Confession: I am not cool, never have been, probably never will be, unless unkempt messy blonde hair and a love for mis-matched socks is ever mistook for street style, I will not be a muse of the fashion set but one thing I do know is fragrance. For instant cool points you need to try and then most likely own a bottle of Zadig and Voltaire This is Her Eau de Parfum.
If understated and effortlessly cool is your calling, the simple yet attractively modern stylings of the packaging of Zadig and Voltaire This is Her Eau de Parfum will appeal, before you have much as tested the physical scent housed inside. The crisp, pared back, slightly edgy design of this bottle has a certain New York, or maybe even Scandinavian vibe about it, that simply begs to be displayed - not that you should ever purchase a beauty product of any nature based purely on aesthetics; I have a drawer full of mediocre but beautifully presented products that is testament of this.
Zadig and Voltaire This is Her Eau de Parfum has been labelled a rebellious, rock star ready fragrance and the more I test this rich, warm and slightly spicy fragrance, I find myself nodding in agreement with such statement. Zadig and Voltaire This is Her demands attention, it shouts and doesn't whisper which may not be ideal for office wear but in a busy social setting, you can all but guarantee that this will not go unnoticed. Now I've never been up close nor are they associated with the fragrance Alexa Chung nor Kate Moss in the flesh (well the latter is a lie but that's a story for another time), but I can oddly imagine this to be the type of fragrance they would wear. It is sharp, not overly feminine and has a certain grungy-too-cool-for-school vibe. Basically this is for the woman who isn't afraid to set her own style rules and really isn't that the very definition of cool?
If my above waffling hasn't sold you on Zadig and Voltaire This is Her Eau de Parfum (and who would blame you), let me divulge a few notes that should hopefully help you imagine the fragrance with a little more clarity: the three main notes are jasmine which is oddly richer than you'd imagine and a wonderful opening note, this is combined with vanilla-chestnut - soft, sweet and of course robust, coupled with a base note of sandalwood that lends a slightly smoky and almost woody kick. There is also a little pink peppercorn (spicy, unexpected and dare I say edgy) which adds a whole new dimension to what could be an overly strong, floral experience.
For those looking for a little different, Zadig and Voltaire This is Her Eau de Parfum is the unexpected answer. Expect to see, hear and smell a lot more of this fragrance in the coming months.
