens the lashes. I find this creates a dramatic doll/doe eye look.

Now long-time readers of The Sunday Girl will recall the many years that I swore by Revlon HD Mascara, as a matter of a fact I still rate and recommend it but as a blogger I do have to try out other formulations - if I didn't I have nothing to write about! Anyway if like myself you swear by Revlon Mascaras your luck is in as five new formulas have just landed. From length boosting, to volume creating there is something for everyone, including an all singing, all dancing all -in-one offering.

Now if you excuse me I have some eyelashes that need primping...

Kiyoko Lip Balm

I've briefly mentioned that in the coming months I do fully intend of purchasing and trailing more, natural focused beauty brands. I tend to gravitate towards products and companies that I have yet to read or hear about, as such I do find some great, hidden gems. One being the Kiyoko Lip Balm, which comes with its own achingly hip back-story.

Kiyoko Lip Balm

Kiyoko is a lifestyle brand that consists of three products: two sweaters and one lip balm, that are the brain-child of two sisters. The idea is of course a simplistic approach with unisex, staple items that will forever serve you well. Forget fast fashion and beauty, this brand is all about creating new and well loved key items. As I am by no means a style blogger, I will allow you discover Kiyoko's cosy, grey sweaters on your on accord and focus my attention towards Kiyoko Lip Balm.

Forgetting the entirely natural product for one moment - isn't the metallic, bare-minimum packaging the dream? It is understated yet cool, each silver bottle is hand labelled with four different labels/captions to collect (rest assure the balm remains the same throughout the series), each of which will make you chuckle.

Kiyoko Lip Balm
Kiyoko Lip Balm

I am pleased to report that pretty casing aside, Kiyoko Lip Balm is a stellar blend of all natural, skin softening ingredients such as: Cacao Seed, Honey, Vitamin E, Lanolin and Japanese wax. The end result is a translucent, soft, yet non-greasy skin replenishing balm that can be used not only on the lips but also anywhere else on the body that you find dry patches. It glides on with ease, instantly nourishes and has a scrumptious sweet honey scent that should appeal to most. A little goes a long way and I rather like the entire non-fuss approach: from the presentation to par-downed ingredient line up. It may just surprise you to learn that this wonder balm is fairly affordable at £10, purchase it now before it reaches cult status.

The New Brand on My Lips

Nineteen Candles Roadhouse Candle

Don't fret I don't have 19 new candles to share today, I mean give me a few weeks and I'm sure I'll be close to that number given my home fragrance obsession but for today I only have one new candle. A delicious, I-only-want-to-burn-you kinda candle, that smells unlike anything else I own and oddly familiar at the same time. It's fresh, it's spicy, it's zesty and I kinda want to eat it (I won't), let me tell you a little more about Nineteen Candles and their Roadhouse scent.

Nineteen Candles Roadhouse Candle

I'm guessing that a lot like myself, you will be new to Nineteen Candles - I was introduced to the brand via a random newsletter (I'm enjoying the current rival of weekly catch up emails aren't you?), and immediately clicked purchase - the rest as they say is history. After a little research, I have learnt that Nineteen Candles is a Topanga Canyon, California, created and based brand that have created 10 (I kinda assumed there would be 19 scents didn't you?) all naturally scented, soya candles, all of which have been inspired by places and memories. As the packaging all but dictates, this is one helluva cool brand and one I can imagine will keep you interested for years to come. Let's face it, home fragrance has become stale and it is about time a brand shook things up a little.

After much deliberation, I settled on Nineteen Candles Roadhouse fragrance - the zesty yet spicy blend appealed to me and as I owned nothing at all like at home, I threw caution to the wind and it has paid off. Nineteen Candles Roadhouse Candle has been created to mimic the vibe of the iconic 1960's and 1970's bar and music venue - The Corral in Topanga, California (of course).

Nineteen Candles Roadhouse Candle

It was in such roadhouse acts such as The Eagles, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and The Rolling Stones, played sets. The Corral is also said to be the inspiration for The Door's "Roadhouse Blues" - the more y'know huh? This candle is a boozy, lime spiked, old wood tinged tribute to such venue and I think Nineteen Candles have hit the nail on the head. The notes of Star Anise, Juniper, Lime, Benzoin and Cardamom fuse together to create a grown up, nostalgic blend .Nineteen Candles Roadhouse is cooler than cool and something for those who crave something a little different; a statement that stands true for the brand on the whole. I will be back for more.

And yes, once I have burned this candle to a mere wisp, the empty porcelain container will be re-purposed - most likely to be found in my kitchen, housing a white bloom or two.

You can shop Nineteen Candles via Trove Store - link.

Jo Malone Herb Garden Cologne Collection 2016

Think of this as a first look post as I will be purchasing the other three fragrances within the Jo Malone Herb Garden Collection, come launch day this coming March. I of course will be producing a full review of the range, so until then...

