I think I look forward to the Lush Halloween collection more so than any other bath and body range each and ever year - yes this does indeed include the often wonderful Christmas range too. For me the assortment of Lush Halloween goodies, signals the start of Autumn and of course that All Hallows Eve is in the not too distant future - forever exciting as a fan of all things mystical, and dare I say spooky. Admittedly Lush Halloween is more cute than creepy but fun none the less, and as it is so extensive there is something for everyone and every budget.
Let me talk you through the full range...
Lush Autumn Leaf Bath Bomb £3.75 - link
I can't say the grass, maple sap and bergamot fragrance of this particular bath product blows me away, it is a little too citrus based, fresh and generally doesn't scream Autumn but perhaps this is intentional? Maybe Lush don't want to go down the typical Pumpkin and spice route seeing as every other brand does? None the less I would have loved something a little more apple, spice or dare I say pumpkin tinged but it is pleasant enough regardless and should appeal to most.
However the fragrance is not the selling point of Lush Autumn Leaf Bath Bomb, rather it is the spectacle it produces once popped into warm water. The Lush Autumn Leaf Bath Bomb fizzes and swirls creating a maple leaf pattern (if left undisturbed that is), that will all but make you feel a little guilty for climbing into the bath to enjoy the softened and scented bath water.
Lush Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb £3.95 - link
There's a reason that so many of us love the Lush Lord of Misrule and that is because it so perfectly encapsulates the mystic of the season of Autumn - and of course Halloween. If you have yet to try any of the Lord of Misrule products, then you are in for a spicy, smoky, rich and altogether herbal treat.
Does the Lush Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb do much else than pleasantly fragrance the water and turn it a deep rich wine shade (symbolic of the pagan Feast of Fools festival in which this bath product borrows its name from)? In a word no; I can't say it does but it does make for a pretty and beautifully scented dip in the tub, and sometimes that is all we truly crave, isn't it?
Lush Monsters Ball Bath Bomb £4.25 - link
Is this not the cutest product ever? I can't help but think of Monsters Inc each time I see this brightly coloured bath addition. Despite being one of the more expensive products within the Lush Halloween collection, this is worth every penny; the sharp and altogether mood enhancing lime fragranced bath fizzer, does just that - it fizzes and scoots around the bath, creating a blue and purple skin softening lagoon that is heavenly on a crisp and cool, Autumn evening.
Lush Pumpkin Bath Bomb £3.95 - link
I'm sure I'm not the only one who hoped that this would be Pumpkin (or Pumpkin Spiced) scented, when sneak peeks of the Lush Halloween collection leaked on to social media channels? Sadly it is not to be and instead of a rich Harvest type fragrance, we have a tangy orange and vanilla scented bath bomb. If you enjoy bright, zesty scents or perhaps require an uplifting bath and body treat, this is the one for you. Much like the Lord of Misrule bath bomb other than tint and fragrance the water, this does not do much else but then again do we really ask for much more from such category of product? I know I don't.
Lush Boo Bath Melt £3.50 - link
Forget that this is fashioned into the shape of a squidgy, ghost-come-marshmallow as really that is where the connotations of Autumn/Halloween starts and ends. This dinky little bath melt is the perfect stress buster, and/or addition to any evening soak in the bath tub, before slipping into your softest pyjamas and heading to bed.
As Boo is a bath melt it not only softens the bath water but also your skin without the need of any effort on your part - great if you are a little lazy like myself, and/or your skin is calling out for a little extra tender loving care. The beauty of all Lush bath melts is that the natural oils present within the small solid bars, offer an at home aromatherapy alternative; in the instance of Lush Boo Bath Melt it has been formulated to de-stress and soothe with hints of calming mimosa, warming ginger and grounding sandalwood - think of this as a glass of warm milk for the body and soul. Utter bliss.
Lush Goth Fairy Shimmer Melt £5.50 - link
Think of this as a solid body moisturiser, one that quickly conditions the skin as well as providing a festive (is it to early for such term?) shimmer trail behind. I'll be entirely honest in saying I find this to be more of a novelty, a gimmick product if you will, that smells better than it performs; truthfully I found it to be more greasy than conditioning but it does have its uses.
If like myself you are a huge fan of Lush Snow Fairy then you may be pleased to learn that Lush Goth Fairy shares a very similar scent - I would say that Goth Fairy is a little richer and muskier (hence the name) but comparable all the same. As this is a solid butter bar, it melts so easily and as such doubles up as a great alternative to a traditional wax tart. If you are careful and allow the melted bar to somewhat cool down, you may find the liquefied Goth Fairy Shimmer Melt a little more convenient to apply to the sin - I have been using it as an intensive hand and foot moisturiser.
Lush Magic Wand Soap £3.50/100g - link
It was around 15 years ago that I first ever set foot inside a Lush store and can remember being so overwhelmed by all the bath and body treats. I can also remember my Granny having a coughing fit over the medley of fragrances in the air - she's an Imperial Leather kinda gal. Back then, like most children my age, my only disposable income was my weekly pocket money and I can recall thinking my Mum would be elated with a chunk of soap - she probably wasn't but bless her for pretending to be. Anyway mesmerised by a huge pink wheel of pinky-purple soap that featured brightly coloured stars embedded throughout, I bought the biggest chunk I could afford. Now my memory might be a little hazy but if I remember correctly this was the original form of Lush Rockstar soap? Hence the stars? Anyway in a long winded, round about way, Lush Magic Wand Soap smells exactly like Rockstar and do you know what, I'm not mad about it. Thank you for the trip down memory lane and the beautifully scented hands Lush.
Lush Fireside Soap £4.25/100g - link
Easily the most Autumnal fragrance of the bunch - this warm, smoky and slightly woody, tinged scent will instantly make you think of (and maybe even long for) a roaring fire and perhaps the scent of gunpowder in the air, come November the 5th? This slightly spice tinged soap, contains an abundance of extra virgin coconut oil to ensure that your hands and body are conditioned as well as cleansed. I hope next Autumn Lush gravitate towards more warming, rich fragrances such as this soap.
Lush Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar £3.95 - link
For the last few years, the Lush Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar has been my favourite Lush Halloween product and this year is no different. No this may not be Pumpkin scented product I have been holding out for but the gentle, fruity fragranced (grapefruit, juniper berries and lime) and compliments the bubbles it creates perfectly (an odd statement I know). I mean is there anything more blissful than a bath tub full of bubbles, to wash away the stress of a working day? I think not, and the best thing about the Lush Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar is that it contains enough product for up to three baths. Stock up and stock up now.
Lush Lord of Misrule Shower Cream £4.95-£27.95 - link
So what about those who don't have access to a bath tub, or simply don't enjoy soaking the evening away, what new body product should you seek out? Lush Lord of Misrule Shower Cream, of course. If you are already familiar with Lush Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb then in terms of fragrance you know what to expect, if not then expect a sharp burst of spice, smoke and all the herbal notes you can shake a stick at. I've said it before and I'll say it again as far as scents go this is the cool, crisp Autumn/Fall fragrance Pumpkin Spice haters have been waiting - and maybe praying - for.
As far as a shower gel goes this isn't ground-breaking, then again very few shower gels are but you will be pleased to learn that it cleanses without stripping the skin of its natural moisture levels. As an added bonus it also doubles up as a bubble bath, perfect for when you deplete your stash of Halloween bath products which we both know I will before mid October.