A few days ago I was kindly shown all five scents from the Jo Malone Herb Garden Collection and quite honestly, there and then I fell in love with the concept and of course fragrance range. There is something quintessentially British and charming about herbal gardens, much like the Jo Malone brand itself - the marriage of the two couldn't be more perfect and I dare anyone to try this line up and not fall in love. Fresh, green and childhood memory educing, Jo Malone Herb Garden Collection is all I will be wearing this coming Spring.

Jo Malone Herb Garden Cologne Collection 2016

Before I share a few notes on the new Jo Malone Colognes can we please focus our attention on the beautiful packaging. A colourful first for Jo Malone, the all green, glass bottles range in tone reflecting the intensity of the fragrance held inside. If that is not delightful enough, each bottle is embossed with an illustration of a herb featured within the fragrance on the back of each bottle. I seriously can't get enough and at the risk of sounding like a broken record (I probably type a similar sentence with each Jo Malone launch, I can't help t they forever impress me), this may be my favourite cologne launch to date.

Jo Malone Herb Garden Cologne Collection 2016

I was kindly gifted two of the new Jo Malone Herb Garden Collection: Jo Malone Nasturtium and Clover, and Jo Malone Carrot Blossom and Fennel. One is more green than the other, fresher if you will and like the recent fallen dew on a Spring morning; the other is sweet and almost candied in scent - I truly would be hard pushed to pick a favourite. Jo Malone Nasturtium and Clover Cologne, the clean and very green scent contains notes of peppery Rocket, Lemon, Nasturtium Blossom and a hint of Jasmine. This a great, everyday and very much unisex scent and my pick for those enjoy green floral fragrances. If like myself you tend to gravitate towards sweet, almost candy tinged scents, then I fully recommend Jo Malone Carrot Blossom and Fennel. It is unlike anything I have ever experienced and pretty quirky due to the carrot note, which surprisingly is the source of sweetness. It also contains hints of fennel, rose and Orange Blossom to add a little additional depth and general zest.

The other three colognes within this collection are: Jo Malone Sorrel & Lemon Thyme (bright and very citrus based), Jo Malone Wild Strawberry & Parsley (herbal and a little mossy) and lastly Jo Malone Lavender & Coriander (punchy and very much a Lavender based scent).

I can almost guarantee you will fall in love with at least one of the Jo Malone Herb Garden colognes, and the good news is that you have until March to decide which appeals to you most. If like myself you plan on collecting all five, perhaps even better news is the fact that this time around the collection will only be available in 30ml bottles, retailing at £44 each.

Stella McCartney Stella Eau de Parfum

As a short (5ft 1 on a good day), baby-faced, 20-something year old I don't always get taken seriously and on the most part I don't mind - I mean who doesn't enjoy reduced train tickets and discounted child sized shoes. Not me. I do however have a desire to be taken seriously every now and then, and along with dressing a little less "cutesy" (read I put all black on and a pair of heels), I do tend to rely on one fragrance. A scent that tells me to pull up my socks and present myself as a "real grown up" and leave behind the fruity, bubblegum tinged fragrances. For me the only scent that can live up to such demands is Stella McCartney Stella Eau de Parfum.

Stella McCartney Stella Eau de Parfum

Much like the bottle - sleek and beautiful, androgynous, Stella McCartney Stella Eau de Parfum is the perfectly balanced fragrance. I'm guessing most will have tried or at least tested Stella McCartney - Stella at some point in your life? If not the main note is a robust Rose kick which Stella McCartney herself, associates with growing up in the countryside and associates with youth and being carefree. As a singular rose fragrance can be a little heavy and dare I say dated, Stella McCartney influenced by her husbands love of Amber scents, decided to combine both notes together. The end result a modern floral scent with a twisted, a perfectly leverage fragrance that exudes warmth and dimension. A fragrance that I will never grow old of, rather the opposite, I imagine this a scent that will grow and mature with me.

Stella McCartney Stella Eau de Parfum

Note composition aside, I feel Stella McCartney Stella Eau de Parfum makes a statement; not necessarily a loud, crass declaration, rather an understated I have my life together call and hopefully convinces perfect strangers that I am indeed over the age of 18.

Collection Primed and Ready Primer Collection

Do you know how difficult it was to not open up with a collection related word play based pun, I live for dad jokes and this was almost too good to pass up - a little like the new line up of Collection's primers. Four, new and utterly affordable priming solutions, that combat various cosmetic issues without breaking the bank. From glowing skin to crease-less eyeshadow and even a formula that aides blemish prone skin, Collection have all bases covered (sorry, this pun wrote itself) and here is why you should add one of the new additions to your stash.

Collection Illuminating and Reviving Eye Primer £4.99 (currently £3.99) via Boots - link.

One thing I have noticed over the years is the distinct lack of eyeshadow primers within the budget beauty sector; off of the top of my head, I can truly only think of one option and even then I'm not entirely sure if it has been discontinued or not. Forget trawling the counters of Boots, Superdrug et al and zone in on Collection Illuminating and Reviving Eye Primer.

This cooling gel primer is extremely lightweight not to mention non-sticky, it dries quickly yet not instantly to allow time for blending, removal etc. Due to the silicone-gel based texture, the Collection Illuminating and Reviving Eye Primer gently smooths and visually blurs any fine lines, making it perfect for complexions of all ages. If that is not enough, along with keeping any eye make-up firmly locked in place, this primer gently brightens and perks up a tired eye area. I should stress that the shimmer/reflective pearls within this primer are entirely subtle and as suited to day wear as it is a full on smoky eye look come night fall. Really all the particles do is illuminate and open up the eye.

As great as this may be, let's be honest and admit that the only real reason most of us purchase primer is to hold make-up in place. I can happily report that the Collection Illuminating and Reviving Eye Primer does a stellar job of not only cementing eyeshadow in place, as well as eye liner and if used on the under-eye area, concealer too. I find one quick application can help keep make-up crease and smudge free but also fresh in appearance for up to 8 hours. My only advice would be to approach with a less is more attitude as a little does go a long way.

Collection Reviving & Anti-Fatigue Illuminating Primers £4.99 (currently £3.99 each) via Boots - link.
Why have a normal primer, when you can have one that will not only prolong make-up wear but also add a dash of radiance to the skin too? Combining the best of both worlds is the new Collection Reviving & Anti-Fatigue Illuminating Primers: two new and shimmering base products that add a subtle glow to the skin, while keeping any make-up applied on top firmly in place. In a word? Perfection. I also must applaud Collection for realising that one shade does not suit all and for offerng two skin brightening options: one for warm skin tones and another for cool toned complexions.

Before I comment on how the Collection Reviving & Anti-Fatigue Illuminating Primers preform, let me quickly share a few notes on the shade range. First up we have Collection Reviving & Anti-Fatigue Illuminating Primer in Cool Rose (similar to Benefit High Beam in tone): a light, almost oyster pink hued primer that brightens and of course illuminates the complexion. It is recommend that those with a warm skin tone should use this, personally I think this is better suited to pale complexions as it is so subtle. The other shade is Collection Reviving & Anti-Fatigue Illuminating Primer in Warm Apricot (similar yet a little lighter in tone than Benefit Sun Beam): a light golden tinged gel-creme product, that really comes to life on medium to deep complexions. As you may have guessed, Collection do recommend this particular for those with a cool skin tone. Personally I say, purchase the shade that appeals to you most and as both are fairly subtle when applied, it really is difficult to go far wrong.

Now for the formulation - again a lightweight cooling, almost gel like texture that is a dream to apply. Despite being somewhat shimmer based, once applied directly to the skin (or mixed into liquid foundation) the end result is subtle - think a light, ethereal like glow, rather than a full on glitter explosion. As someone with enlarged pores some shimmer based products can be problematic but I have to say that this does not gather into my problem areas - something not all that common with highlighting products. Along with imparting a gentle glow onto the skin both primers do offer light oil control, as well as keeping most base products in place for up to 8 hours per application. If that is not enough to convince you to add this to your online shopping basket, the Collection Reviving & Anti-Fatigue Illuminating Primers can be used in place of a standard liquid highlighter.

Collection Primed and Ready Primer Collection

Collection Primed and Ready Mattifying Pore Minimiser (currently £3.99 each) via Boots - link.

Rounding off the Collection Primed and Ready Primer line up is Collection Primed and Ready Mattifying Pore Minimiser - a true gel based primer that has been created to gently smooth and perfect the skin, creating the most picture perfect canvas imaginable, all the while gently hydrating the complexion too.

Collection Primed and Ready Mattifying Pore Minimiser is a clear gel primer that gently creates a soft focus finish on the skin, as well as offering moderate oil control. If you are familiar with the likes of Benefit the Porefessional Primer then I have no doubt you will enjoy this. Yes it does feature silicones to gently fill in enlarged pores and fine lines but it s by far the lightest texture I have experienced. This is as well as creating a soft-focus, blurring quality - like real life photoshop for your face. Clever and very addictive if like myself you are constantly plagued by the appearance of your pores.

This primer works hard to keep your make-up in place for around 8 hours (longer on dry complexions), oil at bay, as well as containing natural Witch Hazel to promote clear skin. The added Witch Hazel may also help to heal existing blemishes which is impressive for a primer however you look at it.

Collection is a brand that has slowly but surely won me over in the last year or so, if the above collection is anything to go by I'm excited to see what the rest of 2016 brings.
